My daughter is breaking out...advice?

Hi ladies, my almost 10 year old girl is breaking out like crazy! She plays sports so she does sweat a lot. She is starting to become self conscious about it. We used ceraVe, but it really didn’t help. Any recommendations on a good, safe face wash for kids? Thank you!

Noxzema. Then good old fashioned Clearasil or other salicylic acid topical cream. Also see a dermatologist to verify it’s acne and not rosacea or something else, and they can prescribe something stronger if needed.

Im following!! My daughter is 10 and literally just had acne pop up in the last month and she’s already freaking out! I am telling her the less the better…meaning keep all “stuff” off her face…
Her hands, makeup, lotion, all of it…just use a mild cleanser morning & night

We just watched a special on all the junk in all the “skin care” and it absolutely does nothing or makes it worse. But who knows if that’s even true! I’m 45 and have dealt with acne/clogged pores my ENTIRE life. I don’t care if it cost $2.00 or $200.00, nothing has ever worked, ESPECIALLY with the clogged pores :sob::sob::sob:

I struggle with acne and do a lot of sports! I find that using witch hazel toning wipes after sweating greatly reduces my acne, and I carry them in my gym bag! Hope that helps!

I like to use a gentle cleanser like CeraVe or goats milk soap on my skin to help create a strong barrier. Things with tea tree, menthol, and eucalyptus work well for acne!

Hands down :raised_hands:t3: This is what I use on my daughter and it cleared her face within the first couple of washes.

Heads and shoulders is the only thing that works for my acne.

Good luck! My daughter has been dealing with this for awhile now- has been to dermatologist and on minocycline for awhile now- there’s not much dermatologist recommended due to her age.

My now 13yr old daughter who plays many sports was struggling with acne on her whole body. We tried everything out there for like 2 years and it helped but never really took it away. We spent 100s of dollars on acne stuff. The only thing that truly worked and she still takes it daily is Lysine vitamins. She has not had one single break out or pimple in a year now since taking these daily. We seen 3 dermatologist and finally the last one we saw actually recommended this vitamin and it has been a miracle for her. We haven’t bought any acne stuff for her since she started taking this. She does however still wash her face with safeguard antibacterial soap and that’s it.

Might be a sign she’s sensitive to something in her diet

Antibacterial soap! Have her wash her whole body in it. I’m a chunky girl and deal with sweat and acne on my body mainly and this really helped.

Cerave acne wash get the 4 or 10%. Not the regular. Also it could be hormonal and while cleansers may help they won’t get rid of it. She may need to see a derm. ODS (17) derm had him on a couple cerave products, he was also on doxycycline, clindamyacin and tretinoin. It takes awhile of both morning and night cleaning with a clean cloth. But also she may end up needing BC to help with hormonal break outs but it’s a little early for that.

Sounds crazy, but head and shoulders works wonders. My 14 year old uses it for his face and he stays mostly acne free.

Take her off dairy if she consumes it

As an esthetician (with a teenage daughter), please find a local esthetician that specializes in acne, even more specifically the Face Reality acne line. They have extensive training in the different types of acne (there’s many different kinds), and can recommend the right products and treatments that are customized specifically for her! The great news is that it’s an affordable line & will give results. Treating acne is more than just a face wash as well… what is her current routine like? Also remember that hormones will start to add in as a factor for some types of acne.

Dove soap wash in morning and at night

Better to work out what’s causing the break outs in the first place
For me it was eating certain foods

Honestly, after having two teenagers, just start with a dermatologist. It’s gonna save
you time and money

Witch hazel wipe face down twice a day

i really think it changes person to person. i tried everything, even prescriptions from a dermatologist. Curology was the only thing that helped me. (I get a personalized formula, not pver the counter)

my daughter and I both like the zit dots too. super effective for the random pop ups

La Roche posay. Completely retexturized my skin

I recently got my daughter The Ordinary and it’s working great
