My 1 year old does not like shoes...advice?

My son is 14 months old and is naturally a barefoot boy. He HATES shoes. I can occasionally get him to wear sandals if we’re going somewhere but most of the time he is barefoot. When it was cold out obviously he wore socks and didn’t start walking until last month. I know there are benefits to going barefoot but with cooler weather on the way I’d like to get him used to shoes. Any recommendations for comfy shoes/footwear for stubborn little ones who refuse to wear them? He acts like he can’t walk whenever I do put my shoes on him

I’m 37 years old and I hate shoes. I wear flip flops in the summer and in the winter I’ll wear slippers. I, thankfully, work from home so shoes are purely optional for my situation.

I am in the same boat! I just keep putting them back on him when he takes them off…when we are places I want him to wear shoes. Just have to keep trying! Mine is 15 months old

Sounds like he has a sensory sensitivity with shoes so try the kind of shoes that are very soft soled shoes because he’ll still feel the ground. Even slippers will work.

But pls try to keep him barefoot as long as possible because being barefoot is very crucial for toddlers because it teaches them and encourages them to learn balance, posture, and coordination.

Try the Ten Little or Vivo Barefoot brand! My 3-year-old has always been this way, and fights me on shoes…until I got those brands.

He is only been walking a month. The the feelings are strange to him. Just keep trying he will eventually get used to it. Things like letting my kids at that age not wear them in the car helped a lot. And eventually wasn’t an issue anymore.

Mine were same to start. Wore slippers alot lol they got better as more confident at walking though. Plimsols were always good too

Please try hey dudes. They are a softer shoe and you can still move your toes so you do not feel restricted

It’s a phase most kids go thru ,we couldn’t keep shoes on my youngest grand grandson, evertime I did errands we would have to put his shoes back on ever stop

Hey dudes or crocks with socks

I’m 67 and still hate to wear shoes. I think that’s why I like modern dance do much. Try booties, slippers, slipper socks, swim shoes, other shoes with stretch and soft lining. But its actually good to be barefoot as much as possible for people of any age.

Use flexible shoes that are thin. It’s what best for foot development, too.

I let my boy choose his own pair. He won’t take them off now🤣

My son hates shoes but will wear crocs with socks on, they are lightweight. Let him pick his favorite color and buy some croc charms that he likes, they just push into the top. My son has Pokemon, Minecraft and Bluey ones but they sell a large variety on Amazon.

Crocs… we have gotten regular crocs and crocs with fur inside for colder weather if he just learned to walk give it time I know everyone always says a good walking shoe with support is good but we tried walking shoes and they would throw my lil one off balance every time… any shoe he wore had him tripping over his own two feet once he got really good with his balance then he was cool with wearing shoes and actually shows off stomping everytime he gets a new pair

I’m sorry but Im 37 and I don’t like shoes. I never have. It took me a long while to get used to wearing socks. I don’t like my feet covered or restricted. Some people are just like that.
