My daughters periods have been coming every 2 weeks...advice?

My daughter is 13 and got her first period mid-July. Last week she got her 3rd period - it’s been coming every 2 weeks. With it, there are days she has horrible GI issues and severe cramps. Is this all normal for first periods? Will her body likely adjust over time and become regular or does this warrant a pediatrician visit?

I would take her to the gyno not the pediatrician

My daughters pediatrician told me it takes 2 to 3 years for it to fully regulate

Definitely a visit to the gyno. Not the pediatrician.

Take her to a gynecologist

My Daughter was the same way . She started in grade 8 and only regular this year grade 11.

It can take a couple years to totally regulate, but even with that, i would schedule her with a gyno just to be sure that’s all it is. But definitely gyno, not pediatrician.

It takes a while to regulate

If it’s less than 21 days from 1st day to 1st day she probably needs to get it checked out. It’s not unusual at that age to get periods every two weeks that last eight days. If it’s more than 21 days it’s incredibly annoying but perfectly normal. (I felt terribly guilty having a 32 day cycle whilst my kid had a 21 day one!).

Skip the pediatrician and take her to see a gynecologist. Pediatricians aren’t equipped to know if what she’s going through is normal or if there is a deeper underlying issue.

It was the same for my daughter when she had her first period in January but there was none for the whole of august

I was a little younger than her when I got my very first one, my mom was quick to jump to birth control on me & made it so much worse on me!
I had horrible cramps to where I’d ball up on the ground not caring where I was & would just cry because of the pain, I would bleed for weeks at a time as well it wasn’t until after my first baby was born right before my 21st birthday ( like a month before ) I noticed after they started coming back that they were coming how I always thought they came once a month & usually always by the first of the month I never thought I’d have a regular period it took maybe a half of a year for it to actually Regular out.
I am fully against using birth control to try to regulate it ( everyone is different tho ) it made mine so much worse than before I had ever taken it.
There are some lucky woman out there who only bleed 3 days out of the entire year my aunt was one of them.
My best advice is put rice in a sock like a long one & you can either put it in the freezer or zap it in the microwave for heat & it’ll help a lil bit until you get her into the dr try Midol as well they have these new heat patches for periods I only got to try it once before getting pregnant again but totally worth it if you ask me! They have different kinds of menstrual midol pain relievers that you can try on her as well! I hope this all helps please contact a Gino also known as a obgyn for more information!

Agree - schedule with gynecologist. Asking primary care provider for help might get her in sooner.

I’d go to the gyno. It can take about 2 years for them to regulate but if she’s having other issues, she should be seen.

See a doctor check her harmone and iron level.

I would make an appointment with your doctor. That is not normal. I was like that and come to find out I had cysts on my ovaries

I recommend going to a gyno. I had very similar issues and it turned out to be PMDD and all the info they were able to give me helped me cope immensely better

Not to scare you but take her to a gynaecologist! My daughter did that they were so bad so painful. She has endometriosis. And for a year a massive cyst was growing in her belly beofee we caught it.

Our doctor said it’s normal for the first few years! Now it’s regular to the day for my kids. My 13 year old just started being regular 3 years later.

My 1st 2 years i was 14ish on 14ish off it was horrible! Was told it would regulate eventually.
