My baby is struggling to poop...advice?

My baby turned 1 on September 8th … I’ve been giving her whole milk and today she struggled so bad to poop … it took her 20 minutes and when she finally did there was blood in her poop … should I call her pediatrician? Or should I just assume she is lactose intolerant… this happened with my son as well and he was lactose intolerant … I will provide pics in comments

Try 2 percent, it seems to help with easier stools than thr whole where they have harder stool.

The advice here is unreal. Sure, call your pediatrician but dairy is inflammatory and can cause constipation. Turning one doesn’t mean baby needs cows milk. There are other alternatives. Blood could be from intolerance or also straining causing an anal fissure.

Blood in my dads stool is how else found out he had cancer I would immediately call the doctor

My little one got constipated when I changed from formula to whole ,two of my children

Mine had this issue - we were told to cut all dairy completely.
It worked.

Also - to get them regular: look up chocolate zucchini bread. Finally grate the raw zucchini + 1/2 a medium raw carrot into the batter, bake in mini muffin tins.
Serve 1 with breakfast and 1 with dinner until they dynamite and become more regular. Then only one a day is needed (dinner) to keep it going.

They think it’s a treat

Did you gradually introduce the milk? You cant just switch over to whole milk bc it will shock the system.

Dont make any assumptions about your childs health. Go to the dr.

Call the Dr to be on the safe side. The baby could have strained from constipation caused by the switch to milk. But you need to be sure.

If there is no allergies,I would try to introduce almond milk.My kids (16,18,21,22)and my self, all are lactose intolerant. My kids dr recommended taken dairy out to see if that helped.Sorry for the tmi.My 16 yo no longer runs to the bathroom multiple times a day since weve cut dairy.

If the milk is the only thing different, then drop it. Cows milk is NOT necessary, there are plenty of alternatives.

My kids did this too my advice water it down some or less milk for a bit not too sure just ideas but they still get this way some days it’s just the milk

Add Karo syrup. If gets the runs back off the Karo…

I hope she’s off the bottle. Karo syrup in sippy with milk.

Prayers for your baby. Amene

Cooled boiled water.
Constipation in a young baby like that would cause blood in poo from straining to make.

My daughter will be 1 in a few weeks and her doctor told me to do 2 percent because it’s not as rich and think as whole milk she said she’s getting most of her nutrition in foods so not to do whole milk

We did a teaspoon kuro corn syrup in bottles. Always helped with constipation but we consulted the pediatrician first. Definitely go to your pediatrician if there’s issues

Put a little karo syrup in her bott les

If youve had pne with an issue i would assume the same until.you can get her tested. Change in stool is 100% a symptom of dairy intolerance

I bet the answers on the actual forum are worse than these. Jfc.

Pedialax make non addictive chewable tablets that always worked good for my kiddo

I watered it down like 75/25, as they got used to it, I would gradually do less wate. Bit my 2 youngest both struggled with pooping regularly anyways, so I would use the pdialax suppositories, cleared them out in less than a min when needed.

We had the same problem with both my sons switched them to almond milk.

No Karo syrup. If they’re off of formula, a bottle and eating whole food. Research the vitamins and what they need for their age and knix the cows milk. She’s a human baby not a calf. Doesn’t need cow milk or the fat content with added hormones.

My daughter was told to put miralax in my granddaughters drinks. They can’t taste it. Made such a difference. She still cries every time she has to poop

Get 2%. My daughter was like that.

Grape juice might help the bowels a little bit

You could also try lactose-free milk

Yes, have her seen by her pediatrician. Yes, there are things you can give. Natural remedies, and otc but you should consult her pediatrician so they can best advise you on what’s best for your child as they would know your child and her health history best.

Give fruit juice. Cherry juice works wonders. Also Apple and Grape juice. Give filtered water l for kids. She may be dehydrated. Definitely ask your Pediatrician about the Problem. I would not give suppositories because it’s not good for the anal spinctor Also laxative may be too harsh for a 1 year old.

Stop giving it to her. People have no business drinking cow milk anyway. If you’re not willing to continue to breastfeed, speak to your pediatrician about how to make sure the kid has access to well balanced nutrition without something as gross as cow milk

Water the whole milk down a little I did that with my kids til they got used to the milk in their system

brown sugar in formula hospital told me

My daughter had terrible trouble moving bowels since birth all things were tried with little results karo suppository’s enemas etc. went for a test at hospital but after being three 2 hours they said it was canceled as her pre test blood clotted pediatrician and I agreed to wait as they did blood work week before test and didn’t tell anyone blood collected was no good till 2 hrs after test to be done. They were suppose to see if she was missing a nerve. Well 37 yrs later she still has trouble with constipation. Meds usually don’t work oh she still bleeds from straining. Keep away from yellow vegetables and fruit as cause constipation. Give her water more than milk juice etc.

That’s because cows milk is for cows
