My child wants to go to bed with juice: Advice?

Take it away. It’s really bad for their teeth and they don’t need the sugar before bed.

I had bottle rot when I was a baby and didn’t get my adult front teeth until I was in the 5th grade. I was made fun of all the time and it could have been avoided but not going to bed with a milk or juice bottle.

Start watering down the juice little by little until its water.

Cut the child off. You are the parent and there are going to be challenges. Do what’s best for the child.

We absolutely never gave anything to drink except water before bed after our child was off formula. There are better options than juice. Water, sugar free flavored water, etc. you can also water the juice down with more water to juice. But I would just avoid it all together at bed time.

Just start putting water in her juice. Each day increase the amount of water that’s in it and in theory eventually it will lead to just water. It worked for my son.

You’re the adult… take it away, it’s not good for them to have sugar or milk sitting on their teeth. If they are they thirsty they will drink water. :woman_shrugging:

My lil drinks water only. He won’t drink milk and has never had juice.

Water down the juice gradually till eventually it’s water, patience is all you have

That will cause her teeth to get rotten even milk will do it as well!!!

Dont buy juice…maybe try flavored water.

No drinks in the room I’d make them get out of bed and they can get a drink of juice but then you have to brush your teeth I’m sure they would get tired of that real quick

You’re just going to have to deal with the tantrums for a minute until she moves on from it. It’s really not good for their teeth to have juice at bedtime.

Who is the parent here?

Only water after they brush their teeth

Just say no and dont give in

Just don’t give it to her :woman_shrugging:
If she gets thirsty enough she will drink the water

When my kids especially my son stops drinking water and refused it, I stopped buying any juice, tease anything. I started squeezing a little lemon juice in the water and it was a win. Now they ask for it all the time and water is not an issue. I maybe you could try something like that?

Tell her be quiet and take this water or get nothing at all, who’s the boss here? Remember mamma you are mom not friend. You can’t give them what they want all the time bc it leads to tantrums and things like this. She’ll survive without the juice, give her water.

Flavored water packets. Look like juice and taste good. Dollar Tree has some

“You get water or you get nothing” Simple as that…

Start watering it down a little at a time till it’s just water

Let her freak out. Who’s the parent HER?

Water only unless you want her to have silver teeth

Nope I wouldn’t let mine. Once we’ve brushed teeth they know it’s only water after. My kids only get watered down juice as is though because juice itself has so much sugar

Try water with ice? That’s what worked to wean my kids off juice and now they drink only water unless we allow them to have something sweet after they finish dinner on the weekends. And even then we water it down

Sometimes the answer is no :woman_shrugging:t2:

Swap juice for water then eventually take away bottle all together

Maybe try zero sugar water flavoring.

You’re her mom. Deal with the freak out. Water or nothing.

Some people.
Try finding something like crystal light. It’s essentially flavored water. No sugar or anything in it.

Water can be especially hard for some people to enjoy and some kids just don’t like it. Not to mention if they’re not heavy drinkers, they’ll get dehydrated and water won’t help.

So I recommend finding juice alternatives.

Lmao. This is why I believe in selective sterilization. If you can’t say no to your child, you shouldn’t be having them.

Nope cut drinks out at 6 or 7 bed with bottles and cups are bad ideas for teeth and well it’s a chocking hazard

I’d say give here juice in a cup that way when she lays down and tries to drink it spills all over her. Then at that moment she will rethink her life decisions :upside_down_face:

Let her freak. You’re mom. She either gets water or nothing. You will regret this so much if you don’t stop it now. So unhealthy for not only her oral health, but all of her body.

Let het freak out, juice is horrible on teeth overnight.

Give them water and if they’re thirsty they’ll drink it. Otherwise, the answer is no. Stand your ground and let them have a moment alone. Walk away, go take a second if you’re getting overwhelmed.

Try adding ice to the water something differnt u know and only do that for bed time were it’s something special

Let her cry. You’re the boss, and you need to do what’s best for her.

Don’t give her juice.

Maybe try those flavored water things the one that you put a little squirt in the water most of them don’t have sugar in it and it will give her the little bit of flavor but no sugar to rot her teeth.

Slowly water it down till she doesn’t want it anymore

Just wait for all her teeth to rot out then you won’t have to worry about giving her juice at night.

Tell her no your the Mom. Juice will help erode the enamel right off her teeth. Tell her the truth that the juice will make her teeth rot out . Switch to water your the adult.

My guy only drinks water with a tiny splash of juice

She’s freaking out because that’s the why she knows you’ll give in to her. If you want her off juice. Offer water and tell her thats the only drink she’s getting. And leave it at the. Don’t argue with her. Just walk away.

Give her a flavored water packet with no sugar in it.

Mio… tastes like juice…

Let her cry. Water or nothing. It’ll cause Teeth rot; my sister lost her 4 front baby teeth because of it.

My sister was put to sleep with watered down juice every night. At her first dentists appointment at age 3, she has 16 cavities. Let that sink in. That’s 4 appointments, thousands of dollars, and misery for your child. Let. The. Kid. Freak. Out. They will get over it in a few days

Make her brush her teeth good afterwards?

Put your foot down no is no. Distract because if not she can have a lot of dental issues and that will be awful for her. Cavities are painful and have to be taken care of or they can cause infections.

Once mine were on milk instead of formula they didn’t get sippies or bottles at bed time.

Dilute the juice little by little

Quite simple, be the parent and say no

Be her mom not her friend if you say no that’s what goes. Put your foot down and shut the door let her cry it out.

Why would you even give her juice before bed in the first place any way? I hope she brushes her teeth real good after…

Water the juice down so slowly she doesn’t notice till it’s finally just water

Tell her juice has sugar bugs only at night. And they will eat her teeth. Show her some Google pics of kids rotten teeth…

I’ve worked in dental for over 32 years and the worst decay we’ve seen are kids who drink too much juice, also remember milk has sugar too, so always try to brush their teeth if they have teeth.

You know you’re in charge right? :joy:

Lord your child is going to have insane dental problems and rot out their baby and permanent teeth. Stop. Immediately. Do not do things for your kids that are completely unhealthy for them and can harm their bodies… we are responsible for them. Cold turkey stop. They can have one juice a day diluted with water at dinner time etc and then brush teeth well before bed. Nothing but water after brushed teeth. Worked in dental field for years- father is a dentist. We don’t even buy juice in our home. They should be growing up on water, some milk, juice is not nutritional or healthy it should be a treat not a daily thing usually.

Let her freak out you are her parent she does not set the rules. But if you want to break the habbit brush her teeth with a very minty toothpaste then give her orange juice, it will taste terrible. Or give her sugar free flavored water, or water that has a slice of lemon in it.

Fruit juice contains sugar and can damage their teeth!

She is upset. She doesn’t understand why your saying no. It’s normal. Your job is to do what is best for her even if shes upset about it. Stand firm in your no. She will get used to it

You’re the parent. Tell her no!

I put mostly water and the rest juice for my son . He can’t tell the difference

Your baby is going to have so much pain and suffering if you let them go to bed with sugar all over there teeth. Deal with the freakout and after a few nights it’ll stop if you don’t give in and they realize they’re just not going to get it. I’d only give water for bed time. Good luck

What happened to parents parenting their children? Parents are the ones who are supposed to do and teach what is best for the child because you are the adult! Teach your child that no means no!
