My husband told me I was too old to be an LPN

Good luck, go for it, never too late

I’m 32 and I’ll be graduating with my LPN in June and won’t have my RN until 34. If you want it go for it. Most of my class is late 20s and I’m not the oldest.

Never to old to follow your dreams… or to change jobs

I finished our local LPN program in January 2022. I started January 2021, so a year long program. I’m 36. I worked doubles on the weekend, and have a 7 and 3 year old. I managed to graduate Valedictorian. You get yourself through LPN school, and you dump that idiot for not having faith in you. Life doesn’t end at 30.

Go for it. I went back to college for nursing later in life (age 34) and it was worth every minute of it.

You are not to old!!! I will be 33 when I complete my rn degree because I’m taking the long route and doing part time school so it will take me years and that’s ok!!! You’re husband should feel shame for shaming you on something YOU want. I think perhaps he’s the one that’s too old for you lol

No, you’re never too old for anything when it comes to following your dreams and your passion. Your husband on the other hand should be supporting you, not discouraging you. Life is too short to live with regrets! GO FOR IT! YOU GOT THIS!!! Good luck :sparkling_heart::hugs:

No ,fallow your dream, age is just a number.

If he cared about you, he would support you in all your dreams and goals. It sounds to me like he doesn’t want you to be independent. He is trying to hold you back! Just do it! Then say “Told you I could”
Good luck :+1:

How is that too old. He doesn’t know what he is talking about

Go for the LPN and you can always study for the RN later. And your husband is flat out wrong. 32 is not too old to get your degree. I have a friend who completely changed careers in his 40s and became an RN.

Never to old to improve yourself!! Go you!

You are definitely not too old, you have a good 30 years left until retirement and plenty of time to start a new career two if you felt like it!!!

Go for it. If you are doing something you love you will always be young

You are never too old for anything You want to tackle!

I went to college to become an LPN when I was 42. Graduated top of my class at 44. It’s never too late to follow your dreams.

There’s no age rule out there telling people when they can start nursing training or get a PhD or anything else. The world is open to you.

The oldest person in my nursing class was 67…he is wrong

OH he is a “WACK JOB”. CNA’S, MED TECH’S, LPN’S, NURSES often begin their education much older then you. I have a close friend who was a CNA at 27, Med Tech at 29. Going g for LPN & Nurse by 36. I know people older then that that are attending school at 40. No issue. Go for it. God Bless you. Many have left the field due to the idiot vaccines &I agree with them. Be Careful.

Why are you listening to him. Do what makes you happy

You are never too old to go back to school! You are in your early 30s your life is still “just starting” at that point. Go for it girl! Never let anyone crush your dreams.

What??? Surely you don’t believe that! I began a LPN program when I was 21. Bridged to RN when I was 35. I was married with 2 kids. It’s NOT too late. Go for it!

Girl. Go get your LPN!!!

Do it you’re young. Follow your passion and heart

My mom went to be an rn at 40! It’s never to late! There are people in their 50’s and 60’s that go to college, there’s no age limit in education!!

Lol this old ass lady’s 35 going for her RN

Oh heck No! Older nurses are often the most loving a nd caring. Some of us are nervous about those young “ whipper snappers” I’d rather trust someone with some life experiences! You go girl!

Don’t let know one steal your joy. 34 is not even old so go for it & never let know one tell you what you can’t do, but I like to tell you to get rid of him b/c if he’s your man than he should be in encouraging you to go for your gold & not telling you that u are old. Drop that 0 & get a Hero.

He’s an idiot your not to old do it it’s your passion

Not too old. GO FOR IT!!

Never to old to follow your dreams and LPN and anything in the medical field is needed. Heck my kids pediatrician didn’t go to school for a doctor until she was like in her 30s. He sounds jealous my 3x husband was when I went for my PCT, phlebotomy and Cena

Do it some people just don’t want to see another person succeed or worrie u will be making more money.you need to do what makes you happy.he might have a fear of you might not needing him.just do it while u can

Go for it!! You’re young

Go for it! Go for a 2 year Associate degree program for RN. After that, you can start working as an RN, while going to school for your BSN. most places will provide some tuition assistance.

Wow what a rude thing to say. You are never to old to further your education in something you are passionate about. I say go for it. I am waiting until my kids are much older to go back to school and work on getting my rn.

Do what you need to do for you. God know you are needed. Never to old to learn new skills

I am an RN, and I would not advise 2 years for an LPN license. Spend the extra time pursuing your RN. It will be worth it in the long run.

No, you are definitely not too old. If you would rather do RN instead of LPN I would definitely do it. You could still get a job as an RN with an Associate’s degree and it’s not much more school than LPN. RNs open more doors and make more money too.

My sister n law became a RN in her 50s. Go for it.

Don’t let him hold you back and honestly if he’s not supportive now imagine during I say he’s jealous dump him choose your career and marry someone else who is supportive and loves you

That’s a load of crap…back in highschool my home economics teacher quit and became an RN when she was 48 never to old to start anything…if people discourage you its because they’d be to fearful to take a leap into something new themselves. GO FOR IT

Let me give you some 20/20 hindsight. Never listen to your husband about anything ever! If you want male’s advice pick one of your coworkers that you admire and ask his opinion. Male coworkers are generally more open to tell you your true strengths and true weaknesses.
32 is not too old to pursue a nursing career if that is what you want. Go for It! In two years you have the degree in hand. And you might want to look into as to why your hubby is saying you’re too old. Smh.
I wished I had ignored mine and got my Pharmacist degree.

You’re never too old to continue your education. My mom went back to school when she was 50 & graduated !
Your husband needs to learn to support your goals & dreams & if not then you do what is best for YOU.
Best of luck :two_hearts:

Dear Abby used to say, in two yrs., you will still be 34, and not be a LPN. Why not go for it, and be a 34 yr. old LPN!! Your husband needs to mind his business and praise you up, not bring you down!!!

My MIL did it in her late 40s. She went for her RN in late 50a

You’re still young! Follow your dreams

Why would he want to discourage you from going after your dream?

Go for it !
Nursing is so more diversified than it was in the 70’s when I graduated

My best friend is in nursing school and is 37-38 years old. Go for it!!!

Giiiirl, when I was in nursing school at 26, there was a little lady there in her 60’s getting her RN. She said her husband was always the bread winner of the family and she always wanted to be a nurse. When he passed, she went and got her degree. Last time I had to go to the ER, she took care of me! You are never too old to do whatever the hell you want to do!

Definitely not to old. I’m going back to school for my education degree and I won’t be done until I’m 37. It’s never too late to start

We have Rm programs that can be completed in 18 months

I went to school when my kids were all in full time school graduated with my Lvn/LPN at age 34…do it! With age comes a commitment to school that some of my younger clinical students did not have.

Nevermind him. Do what you feel passionate about in terms of work

No you are not too old

Are you in Utah? If so, Utah has gotten rid of their LPN licensure (or pretty much on their way out of using it) and replacing it with Medical assisting. I’m a medical assistant and LOVE it. We do everything an RN does except push medications. Just like an LPN.

Go for it!! Never give up and never back down! LPN could be a steppingstone to become a RN.

Do it! Get the LPN, then find an employer who will help the cost of your RN! Even if you don’t finish till you’re 40, a 25 year career puts you at retirement age. Follow that dream.

Do it! Sometimes some men have a fear of their women flourishing because they are afraid of their woman not depending on them and being able to leave if they have the means. Which is a sign that you should definitely do it because you never know when you’re gonna wish you could just leave if you wanted to.

Do it!! There is a major shortage of nurses everywhere.

I was 52, and got my LPN. I just kick myself for not pushing to get my RN. You aren’t too old. I loved it.
