My child is sick, what can I do to make him feel better?

Please post. My son is 20 months old, and he woke up with a terrible cold he is co heated n has a bad cough he woke up a lot last night which isn’t normal cause he sleeps through the night I have him Tylenol and then he went right to bed. But this morning it is worse but hey I know it’s the cold and flu season I just gave him some zarbee’ s and I am keeping him hydrated and put his humidifier in his room any other tips? I have a two-month-old who I do not want to get sick, so I’m not going to bring him by his big brother until he feels better…is that wrong of me? He is just so little I don’t want him to get sick…

My dr advised this…if your child is woken up throughout the night with a cough they must see a dr !

Yes please take him to the doctor. A cold or flu can easily turn into pneumonia.

Vicks (in the UK) on their feet and socks on at bedtime helps them feel and sleep better and acts as a decongestant but won’t rid the cold/infection x

Yes keep baby away from big bro

I would Lysol the whole house to prevent spreading germs. Hope your son feels better soon :pray::pray:

Look, I went to the doctor yesterday because my sinus pressure was so bad. I have the freakin flu! No fever, coughing, sore throat or body aches. Do not take chances with your children!

My granddaughter has the same. The doctor told them to take her to children’s hospital. They think she has whooping cough. So call your doctor or take them to the hospital.

with my little one I give a lavender chamomile bubble bath at bed time then rub maty’s all natural baby chest rub. along with alt. tylenol & advil and use zarbies caugh syrup. and of course if there’s no improvement or fever is real high to the dr. we go.

Bring your 20month baby to dr dont chance just a cold ck it out

Honey, he’s probably getting his molars.

You have to ask? Go to the doctor

I am an RN and my advice is see a Dr NOW! Don’t wait to see if it gets worse or better. Sheesh.

Get him medical care.
That WILL make him feel better :person_facepalming:

Have u called your child’s doctor to make sure you r doing the right things and yes keep your two month away.

Vapor bath is amazing. Put the bubbles in a warm bath and stay in there as long as you can. Also, call your pediatrician, just in case.

If he will drink pineapple juice it works to relieve a cough

Your fine just keep pushing fluids and get him kids Vic’s! It helps a lot! Maybe also a kids nose spray and if it gets worse obviously call the Drs! Good luck!

Call your pediatrician

Push fluids more than anything. Popsicles are okay too. If he gets a fever or cough gets worse, call the Dr.

Your two month old probably still has immunities still built up and probably won’t get sick, but I understand why you’d want to take the precautions

Keep on breastfeeding the antibodies in your milk builds baby’s immune system little to no chance of getting sick. Pedialyte for the 20 month old.

Sit in the bathroom with the shower on, hot water only and let the steam help, it’ll break up mucus. Kids vics or they have a natural one (I Think by beechnut) that is amazing too, they also have Johnsons body wash/bath that is menthol That helps my kiddos. My kids had it and I rotated Tylenol, Motrin and either cough medicine or Benadryl (if their fever was broken) at bedtime to help attack that congestion. Push fluids too, avoid milk and other dairy. Orange juice, pedalyte or watered down Gatorade helps too.

Call your ped. My 19 month old had the same thing a few weeks ago. It literally came on overnight after she had been fighting off a cold all week. Took her to the doctor and was taken by ambulance to the hospital because she had pneumonia and respiratory distress. Your ped. may tell you to come in just to play it safe, or may just tell you to ride it out. Only he/she can diagnose your son’s symptoms. This cold going around is no joke. Better safe than sorry. A quick phone call beats days at the hospital.

Not wrong of you to keep the baby away, its smart and a safe call. call your pediatrician to make sure it’s just a cold, if it’s the flu or something else that could super super dangerous for both of them. If his cough is dry and barking take him into the bathroom with you, sit him on your lap on a closed toilet lid and turn the shower on hot to get some super steam going, it’s like a humidifier on steroids. Cuddle him but wash your hands and change your shirt before going to the baby, maybe have one shirt to wear for taking care of each kiddo right now.

Definitely see the Pediatrician. May be pneumonia of flu neither of which you should try to diagnose or treat on your own.

Put Vic’s on the bottom of feet and put socks on. Somehow it gets into their system and helps break up congestion.

Go to the Dr, wash your hands alot, chicken noodle soup helps,

my daughter has been using these for my 8 month old grandson. & let me tell you, they work & fast too! & they are all natural, so baby can take tylenol too if needed.
We only give our baby 2 tablets at a time, & he cleared up in about 3-4 days.
My daughter got a bad cold also, & with breastfeeding, she took these for a few days & she got immediate relief also.

Keep him hydrated and let the fever work. Let his immune system work while keeping a close eye on him. Hold him, cuddle all day. If you are breast feeding the little baby should be fine as your body is already giving him antibodies to the sickness.

Maty’s Chest rub, helps ease the airway and open it up better.

I used to set my alarm so I could continue medicating during the night.

Callnur pediatrician

If he gets a fever it’s indicative of an infection and you need to take him to the pediatrician to figure out where the infection is coming from other than that you’re doing everything right I would suggest buying infant saline drops suctioning out his nose so boogers don’t get backed up & go to his lungs and cause pneumonia, put some matys baby chest room on the back, front of his chest and at the bottom of his feet after a warm bath and put him in some footie pajamas and it will do wonders. However if he is having a hard time breathing or is not getting better but worse definitely take him to the doctor right away.

The changing weather doesn’t help him to stay well if they’re real sensitive to the change of weather but if they got any worse I would get him to the doctor everybody’s getting flu shots but a lot don’t believe in flu shots I’m allergic to flu shots the last one I got I never stopped getting viruses I still get viruses and I haven’t had a flu shot for about 9 years maybe even 10 but I still get the virus because they have virus in the flu shot and they say oh you won’t get sick if you’re not allergic to eggs I’m not allergic to eggs but I’m allergic to the flu shot so the virus in it must not have been dead it must have been alive because I still get the viruses so now I don’t get him anymore but not everybody’s like that

Take your baby to a doctor

I give my 7 month old and 7 year old onion syrup( cut onions with sugar sprinkled over it, left over night) Drink small amounts of the juice) at the very first cough or sneeze I hear! I live by this! I started this since my baby got out of the hospital in March, he had flu A and B. :disappointed: At only 2 months… my daughter was sick so many times last year her doctor suggested we might have to home school her. I have noticed a HUGE difference since starting this… but please know this does not take the place of a little one needing to go to the doctor! You be the judge of that

No when my son is sick I make sure anyone with a cold or even a runny nose stays away for atleast 24 hours. Try giving him a Luke warm bath if you cover him up only cover to the chest leave arms out incase he gets fever it will set the body temp to shut it down.

Now days don’t take a chance take him to the Doctor.
