Has anyone gone to their anatomy scan and found out that the baby may have clubbed feet along with the heart not being in the correct placement? The heart is just a little off-center from where it’s supposed to be…I have to see a high-risk specialist next month. I’m trying not to worry, but I’m worried!
I don’t have any experience with it but I will definitely pray for you and your baby.
They said one of my children would have club feet and he didn’t. I just didn’t have enough amniotic fluid and I guess it looked like it on the ultrasound.
My son had club foot, so did his cousin, both are fine and it was fixed at young ages. Nothing to worry about there.
Brandi Tiara Eberhardt maybe you can give some insight
My daughter was born with a clubfoot. She is welcome to DM me
Been through the process of casting and having a tenotomy. We are currently in 12hr wear with the boots and bars.
Hang in there mama
My daughter has a clubbed foot and her’s was easily fixed. She wears Ponseti boots and bars. It started out with 23hrs a day and now she wears them 12 hours a day until she is 3. Here is a picture of what the boots and bar look like.
I was born with this I had to have all sorts done
I dont have experience with club foot but they told me my baby girls heart was not in the rite spot but the advanced scan showed it was fine. The first dr couldnt see well because of the ultrasound equipment they use. I pray your little one is going to be fine. Best of luck momma.
My coworkers grand babies (twins) were both supposed to have club feet, twin A was supposed to be much bigger than B. Babies are born, both of their feet are perfect and B is bigger than A. Don’t fret too much before the birth.
Most they’ll do is surgery or braces for the foot don’t worry he will be fine momma prayers.
My daughter had one foot clubbed n I didn’t know it till she was born but my son is 3 months they can fix it my daughter plays sports n she doesn’t remember having it now I’m in the process of getting my sons fixed now n I found out at the ultra sound they put them in casts for 6 weeks n then they have to cut the Achilles tendons n they stay casted a couple weeks then they have shoes till they are 4
My daughter is 13 now
At 19 weeks I was sent too a high risk OB because in my anatomy scan it showed what looked like a left club foot… I went for 2 anatomy scans that were ordered from my original OB… when she seen it again on the second she referred me to a high risk OB an hour and 10 minutes away. I was extremely worried had no idea what to expect and what this meant… I did tons of research on club feet… I went to my high risk appointment and had another ultrasound which confirmed there was indeed a club foot but not the left one it was the right one… I was sent for for more tests to check for Down syndrome (the lady said usually club feet are seen in babies with Down syndrome) which I would have been totally okay with I mean I wasn’t even supposed to have kids to begin with so this was my miracle baby either way. Those tests came back and he did not have Down syndrome… I was then referred to a orthopaedic surgeon in the same hospital my high risk OB was, I saw him a few weeks later and he let me know club feet are more common in boys and that this could happen again if I have another baby… I was informed that a week after I give birth we had to start weekly casting too correct it … his was called an isolated club foot (wasn’t severe) I had him just over 3 weeks early due to no amniotic fluids… a week later we started cast #1 he is 2 months old now and every Friday we get a new cast it’s fibreglass casts Thursday nights I take it off myself (just unwraps) and he has a bath then Fridays he goes for a new one put on. We’ve missed a few appointments due to him having some skin irritation from it (completely normal) so today we just got number 7 cast and he will need one more… after the next one they make a little incision to cut a tendon by the ankle because during the casting periods it gets tight… cutting it allows it to grow back properly. They then cast it again but for 3 weeks… after the 3 week period he will move to a boot until he’s about 4 years old. Starting with wearing it 24hr a day moving to 12 and then just when he goes to bed…
it’s really an easy process to go through just don’t miss too many appointments for the casting or it will take longer to correct, when you take the casts off the night before the next cast do some exercises with the foot or feet to keep it flexible do this too if you have to take the cast off a day or 2 earlier… I’ve had to take it off a couple days earlier due to getting wet from him peeing on it and him being very restless.
The cast should not hurt them… the first 24 hours will be a bit of discomfort because they forget the can’t bend their leg but after that they should be calm… you may only need 6-8 casts but if missed appointments you could need a couple more or have to start them over depending the amount of missed appointments.
I’ve added a collage of pics too look back at how far he has come with the casts and how much of a correction has been made.
I realized it’s not much to worry or stress about at all these things happen and now a days we have amazing doctors who can work miracles.
Babies bones are very soft and flexible when born so it’s a much better success rate to get the cast started right away.
They told me I’ll probably just have to tell him when he’s older that this even happened.
They also did say that around 40years old it could reoccur but not always.
Yep! My middle kiddo had clubbed feet. We found out during the anatomy scan. Please message me for any questions. The process went smooth for us. Started casting at 4 days old. 7 casts, tendonomy, and boot n bar until 3. He is a happy, healthy athletic 5 year old now!
I’m not sure about the feet. But I have a larger heart than normal and it’s off center as well. No issues here
My nephew had a clubbed foot and when he was born they gave him surgery and now he’s fine
Well I was born with a clubfoot. I’m 65 and going strong. Those were the years of experiments in surgery. Do I have problems yes but today so much better medical care than when I was a baby. I will tell you I was just fine all my life. Could do anything I wanted and still do. Most people aren’t as fortunate as I am. So good luck Momma.
I’ve been seeing a specialist for my baby clubbed feet and honestly they don’t know. Ultrasound are great and all but aren’t 100% accurate. One appt they look normal the next it’s both. Now it’s just the left. I told them at my last appt I wasn’t coming back bc they were rude at EVERY appt and there’s nothing that can be done for it until he gets here. I spoke with his pediatrician and already made them aware and got a few recommendations on Ortho Drs. I know it’s scary hearing that your baby isn’t" perfect " but in most cases clubbed feet are fixable and child will live a normal life.
My Brother was born with club feet 56 years ago they did surgery when he was a baby he is fine
My 5 year old had a clubbed foot when she was born. They’ll do a series of 4-6 cast to manipulate the foot into place then they’ll do a heel cord cut so the Achilles’ tendon will stretch and heal properly with the foot in the correct place. Next step is one cast while they recover from surgery (about 3 weeks) then you’ll move to bracing for 23 hours a day for a while. Then down to 12 hours a day. Once they’re 4 no more braces! But my daughter is now in PT once a week to keep her stretched and calf muscle built in that leg.
I had club feet when I was born. Wore the braces. I’m perfectly fine (38yrs later)
For the club foot they do a number of castings and then boots and bar when they are a baby to a young child. Sometimes they do tendon cutting or something like that.
My son has bilateral club foot, identified at the 20 week ultrasound. He’s 5 now. Definitely treatable! I was 38 and pregnant with twins so I had lots of u/s’s anyway.
My sons heart is on the opposite side was found on a scan ad 2 c a specialist to rule out different things and he was clear he asnt needed any appointments and he is perfectly fine x
My son has clubbed foot, found out at the anatomy scan. Everything will be okay! Join the clubbed foot support and clubbed foot mamas group on here, it will help a lot!
I was born with club feet. With treatment from Shriners Hospital Iam doing fine. Check into them, they are wonderful.
Clubbed foot is very treatable and the earlier the better!
My son has clubfoot but i did not find out until birth. If youd like to chat. Message me(:
Try not to stress…its bad for baby…it will take time but treatments are available if necessary . Hopefully your follow up scan will show everything is fine.
My friend son has his heart and organs flipped so his heart is on the left side and etc but he’s fine.
I was born with a club foot. Luckily it has never caused any complications in my life.
My advice only involves listening to the drs. Advocating for your baby. Insure casting is done as an infant and any surgry required.
None of that was done for me. Im paying a pretty big price as an adult. My mom was told Id out grow it. Not true. The ponsi (sp) and dobbs bar for boots is the best methods.
Do research and know if the drs act early all will be good.
If you are able go to Shriners hospital for children for club feet. They are the best!!
Don’t stress about it. It won’t change anything. My niece was told her baby had achondroplasia and issues with his brain. They stressed for 4 months and saw specialist after specialist. He was born perfectly healthy with zero issues. You can only pray on it and leave everything in God’s hands. Sending prayers for you healthy pregnancy and baby
Both are fixable.
Club feet may require surgery and braces for correction.
Aa for the heart, provided there’s room, they can move it into place with no further complications.
Don’t worry. It can be fixed. God can do anything. Prayers for you and your little one.
Club feet are easy to correct. I’m an orthopedic technician and we treat babies with club feet All the time. Do not wait for treatment get them fixed right away. The older they are the harder to correct. It’s usually 6 weeks in a corrective plaster cast changed weekly) then a Tenotomy and the babies wears that cast for 3 weeks. Then they will get the bared shoes. He/she will wear them for 12 months. It’s a very common thing. You tube so you can see the steps. Hoping the heart issue gets better on its own. Best of luck to ya! Congratulations on your baby.
Hugs and prayers for you
I’m not making light, but if your little one has an interest in ballet, encourage that!
Club foot , don’t stress. Can be fixed I was in casts and it fixed the problem, never had any issues
Have faith in God will fix any problem
My boy was born with club feet. I didn’t know until birth. He has done series of casts and 2 surgeries. He still does physical therapy, and may require more surgery. Let me tell you, it has NEVER stopped him! He has never complained of pain. He is 6 years old now. The best advice I can give you…is don’t count him out. Don’t assume that he can’t do certain things, and be okay with watching him fall sometimes. He can do everything, he just may have to find his own way of doing it. Don’t let anyone treat him any differently, and he won’t feel any differently.
Well, from personal experience, club foot will be okay… both of my feet were turned to the inside halfway up my foot. Casts for 6 months straightened it out and I do have a weak line across both feet (easier to injure but not a huge deal… I played sports and all that, broke one foot cause it folded under me in volleyball but I kept playing lol). So that part dont worry about. It will be okay and your child shouldnt have lasting issue besides a little weakness across the line where the club starts.
