My daughter is constipated...what can I do for her?

My 2 year old daughter hasn’t pooped since Monday. Before I get over worried and rush her to the doctor do any of you have a remedy that could be fast working?

Prunes, :kiwi_fruit:, reflexology or belly massage ( YouTube) hope this helps! Nothing worse, especially if their stomach starts to get sore.

Rectal thermometer… Is she crying? Does she have gas? Is she in pain? If she is in pain it may be a good idea to see the doctor. Could be more than just constipation. Try and stay away from the miralax. Prune juice and butter. Warm it up. Milk of mag and warm prune juice work too.

Prune juice
Apple juice
Apples
Do a massage of her belly you’ll need to do a little pressure tho
Pedia-Lax which is a liquid glycerin suppository and it should work within 15-60 minutes and it’s a once a day thing and it’s number 1 recommended amongst pediatricians for kids.

It’s Saturday morning, and she hasn’t since Monday? I really wanna believe this question wasn’t written today.

Okra helped straight away

Try having her move around, play and run around.

Apple juice or apple sauce

Warm bath, pears, pear juice, prune juice. No dairy.

Give her to eat two ripe bananas at bedtime. And a glass of water. And let her drink orange juice. When I was young I noticed when I ate fresh corn I would need to go to the bathroom.

My daughter had this issue and was under paediatrics. Drink as much water as she can, it’s mainly dehydration that causes this. Get her to have as much as possible and it should help

Movicol, start with the recommended dose, then double the dose everyday until she poops. Then go back to the first dose the day after and see how it goes. Take her to the paediatrician if it happens again.

This might sound a bit out of the box
But try a tablespoon of cooking oil

Try giving her tangerines it worked for my daughter

Syringe warm water in her bum, obviously don’t go in too far but it seriously gets things going

Syrup of figs has always being for kids

Lots of water and straight prune juice.

Maybe gripe water? Not sure if that’s only for babies tho

Warm orange juice and honey

Try Milk of Magnesia and lots of water

If none of the above work talk to pharmacy. Maybe children’s colace suppository. Have her drink lots of water. Hold the milk!

kiwi fruit let her eat as much as she will

If she’s on the toilet give her a lil bit of sweet coffee and put her feet on a chair or something, you want her knees higher than her hips.

Don’t give her any toast or crackers, give porridge, weetabix fruit plenty of water and exercise, ask the chemist for a liquid laxative suitable for toddler’s.

REAL grape juice, peaches, apple cider (not juice)

Visiting the pharmacy is probably a good idea- they’ll give you something to get her started. Then keep her regular by adding more fibre to her diet. Pear is a good one that babies tend to like. As well as chia seeds.
Avoid apple, banana and rice until she’s regular.
Also increase water intake

You can try these they work pretty quick my daughter use to suffer really bad constipation when she was this age and the Dr put me onto these yes you do have to insert the tip into their little bum and squirt out the stuff but it does work pretty quick the other thing is get some movicol satchets and start mixing it with her water or juice it will help a lot as well I will post picture below good luck mumma been there so feel your pain xx

When I had a newborn who needed help I was told mango.
There are other fruits as well that help with constipation. Like prunes of course.

(Karo syrup given as home remedy.)

We’ve also had pediatrician have us give Miralax.

Here’s a link to see how other fruits that are known/thought to help.

Lemon essential oils below the belly button

A big glass of pure presses apple juice

Apples apple sauce vegetables

When my daughter was constipated I bought infant suppositories. They are gel like. Have to hold it in there part way. It works wonders. I would however call her Dr. Keep something on hand for next time

Try water with a tablespoon of sugar of that doesn’t do it then you may have to get children laxative

Kiwis. Warm apple juice with butter.

High fiber fruits should do the trick. You could also give her a small amount of magnesium citrate and that will definitely do the trick.

Full strength Pear juice. My doctor told me and it works in bout 20 mins.

Castro oil. Put on a cotton ball. Put it in her bellybutton and cover with bandaid.
Poop will soften up and flow right on out.

Chocolate bar or a little bit of tea/coffee should help. When I say a little big I mean like 2 small sips or a small chocolate bar.

My daughter used to get really bad constipation. We would give her whole milk and she would be constipated so bad. By the time she finally went it was like a rock, so hard for her to get it out. We switched her to 2% milk and that really made a difference for her. Hope this helps out momma!

1/2tsp of Milk of Magnesia twice a day is what our pediatrician recommended for my 1yr old. She struggles with constipation. The juice and fruits didn’t work.

A little Kero syrup in her milk. Makes it taste sweet and she will poop!

Doctor will say it’s normal and give you laxative if you push it. I started buying sourdough bread, doing my own kefir ( she hates it but I make her to drink it), also making kombucha. It helped a lot

Prune juice or apple juice

Karo syrup, prunes, or prune juice

If nothing has worked do an enema.

Prune Juice. 30 minutes for my toddler.

Warm bath sometimes gets things moving also

I’ve done this with all my babies - crazy how fast it always worked for us, you can see full videos on YouTube :woman_shrugging:t3:

Give her some apple juice even if you dilute it with water. It will help

Our doctor prescribed Miralax, at the age of 3, 1 teaspoon of powder in a small glass of juice, daily. It truly was a miracle and saved my poor child from the pain of passing a hard stool. Please talk to your doctor before giving to your child. I hope this helps.

Prune juice & these stretches. It worked for me so I use it on my daughter too. Works great. https://youtu.be/IvAx7q2LKqk?si=_mZ3h9GOwXDtGhUj

Prune juice the best ever

Prunes, apple juice, apple sauce has worked for my daughter a couple times!
