Anyone else’s 3 year old just chew on stuff? Like he’s seriously always putting toys in his mouth and trying to chew them up. Tires off his cars, blocks, a toy accordion from his sisters doll… is this normal? Lol
My 3 year old is on the spectrum. He’s high functioning however he has the same issue. He even chew his shirt sleeves the neck of the shirt, and chews the zipper pieces off of everything one by one. I try to keep him something crunchy to snack on, I even bought him teething toys for babies and teething snacks too. I’m still lost and trying to redirect so I’m following for answers too
My son is 11 and had sensory processing disorder. He does this. He puts everything in his mouth. Nerf gun bullets, markers, paper, you name it, it has probably been on his mouth. About a year ago he was chewing on his coat and shirt. I got him a teething necklace he used it maybe 3 times then didn’t use it anymore. He longer chews on his shirt or coat but everything else.
My daughter drove me nuts chewed on everything until she was like 8 so I bought her I bought her things that wouldn’t hurt her to chew on
Does he do it with other non-food items? If so, it could be PICA. It could also be his teeth or just the fact that he’s 3.
Just to be safe get him tested for lead poisoning.
