My c-section scar burns: Is it normal?

Have any of you mothers had issues with stinging and burn irrational after a year or three years of c section whenever you wear jeans or any type of clothes that irritates your right side scar? Is there a numbing cream for it. Do I need to see a doctor for it?

I’ve had three c- sections its normal

I would see your doctor first. I had that problem after my second baby and it was caused by scar tissue build up.

Sometimes it happens to me randomly, it’s been a year almost since my c section

I still get it at random 5 years post c section

I’ve never had burning sensation, just numbness. It’s been 20 months since my c-section

I had my second one about 5 years ago when i wear jeans it’s still numb and gets itchy but never burns

Use the penaten cream for diaper rash

I would describe it more of a numbing sensation. It is normal. Had 2 csections. The area above and below the scar had no feeling . It can get itchy and tingles at times.

It was normal for me. 3 years later and the area is still sort of numb :woman_shrugging: i dont notice it anymore

I had severe pain on right side when I rolled over to stand up from bed. I ended up going to physical therapy for visceral mobilization.

Never had any trouble over 40 years 3 cesarean and a hysterectomy

Did your stitches get pulled out or where they desovable ones , with my first c-section I ended up with a bad infection

Check it, make sure you dont have a rash or yeast infection.

Mines almost 4 years old. Still burns on occasion, still itches, and still slightly numb

Mine still burns and itches. 38 years ago.

17 years almost since my first / pull out stitches. 15 years out from my second had tons scared tissue from first both emergency C sections staples with second rough scare. Sometimes it’s burns, itches, hurts, gets red. I can turn just the wrong way and get a ripping pain. Like I said 15 years out and sometimes it just hurts. Lol But I love those mean teenage Terrorist anyways :joy:

I would see your doctor before you start self treating. There could be something wrong.

I have one 3 years ago and it still sometimes burns randomly :grimacing: I can’t even touch the area because my nerves are messed up and what I feel does not match up to where I’m touching, it makes me incredibly uncomfortable when what i see doesn’t match up to what I feel so I just avoid it at all costs :joy::joy:

19 years ago had my 4th c-cection still get discomfort once in a blue moon

My last c-section will be 11 years ago tomorrow and the only thing I have is it’s numb by where the scar is but it doesn’t itch or burn. I’ve had 3 c sections and never had any discomfort with my scar other than numbness

My son will be 12 in 3 weeks… mine still bothers me and I’m about to have another in 12 weeks…

3 years for me, and its numb, itches at times and tingles. Has no feeling above or below, sometimes its hard to scratch because of it, I hate that

My second and last c section was almost 8 years ago, and still to this day my scar itches, and hurts, and is really uncomfortable in Jean’s, and the sad part is I can scratch and scratch it and cant really feel it, the more I scratch the more it itches… kinda like a numb feeling there…

Not cesarean scars but I have a surgery scar that’s 25 years old and still gets sensitive. My mom had a lung surgery 15 years ago and the scar still bothers her.

My fourth and last c-section was 35 years ago. My Incision is still tender from time to time.

Getting ready to have my 5th c-section and I had this problem with all of mine and doctor told me it would go away. But I have never gave it more the 4 years to find out.

Yes!i had 3 c section.if i don’t change my swimsuit right away it iterates my scare or anything thick with cotton.they gave me a cream to put on it.

Only time mine did that is when it was freshly done and I was still in the hospital after my daughter was born.

It’s due to the nerves being cut. It’s been 13 years since my C-section and it’s always been extra sensitive.

11 years and I still have all kinds of issues. I wear sweatpants or stretchy stuff because it bothers me.

I have had 7 c sections. A year later there may be sensitivity to touch but never stinging or burning for me personally.

Mine is 21 yrs ago. AMD it is tender and no matter how many times a day I try to keep it clean, it itches and gets yeasty

Oh yes. My burned for a while. The Doctor gave me some pain pills that helped s lot.

Rub vitamin E cream on your incision.

No, but it feels cold in the scar area so it seems like they cut the nerves & they don’t grow back. Is that maybe what you feel?

Not c-section but my hysterectomy scar itches all the time and it was over 10 years ago!

Yup. Very normal!! 4 c-sections over here and still experience burning sensations over 2 years later after my last birth.

12 years later and I still have a burning numb feeling every once in a while.

I had 3 and my last one was 20 years ago. And still tender

I’m almost 5 yrs out and mine still gets like that.

5 years out, mine still does this.

I spray talc free jock itch spray on it and then fold panty liners and put them over the area and secure with belly band. I can’t deal with it.

Yup. You’re pretty much screwed. I have had 2 c sections and 3 other surgeries that involved cutting that spot. I can’t wear anything but leggings pulled way up over my scar, sweatpants or dresses. I miss my jeans :sob::sob:

My scar is 12 years old and still burns sometimes. Ive had 3 of them myself.

I sometimes get really sharp shooting pains going through mine and found it sometimes gets really itchy so I went to the chemist and asked if there was anything and they gave me clotrimazole which works wonders would highly recommend xx

So I’ve been using frankincense oil on my scar, and the burning itchy feeling is going away. Good luck!

My csection baby is almost a year and a half and my scar burns from time to time, im glad it’s not just me

Its caused by tiny nerves that were cut during surgery!! I’ve had several surgeries over the years and some of the scars itch and burn like crazy!! I don’t think nothing can be done about it!!

How long ago did u have the csection? I had 2 of them one in 2013 and 1 in 2014, the only issue I have is numbness where the scars are. I’ve never had burning/stinging tho that’s different. Have you told your ob gyn about it?

Yes, nerve damage from the cut. No fixing it.

It’s a keloid scar. One that’s deep and leaves scar tissue that will itch. I’ve never had a c-section but have 15yr old scars on my foot from 13 stitches that still burn/itch.

The numbness persists in my scar twenty years later!!

Yes, and you cannot scratch the itch because it’s numb. 3 sections here, a tubal and a final scar revision.

Burning and numbness is perfectly fine I’ve had 3 c sections and have experienced both burning and numbness. Almost a year since my last c section and I can’t stand tightish clothing on my scar.

Oh yeah mine will burn itch hurts every now and then
They cut through not only skin flesh and muscle but we got through i use lotions hot shower or not use tight cloths

8 years later and mine still burns or itches…if i stand up too fast get major muscle cramps on the right side which is actually still numb

Yes 2 years later and it’s still weirdly numb time to time and itches

My son will be 26 next week and I still have issues with my scar.

Yup. I had 2 in 2017 and 1 in 2019. It will itch and its impossible to scratch. It also burns periodically. I glob vaseline all over the scar and top with pads and then use a belly binder to hold in place It soothes the itch and is cool so it helps the burn. If you dont feel the soothing-ness theres not enough.

Yes a year later mine burns or it can be itchie at times

I just had a c section 7 months ago and mine burns and I can’t have anything on it still. I’m still wearing leggings cause it hurts .

20 plus surgeries including 2 sections so… yup. Its nerve damage and I have it too.

Terri-Lee Bruff-Gannaway -what we have to deal with for the rest of our lives

Almost 6 years later the skin itself is numb but it the tissues and muscle underneath still gives me pain. Jeans are a no go 90% of the time. Pretty sure mine is permanent nerve damage from growing too fast while pregnant and being cut open when my skin was at its limits.

It’s often either irritation from the hard tissue rubbing against the pants or nerve regeneration. I get sharp pains/itch/aches periodically and my OB said that the nerves regrowing was the cause. I have had a vertical scar since 1994 that got bothered by the zipper in jeans my whole life, and I just wore thicker/higher underwear to put a barrier between me and the jeans.

Going on year four. I still don’t feel completely normal but for the most part it’s healed well. The “bubbled up scar” has gone down. So jeans don’t bother me as much but sometimes it still irritates the scar so I wear yoga pants often. I’m not numb anymore but for about 2 years it was weird. I remember pain there but not enough to say if sharp pains are normal. It still itches sometimes.

I had a c-section almost 16 years ago. The scar is still numb, occasionally gets really itchy, and if I move or stretch the wrong way I get a shooting pain across it.

Mine itches and tingles even two years on xx

Mine is 4 months old and only had the nerve damage burns for the first month. I’d get it looked at and see what they offer you

Yes I did and still sometimes do

I’ve had 3 csections. It’s normal. Most likely nerves and scar tissue

I can’t feel the area where mine is and I had c section twice

12 years here. if I’m in the wrong position and cough OH LORDY THE PAIN.

13 years since my c-section and it will still cause a little discomfort here and there.

27 yrs ago for me…and sometimes its numb other times shooting pain & still bleeds @ incision occasionally…any one else?

I have had 3 c-sections. Last one was 2 years ago. Its still numb and hurts when there is pressure like my kids climbing on me etc. The burning pain not so much.b

It’s the scar tissue. I’m a massage therapist and I’ve done alot of massage to break up the adhesions in the scar tissue from my c-section znd have never had any discomfort or problems with it. Until I got pregnant, and the restretching of my body has been alittle uncomfortable (Admittedly was alittle painful when I first started trying massage the scar tissue though). I 100% recommend massaging the scar tissue.

My c section scar burned for a long time. Im now pregnant with baby #3 (2month after previous c-section)and my scar is burning a stinging agian from all the stretching.

The burn feeling is real!! But it goes away 1 year on I don’t feel it now but damn it was horrible

Mine is mostly numb/tingly now but yes that’s unfortunately normal.

my almost 5 year old c section scar still randomly burns and itches. nerves take time to heal. even my scar from a hip surgery I had 15 years ago still randomly itches and I still don’t have complete sensation back.

I don’t know but mine iches still all the time and I know I gotta be fine. I’m 7 month pp

Mine didn’t burn but it itched randomly for like 8 years!!! Also it was raised until like a year ago and now it’s not raised anymore :woman_shrugging:t4:

Its the scar tissue inside try some scar cream or cortisone

After 13 years i feel numb there. I also have to shave because the irritates my skin now. :unamused:

My c section with my oldest which is 18 plus been cut open 3 more ti.es after that and fixing to again soon it never burned or stung just itches as it healed

Lanolin, cocoa butter, vitamin E. Talk to a dermatologist.

When you get a C-section they are cutting your nerves, tissue, muscle, etc to get to your baby. Sometimes the nerves don’t regenerate and the scar remains numb. Then again, sometimes they do and it takes YEARS. While they are regenerating it burns, feels like pins and needles, shooting pain.

I had emergency surgery 4 years ago for a perforated ulcer, and my scar is still like that.

My scar is 6 years old, and it still acts up.

My baby is 5. I’m in bed right now and the left side of my scar is itching, burning and stinging. Scar tissue is a bitch and everyone women is different.
