My 1 year old will not drink his whole milk...advice?

My baby turned one not long ago and had his one year checkup this previous Thursday and said we can quit with formula. So we cold turkey the bottles but now he will not drink his whole milk out of his sippy cup when we had no problem before. What can I do or what am I doing wrong!?

Have you tried mixing formula and whole milk?
People wean their kids onto it like 6oz of formula with 1oz milk
Then 5oz with 2oz milk
Etc etc slowly cutting down the formula and replacing with milk.

Mine both went straight into milk without the weaning them off formula. But they hated whole milk would only drink semi skimmed

I would definitely try the weaning process. Just each week replace formula with more milk. I would also try warm milk. They are use to formula being room temperature or semi warm so giving them something cold is a change.

At least give the milk in his bottle for him at night and during the dayin a sippy cup he will eventually get used to it

My son wouldn’t drink whole milk either. Switched to 2 percent and he was fine

We do 2 percent and have to warm it up alittle

Transition him properly instead of straight switching

My grandson has been drinking almond milk since he was one, doesn’t matter which brand as long as it says “Original” and Not the “Original Unsweetened”, he doesn’t like the vanilla almond milk either, just the original. It’s got all the vitamins cows milk has. Maybe just try a half gallon and see how it goes😊

If he gets enough dairy elsewhere (yogurt, cheese) then he is fine. Try water.

My last one hated milk so after she was weaned off of me I just gave her calcium other ways, like cheese and yogurt. She just drank water out of a sippy

My youngest preferred vanilla almond milk. Some kids just don’t like cow milk.

As long as babe get 3 servings of dairy, their is no need to make them drink milk. None of my kids liked milk

My son is almost 13 and hasn’t drank milk since we took the bottle away. Ha ha. As long as he is getting calcium in other ways, the pediatrician isn’t concerned.

Is there a reason you made him stop cold turkey? If I had been used to a certain comfort item for my entire life I would really struggle all of a sudden not having it one day when I woke up. I would try a slower transition

I tried everything for my son when he still hates milk. He just turn three. To get him to have the calcium just turn to cheese and cottage cheese and milkshakes. Even add it to your pancakes. He will get enough

Mix it with formula then gradually keep add long milk and less formula until it’s just milk

Mine wouldn’t drink it out of a sippy cup. I ended up giving him his baby bottle back for his bedtime milk. He won’t sleep without his milk so I didn’t really have a choice. It’s only at night whilst he falls asleep, he’s 15m. If it’s the milk, go half and half. I did 50/50 for a day then just switched.

With all my kids we would do a formula/whole milk mix and reduce the formula/increase the milk by one ounce everyday until the bottle was all whole milk. Never had any problems.

Example for 8 ounce bottle:

Day 1:
7 oz water, 1 oz whole milk & then add 3.5 scoops of formula

Day 2:
6 oz water, two oz whole milk, 3 scoops formula

Day 3: 5 oz water, 3 oz milk, 2.5 scoops formula

& so on… Hope this helps!

I had to heat it to pee temperature for my son to accept. he was used to breast milk so he’d only accept body temp milk

I would do half formula, half milk and cut it down a little at a time.

My daughter wouldn’t drink white milk. Instead we tried whole chocolate milk(trumoo).

My daughter had always been used to room temp bottles. So I think with the introducing of cold milk was quite a shock. We usually fill a cup of hot water and then let the bottle sit in it for a few mins to take the edge off.

I gave my kids skim milk and they liked it

He can still have it his bottle

Some kids don’t drink milk. My almost 6 year old never has

Make sure it’s the same temp you did his milk prior

Babies after 1 do not need to drink milk as long as they are getting appropriate milk products in their diet. My daughter would not drink milk at all.
