Need advice. My 2 year old is fully potty trained and doesn’t have accidents at night either. My 4 year old has accidents every night. My 4 year old is so upset sissy doesn’t have to wear a pull up at night but she does. I don’t know how to navigate this one. My 4 year old had a sleep over with my grandma one night and convinced her she didn’t need the pull up and peed the bed(no one tried to confirm with me).
Set an alarm for every few hours to get her up and to the bathroom. This will help train her to get up and go.
If she stops drinking anything 4hrs before bedtime it will help. Can be emotional also
What does the pediatrician say?
My son had accidents at night until he was about 6. He was such a a heavy sleeper. Try not letting her have anything to eat or drink at least an hour before bedtime. At bedtime offer just a sip of water and have her use the potty right before bed. I bought the blue puppy training pads and put them between two fitted sheets to keep the mattress clean. I would also go have her go potty again before you go to bed.
Some kids have psychological problems which cause them to wet the bed. My ex brother in law wet the bed until he was 15 years old.
She could be constipated. You can go #2 everyday and still be constipated. And it presses on the bladder but doesn’t send the signal to the brain causing them to wet the bed. It can also cause some bladder leakage and incontinence issues after we have had children and as we get older and our muscles get weaker. The way to fix it is to add more fiber to the diet, drink lots more water, and raise the feet while using the bathroom but don’t strain. (My son is 12y and still has issues we are going to a specialist and I just got done with pelvic floor therapy I’ve learned a lot about bed wetting at both but both said older children are usually constipated)
We got our kids up to go to the toilet before we went to bed worked for us
Two of my family members wet the bed until age 8-10. It turned out to be allergies. One was a corn allergy and one was a tomato allergy.
Wake her up before you go to bed to go potty. Also talk to the doctor there may be an underlying medical problem.
It’s normal until about age 10. I wouldn’t worry about it.
My daughter was under paediatrics for various things and this was one of them. She also got referred to a specialist team and they were amazing. We got her a bed wetting alarm from Amazon and as soon as she started to wee it would wake her up and she would stop and go to the toilet. We did this for 2 weeks I stayed in the room with her and 2 weeks later she was completely dry! Definitely recommend it, good luck!
Fot my son as long as I put him in a pull up he would wet so I took the pull up away. Stop given him a drink at 7:30pm and awake him when I woke up 2 times threw the night. He was potty trained in a few weeks. He is now 9 and has a few accidents but doesn’t wet at night for most of the night
My son had accidents every night too and then one day it just stopped! One thing I saw online was that it’s good to let them wear underwear instead of pull ups because the sensation of being wet makes them more aware that they’re peeing. Might make for a messy couple of weeks but might be worth it in the long run? Get a mattress protector and some extra sheets😉
She may be sad about the baby and needs more coddling. When children are close together in age the older baby sometimes doesn’t get the sole attention they need and regress to that stage. Coddle her like a new baby hold her rock her. Pick up at the time you got pregnant with the 2yo and see how she responds.
Short of getting up at 2 in the morning to make them go to the bathroom,I have nothing. After a month it will be habit forming and they’ll wake up and go themselves. It’s a pain in the ass, but it works.
Demoptrssion is a med a dr can prescribe. I only used it when my son went to sleep over camp. He was potty trained daytime at 2 1/2 years but he wet the bed till he was 9 years old. It happens! He would get up & change himself and put a towel on the bed. I wasn’t worried or upset.
Some kids have a medical issue and some just sleep too hard. My daughter is 4 and she sleeps too hard. She literally slept through a tornado last year…
I could be wrong but unless traveling I have always thought pull up are waste of money, they are like wearing a diaper
Every child is different. Never compare one child to another.
At that age it is normal still as they have to adopt.
Try no liquids an hr before bed and have her potty just before she goes into her room for the night.
American academy of pediatrics
“Many children are fully toilet trained (no longer wetting the bed at night) between 2 and 4 years of age. However, bedwetting may continue for some children. Bedwetting affects 1 out of 4 children who are 5 years of age, 1 in 5 children who are 7 years of age, and about 1 in 20 children who are 10 years of age. “
normal until about 8 or 9
