So my daughter has a tonsillectomy and adenoid removal surgery on Wednesday over the weekend she developed a serious cold nose constantly running low grade fever coughing every breath just about. I called the doctor office this morning let them know I would like to reschedule he said she’s fine. She should still come and get the surgery as long as she doesn’t have a fever over 101.5 and as long as she isn’t throwing up. What should I do? I know doctors know more than me but I feel very worried. She’s 4.
My son had his removed on the same day he came down with RSV and it was brutal
Trust your gut. Someone’s title doesn’t mean they know EVERYTHING. I’d follow your gut… momma’s intuition is a thing for a reason!!
Most drs won’t operate on a sick child just post pone it
Trust your Mama’s intuition
My son got his tubes in his ears when he had an ear infection. However the infection wouldn’t go away without the surgery. But normally they won’t operate on anyone sick. I got sent home from surgery for a 101° fever. If you don’t want to do it, don’t. Reschedule or get a second opinion. Tell them it’s a scheduling issue, not that the baby is sick.
It’s your child! Don’t let her doctor decide if you want to postpone. Her condition can aggravate during and post surgery. Can’t understand why doctors would say that . It’s all about $$$$.
The surgery will reduce the severity of the cold. The doctor is right, as long as there isn’t a full-on fever or vomiting. We did this while sick and it knocked the “cold” right on out.
Trust your gut but she’ll be on broad spectrum antibiotics in the hospital.
The surgery will remedy her getting sick so much as well.
If she was too sick, they would absolutely cancel.
At the end of day, You have to weigh her being sick repeatedly vs when they’d be able to reschedule her.
Dr’s don’t operate on sick kids.
