My 6 month old has been congested for weeks now...advice?

Moms - my kiddo is 6months. Hes had congestion for maybe 3 wks now progressively getting worse. I took him to the doctor twice and she said everything looks fine. She prescribed him amoxicillin. Should i wait it out or give this to baby? Hes so young, im just afraid of ruining the healthy bacteria in his gut at such a young age. Any opinions/tips?

Why did she prescribe amoxicillin if nothing is wrong? I would question that up and down. Your baby can have allergies as far as the doctor knows. To say nothing is wrong and then prescribe an antibiotic, I would find a new doctor.

As soon as my pediatrician heard congestion, he sent me straight to the home health store with a prescription to pick up a nebulizer for my 6 month old. It’s helped immensely.

It’s to clear up the congestion, everything else looks & sounds fine…

It’s going to get worse, she prescribed for the congestion… you haven’t gave your baby any so yes, it’s going to get worse… if you do not like the diagnosis or prescription seek a 2nd opinion… if it’s been that long and your baby is worse, it can turn into pneumonia, bronchitis

Give him the medicine, tf? It’s RSV season and trust me that’s not something you want to deal with. I would go back to the doctor for a new prescription though because it’s likely no good after 3 weeks.

Go purchase a nebulizer and saline. And do treatments to help it break up and get out! They’re not crazy expensive. Honestly, it was more expensive with my insurance so I just bought it over the counter! Or order on Amazon.

It’s always my go to for baby showers now because no one thinks of it until they need it and it is a blessing.

My little boy was congested for months after he was born, I took him to the dr and dr done all tests and everything looked fine… it gradually just disappeared as he got older and started as moving about a lot more. I wouldn’t give an antibiotic if there is no infection

Def should Jane albuteral and an inhaler

I would give prescription as ordered could definitely turn into something worse I also love this stuff

When my son was that age he could chew on a little piece off apple he loved the juice but when he was very congested the apple would gather the phlegm and he would through up the little pieces of apple and all the phlegm gathering it and he was better
