I could never eat on speed either
A dietitian instead of a doctor perhaps?

You should be seeking professional help for her!

Try giving her some multivitamins prescribed by the doctor because they help curve an appetite

There is a med that my kids were on to help with the loss of appetite. Its called periactin. The generic name is Cyproheptadine

The medicine could certainly cause this, but she may also have a sensory issue and the texture of certain foods cause the gag reflux. I would definitely talk with her Dr. There is medicine to help with increasing apetite, but you want to get to the bottom of the problem…good luck. Have you tried protein shakes with fruit blended in?

My son use to gag on food, still is very restricted as an adult… He is aspergers where the sensation texture and feel of things in his mouth is an auto gag… I can’t see his sensory issues ever changing but he manages… 23

Take her to a gastroenterologist!

It is probably the ADHD medications. Try getting a nutrabullet and make her some shakes with fruit and throw in some greens. My son is a fussy eater and I make those and he likes them so he gets some fruits and vegetables. Ask the doctor about any supplemental nutrition options. He also like peanut butter banana milk shakes. Ovaltine is another go to for me. It’s important while they are growing and developing to get nutrients. Good luck💖

Need to talk to your dr and get her into counseling

This sounds a lot like Sensory Processing Disorder. My son has it. Please talk to a Dr, don’t force her to eat anything she doesn’t want. She may not be able to physically eat it.

Perhaps a throat or swallowing issue?

I wondered if this could also be a form of Emetophobia, which I have. Do some research and look into it. Getting her into some therapy could be an option :slightly_smiling_face: best of luck!

Its the meds . They are too much . Ask the doc to back it down a little or try a different one . I made my daughter
Eat before she took her meds . That helped a little too

Sensory issues I’d say or control get her to a specialis or an OTDietician

I hate all these meds drs quick to perscribe…i dont trust those drugs sorry

My sister is on meds for adhd she lost ton of weight and it curved her appetite tremendously.

The medication could definitely be a cause of it my daughter has has to eat breakfast before she takes her pill

Its thr meds killing her appetite…if you wake her up earlier in the morning feed her the biscuits and gravy, then give her medicine before you drop her off, hopefully that will help

My friends daughter had this issue when she started her ADHD meds and she was always a decent eater…they switched her meds and she did much better…then she started gaining alot of weight on the new meds. Be careful with this. Meds are tricky esp on little bellys. It could be her meds curving her appetite or it could be something deeper medically or psychologically

The medicine will make her not hungry. Don’t plan on her eating until 8 or 9pm. At that time, she will eat everything in the house

Draxamphetamine which treats ADHD is known to be like the drug speed and often turns kids off their food this is just advice I’m not a professional but my pediatrician said make shakes zing everything up and they can just drink that because they’re more likely to drink than eat.

Gurl…I’d look into that medication…good luck

My brother was on ritalin and he had no appetite due to it. Id discuss dosage with doc

Fucking stop feeding the kid pills. You are fucking her up bad. Detox from sugar and other junk and your child will return. Bet. I raised 3 autistic kids. It can be done.

Talk to the doc that prescribed the medication. May need to start seeing other professional. Kids with needs change as they grow. What works today will not work for tomorrow has been the rule at my house for the last 5 year’s.

I wish my 6 years old daughter will just be like yours and stop liking food so much. She’s so big she’s wearing size 13-14😔

It’s definitely the meds… my kids are picky eaters so I buy them the breakfast carnation drinks and give them one a day…they love the vanilla flavor.

There was a girl on virgin 1 TV am. Could help u. She went through that with her son. Went to America. And now it’s her busy. She was very good. Look her up.

Dont waste your time on facebook.Get her some professional help. The answers arent on here.Good luck!

Those meds do mess with the appetite

Similar experience…talk with doctor, feed before meds…one suggestion that was helpful was to provide very small portions at a time…a full plate is visually overwhelming…offer only foods she seems to like…I don’t have all the answers but these ideas helped.

I eat like that too if any thing at all. Don’t stress out about it. Long as she’s still eating, there’s no problems. The med could be causing the decrease and suggest talking to your doctor if you’re that concerned.

It’s from her medicine, I’m on medicine for ADHD and a side effect is loss of appetite, and change in taste, so the only things that reaaaallly taste good will have strong specific flavors, and many textures will be repulsive. I don’t like breads anymore, I can’t do many bland things, lots of water because I constantly have a yucky taste in my mouth, sour things will taste good, spicy flavor but not hot hot will taste good, chicken is the one meat I crave with sauce to dip that’s very flavorful, but I’ve become very picky. Also in the evening is when I’m most “hungry” because my medicine isn’t in full effect

ADHD absolutely causes appetite suppression I know adults who use it strictly for that reason. You may want to consult with doctors as me personally don’t feel that a six-year-old should be and that take medication she’s a little girl maybe she’s rambunctious but she should be allowed to be & to play. Some children just need a little bit more patience When being raised

I had a neighbor that would let her go off the ADHD meds on the weekends and as soon as it was out of her system she would eat! Then put her back on it Sunday night in time for school. Goodluck honey I dunno if this helps or not but you could try.

She will eat when she is ready and the more she is being pushed to eat the more she will not eat

She needs a mental health specialist. No advice from Facebook is going to help you with this.

How long has this gone on? Aside from the possibility it’s the medication, it’s possible it’s a phase. I’ve raised 3 six year olds, on my fourth now (he’s 7) and they do sometimes do this yet. Mine did anyhow. When they are growing they eat like autumn bears. When they aren’t, they don’t eat at all. It ends around 8yo if I remember right. (My older 3 are 22,21,&16 so I may be slightly off time wise🤷🏻‍♀️lol) and every kid is different. Hope you figure it out😊

The med is an amphetamine!!! You know, a duet pill!!! That was its original purpose!!! Then they found out that it had a paradoxical (opposite) effect in most children, then they began to use it for ADHD and were able to relabel and re- patent it to make more money.
However, your child seems to be susceptible to the side effects of the drugs!!! Try other meds.

My son used to have that problem. He’s taking Adderall XR and it helps him so much. A side effect is it lessens their appetite. My son was never gaining weight until his Dr put him on a med that increases his appetite. Now he will eat all day long and has gained weight.

My son has/had that issue when taking his ADHD meds. We switched meds to a shorter lasting one and he won’t eat all day but then when meds wear off he is starving.

My son is on adhd meds plus anxiety meds. His dr put him on cyproheptadine which is an appetite med and he took it once a day for about a year and has gained weight so we just recently took him off

My daughter doesn’t have behavioral issues but she is on a medication that suppresses her appetite… she was referred to a nutritionist and placed on a supplement (Boost and Carnation Instant Breakfast) because the nutritionist said that on days where she couldn’t eat, didn’t feel like it might be easier to for her to drink her meals… perhaps something like that might help your daughter until the doctors can figure out what’s going on… some insurance will cover if it is needed as well so definitely check with your daughters doctor

of course it’s the meds!!! its speed.

Have you had her evaluated for a texture issue? This could be a possible cause.
If she’s on meds for ADD/ADHD most cause appetite depression and also effects the same part of the brain that meth does in adults. Maybe rethink natural remedies and cognitive/behavioral therapy… no judgment mama, just trying to give helpful suggestions. I have a child with a texture issue… took her to 3 years and six months to even get on the growth chart… we tried everything and then some, then finally figured it out. Hang in there! You’re doing a great job!

Definitely a check up with her doctor that’s a good place to start

Is she stressed, I know of a child doing this she is super stressed.

My son was on meds for adhd, the Dr told us that the side effects is loss of appetite.

I have a 7 year old grandson hoops the same way he used to eat everything in sight when he was a baby but now 2 or 3 bites And that’s all it wants to eat says hes full. The pediatrician said given pedia sure or carnation breakfast drinks whenever he wone to supplement his meals so I give him 2 or 3 A-day sometimes but if your daughter likes chocolate milk give her chocolate milk it’s better than nothing

Talk to her doctor could be a underlying issue hun

My son had the same issues. At around 5 years old it was determined that he had serious adhd, odd, and more. The meds seemed to work for a while. Then after a while they wouldn’t. Some of them had terrible side effects. One made him pass out. One gave him bloody noses. Another gave him major weight gain.
Another gave him uncontrollable vomiting. There is no magic pill. There is not a cure. It just takes a mountain of patience. A lot of positive reinforcement. Stick to your rules. Know that what takes some children one or two times to learn behavioral wise, will take a child with adhd, and odd will take about 75 times. Good luck, and I hope your not alone dealing with this.

Have you tried cottage cheese? A child with sensory/texture issues I know, her staple food she loves is cottage cheese. Sometimes mixed with a little milk?

I think it is the medication. Have observed this with children. Talk to your dr.

Have you taken her to the dr to see if there may be a medical reason behind this?

Praying u find an answer. Show her what it looks like if u don’t eat.

My oldest daughter is now 33. We put her on Ritalin at 10 and she had the exact same reaction along with being sluggish. She told me that she didn’t want to take them anymore because she felt so awful. So I put the pills in the trash and brewed a pot of coffee. Everyday she had coffee and the next teacher conference was interesting the teacher said the medication was working great. She was shocked when I told her my daughter wasn’t taking meds. I’m not saying throw out meds but if something natural works then let thy food be they medicine. Always talk to your child’s doctor before changing anything. In our case drinking coffee worked to get her through school.

We had tha problem with my son tha has adhd severely and they changed him to Methylphenidate and he hasn’t had problems since hes still a lil over active sometimes but his eating has improved a whole lot eats more now than ever and he had lost 10pds in one month just talk with ur doctor and they shld help if not I’d get another opinion hope this helps u

Two things one it could be the meds (it could just be a delayed reaction to it) get pediasure
She may not eat much but at least she will get some nutrition from her drinks and try protien bars for snacks

If she’s not going to eat much u can at least do what u can to keep her healthy

It’s def the meds!!! I struggle with this also and couldn’t imagine being a kid being forced to eat (which they def need) it’s just extremely difficult. Good luck, sounds like some other ladies have some ideas that might be helpful.

Take her to her doctor. My son did the same thing when he was on medicine for add and we stopped it. He started eating.

My nephew is that way. Before meds, he’d eat you out of house and home. Since being on meds, it’s pulling teeth to get him to eat. Some days are better than others. Encourage eating, but don’t force…it can cause more issues later. If she’s underweight, talk to her doctor. Make sure she’s taking a good multivitamin, drinking water, and what she does eat is healthy.
