Hey mom’s, quick question. My 10 month baby is eating something that is causing really bad diaper rash. Like she poops and within 5 minutes her whole butt is red and cries like it hurts when I put on diaper cream. I’ve been trying to have a food journal to figure out exactly what’s causing it. But how do I know what it is? Am I looking 24 hours before the poop what she ate, 8 hours, 72 hours? I need to figure it out so I stop feeding it to her but I don’t know how far back in the journal to look
Is she eating anything citrusy?
Has she eaten something new in her diet? Some babies are sensitive to new foods. One of my kids was. Or have you changed soap or brand of diapers?
something acidic is my guess.
too much juice can do it.
definitely take to the Dr, can also be a type of yeast infection that needs a script for nystatin
Start over basic. Give het 2/3 days the same foods and add one new thing a day.
Corn startch baby powder helps with rashes. Dr had me use it for heat rash on my daughter. Helps heal it faster while keeping her a bit dryer
Start withholding something for 72hrs.
Start with fruits. So, pears, apples, pineapple, etc. Avoid mixed products. If it isn’t a fruit, start eliminating veggies.
Cut out any juice too. Try to stick with water and milk.
And try to bathe her when it happens. An oatmeal bath and get some Gold Bond Baby Powder. Cream bottle, red top. It’s amazing and better than cream. Creams can keep it from drying out and healing.
She teething .ore it eggs.ore use pure soap flakes .stop chemical.wrap her in a towel around the waist .leave her open …use ashton teething powder.and zinc and castor oil baby cream.give her capol for pain …buy a teething ring .type you put in freezer to go cold …fresh air help the bottom to heal .
Is she breast feeding …look at her gum …
It sounds like too many acidic fruits and or juices?
It could be the diapers. She might just have sensitive skin and the diapers aren’t working for her.
Wash her bum with pure soap .pat it dry then leave nappy off …if stool keep going loose see the doctor .but give liquid
Warm water .reduce her sugar and juices.
My daughter did this with slettrawberries, I didn’t let her have them again till she was potty trained. She’s 13 now and loves her strawberries
Zinc and castor oil cream .buy in baby section of supermarket.
Vaseline good too .spread a layer after each soap wash .stop baby wipes it chemicals
Well could be anything …here goes how old is baby ?? Breast or formula?? Had any new foods lately?? Ch ??ange diapers, laundry detergent , fabric softener or dryer sheets … given juice or anything at all other than milk ?? Have you changed anything perfume lotions bath soaps … has baby been on any meds lately
… started daycare or had has help attending to baby ??? What have you done so far to tend to the rash ?? Is it spreading? Is it feverish?? Does it seem to itch or irritate baby ?? Has baby been sick recently fever runny nose teething … most importantly what does your doc or nurse say
Is she teething ??? Saliva changes and becomes more acidic so I believe
It could be the nappy/diaper itself giving her the rash. Or maybe not enough water
Don’t feed a while before bed incase baby poops in her sleep and plz order this right now both my girls had terrible diaper rash we tried every diaper cream possible this stuff is by far the best thing it even tops the stuff the dermatologist gave us also bleach baths helped us too!
Anything acidic and too much fruit will also do that plus sensitive skin put some Vaseline on it for skin protectant but lay off fruits and add more fiber
It was strawberries for us…
Try slathering her butt in coconut balm or something similar, my son had the same problem with cracks and all sometimes even blistering, but the coconut put a barrier between him and his poop. It may just be a high amount of stomach acid.
Corn starch is the best thing for diaper rashes. And when did the rash start?
Is she eating a lot of fruit or juice? Also the diapers you are using can cause it. My granddaughter couldn’t wear anything but pampers brand.
Some babies are sensitive to more acidic foods like certain fruits. Try to just give apples and pears and see if that helps. Strawberries and other more acidic fruits can cause bad rashes. Same thing happens when they have certain juices.
Brown flour in a skillet , cool down then
Sprinkle on
Rash will be gone next morning
Change to Huggies diapers. Never let even a drop of pee or poo sit, change immediately (I know it gets expensive but it’s been than baby in pain), limit acidic type foods, switch your diaper cream to a different brand name, add yogurt to her diet, one serving in morning, one in evening. I hope this helps.
Did you recently change diaper brands? Because you did it could not be food related it could be a reaction to the diaper after it’s soiled my kids could only wear certain diapers because of rashes
Does the redness persist continuously even with good cleaning, drying and powder/barrier creams? It could be a yeast infection! (Normal if you’re in hotter/muggier climate).
it sounds like an allergic reaction I would have her allergies tested and in the meantime keep her away from nuts Dairy peanuts honey gluten and other common allergens like eggs.
We couldn’t do strawberries.
Dairy did that to my boy.
Can you post what your baby eats so we can see if ours ate those items too.
Could also be due to teething. My daughter would get the worst rashes when she was cutting a tooth. It required nystatin cream prescribed by her Dr.
To this day apples give my baby girl horrible diaper rash. She’s 2 now and still can’t eat much apple bc when she poops it’ll automatically give her a rash.
Like others have said. It may be the diapers. My daughter had very sensitive skin. And she was about your daughters age when it started. We tried everything like you are doing. When she was a year old we potty trained her. Wearing regular underwear. All the time. No pull ups even. After that we had no problems. There are chemicals in the diapers. We tried them all. Nothing seemed to work…I hope this helps.she is a grown up now. ( I just thought of an idea, maybe put big girl underwear on first and then the diaper. It might work) Just a thought. By the way cloth diapers didn’t work either, That may be because we used bleach to keep them white.
Buy different types of diapers
Is she teething?? That’s the only time my 5th ever got a diaper rash
Talk to your pediatrician…
Apple is famous for doing this.
Elimination diet is the best way to figure it out. Take away one thing for a few days - once the rash is gone reintroduce it. If the symptoms come back: viola! Don’t let them have that.
Corn starch to the booty to help dry up the rash. Or butt paste.
Best thing is corn starch on the rash. Too much acidity fruits
Could be her urine not enough water
What has she been drinking? Any juices? Sounds like she’s getting too much acidic drinks or foods? Give her plenty of water to flush out her urine.
Balmex is the best for diaper rash
Could be the brand of diapers, there were certain brands my kids could not wear.it could be a number of things, my kids got yeast infections and always had to get prescription. Some diaper rash creams & ointments will burn when put on, so you have to be careful. Have you talked to the dr about it or an allergist?
Without knowing what you are giving her we really can’t help. With eating solid foods she needs some plain water, also if you are giving foods like oranges, tomatoes and other slightly acidic things, even juices you could be making her urine too strong. Give her nothing but rice cereal, formula, water, and bananas for a few days until the tash stops. Then slowly introduce new foods, 1 per week. If the rash appears again you will know what the cause was.
Stay with safe foods till rash clears then introduce one new food at a time allowing one week for each new food when the rash comes you know what caused it
It is probably the diaper, not the food.
Is she teething
As that can cause nappy rash
Leave her nappy free for a few hours each day
It will clear up
My nephews always got them with cheap diapers. But never with Huggies. Just a thought.
