MY childs father asked if he could claim one of our kids this year and idk if I should let him…pros and cons?
Whats your custody agreement?
If 50/50. Each parent gets one child to claim on their taxes.
If not. Whomever the child lives with most of the time. Should claim all children.
If he supports the kids through the year is the right thing to do
If he pays support and is involved in their life, why wouldn’t he be able to claim them? Usually if both aren’t are involved, they rotate years. Thats the fair thing to do.
The money belongs to the child. Not the parent. Who is most likely to use it in the child’s best interest? If you’re the main financial supporter you should claim them. If his child support covers more 50% of their needs including shelter, utilities, food & unexpected needs then let him claim them.
Check tax law……tax law also supersedes child support laws and custody agreements.
The person that claims them get the ctb
Check the tax laws in your state. Unless you just want to be generous
My parents had a divorce decree and they did every other year for claiming us on their taxes.
Uhm if he doesn’t have the child more then 6 months out of the year then you claim him. If you are open to give him money from it that’s on you. But whoever houses the children more claims them.
If he’s got the kid more than 6 months of the year, yes. If you have a court order that says you switch off years, yes. If not, no.
It is who ever has primary custody and physical placement that claims the kids
If u Bern the main claimer stay that way.
That money belongs to the child’s
You’re gonna screw it up and then I have to pay back
Does he actually father? Pays his child support without problem and actually there for child why not?
