My sister in law told me if I didn't get rid of my pets she wouldn't come over anymore: Advice?

Get rid of the relatives keep your pets

That’s almost like telling you to get rid of one of your kids. Boy, does she have nerve to threaten that she won’t visit. Bye bye. Tell her to take the drama train somewhere else.

Keep your childrens pets, you and kids visit sister-in-law at her house

I’d tell her to kick fucking rocks🤷‍♀️

They are wrong…pets are part of the family to & your children love them…

It’s called benadryl … I’m allergic to cats and so are my kids but it’s manageable :woman_facepalming:t4: you can’t expect the world to cater to every allergy like that lol

Tell her she can get allergy meds at the local pharmacy lol

Tell her to get over herself.

Get rid of the sister in law.

Uh you keep your pet… what the hell

Keep your pet. It isn’t your sister in law’s call.

Screw her. They should have medication to help with it

Yeah no! My pets are my family !

Ew she is definitely toxic.
You keep your pet.

A pet is for life. Meet her in a restaurant or park

Buy another cat, and tell her to kick rocks!

I believe there are other ways to handle this besides getting rid of a pet. Your cat is a member of your family. There’s absolutely no way that should even be considered.

Keep your pet. You can visit at their home.

This is why I love animals more than people. Your sister in law is ridiculous. Her daughter can be tested for allergies and take medicine for them.

Keep Your Pets Their Are Allergy Meds Made For Pets Dander or To Fur Allergies.

Lol they wouldn’t have to cut ME off  If someone told me I had to get of my pet for their benefit when they don’t even live with me I’d think they were insane and stop talking to them myself :tipping_hand_woman:t3:

Well consider they have only visited twice in two years obviously they ain’t that family orientated so I would tell them to deal with it as your cat is family too

Sister-in-law has to go sounds like a winner. Complainer.controll freek. Tell her to kiss ur ass

I could understand them saying they just won’t come to your house, but cutting you off completely is quite extreme. If it wasn’t about your pet, I’m sure it would be something else eventually.

Pets are family members if they don’t like then no worries because the pet is in your house not theirs.
Meet up in their house its less cleaning and preparing for you then

Then she wouldn’t be coming over anymore :woman_shrugging:t2:

Keep your pet. My husband is severely allergic to cats and medicates himself to go to our friends house who has cats

Do you hear yourself? Your house. Your family. Your pets. So oh well they won’t come over? No biggie. Y’all can go to a park for the kids to play. Let them be dramatic. But you even doubting yourself is weird on this one. I wouldn’t want to medicate my kids just to have a play date at your house but I also wouldn’t be telling you to get rid of your pets lol. Compromise and meet outdoors. Easy.

Keep your pets! They will be fine. You guys can always visit them.

Can’t live your life following others rules. How terrible, I’d not let them over anymore. Pound sand, I’d say.

Lol tell her to see a dr there stuff for that and keep your pets

Lmao I wish someone would tell me that. Shes being ridiculous

They have NO business telling you to get rid òf pets or else they will not come any more
Family or not DO NOT allow them to dictate to you when that is your home and especially these pets are your children’s . NEVER ALLOW PEOPLE TO CONTROL YOU or they will walk all over you and in the end you will lose the children’s respect. AS far as I am concerned they are people to keep away
I have a family member who is very allergic to cats so that person when visiting takes allergy pills and is quite fine. BE FIRM NO GETTING RID OF THE PETS!!!

My son is allergic to cats. I never once considered asking a family member to get rid of their pet. Lol the idea is crazy.

Is there visit all that important, I would just go get a few more!

My house is the home of my two dogs they shed they sit on furniture they love company BUT if you don’t like then there is the door!!!

Just go get another pet even if you have to borrow them from your neighbors, take a picture and send it to your snoody sister in law. Count your blessings that she want coming around anymore.

Maybe she should be a responsible parent and actually get her child allergy tested and then put on allergy meds. I would never get rid of one of my pets because someone outside of my household had an allergic reaction. There are other options to see them where they don’t need to come to your home.

Ok but she doesn’t sound like a person you’d want over to your house anyway so fuck her

Good… You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life🤣

Um no! Never allow family to dictate ANYTHING to you about YOUR pets!

Tell your Sister in Law to go kick rocks in traffic.
I don’t know what works she lives on where she can dictate what another household should do.
Keep your Cat & get rid of the SIL!

I would say cut it off… they are extremist and it is your house!!! They cannot tell you what to do or not do with your pets!!! If my sister in law and family were like that well I have good relationship with them but it is their problem if they don’t like pets not mine, my house ,my rules. They don’t like it ,then they are not welcome here.

Keep your cat, just meet in neutral locations when you get together.

You meet at the playground at the house with no pets we don’t get rid of beloved pets we can put them away yes but we don’t get rid of them.

Guess gatherings at her place. Less stress on you both.

Keep the cat. They don’t pay your bills.

She’s a selfish cow…keep your cat…

The cat is your family and that home belongs to your family and the cat bye sister in law jk but really the cat is family you don’t just go rehome your kids so maybe her home is better or a public place

You can’t miss what you didn’t have

Tell her, nice knowing you. Maybe we will see you at family functions at other families places. If not no biggie. Animals are family.

This is what you do…
Bye bitch

She is ridiculous. Of course you shouldn’t get rid of YOUR pets in YOUR house. If her daughter is allergic, the you guys can just have visits at her house. If she’s not OK with that then FaceTime, Skype, or Zoom will have to suffice.

Tell her there’s this thing called Claritin.

I didn’t even read all that. Bump her, that’s your house. Then end. :tipping_hand_woman:

You keep your kid’s pet. Don’t take the pet away because of someone else’s stupidity. Your pet seems like it is family and well loved. Keep your pet.

Guess they would be cutting me off :woman_shrugging:t2: my pets are family too and they wouldn’t be going anywhere.

Throw the sister in law away! Keep your cat!

Tell her that’s all right. My pets are more important.

The level of entitlement she has to demand that of her family is astonishing. The world does not revolve around her and her daughter. Is she going to demand that from everyone that comes into her daughter’s life?

Bye bye Felicia… :joy_cat: pets give you unconditional love and are better than some “family members” :stuck_out_tongue: you and your kids are going to be better without her!!!

You should keep the cat and adopt four more to be sure. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Dang it…: I’ll still send you a Christmas card tho, maybe even slip in a Benadryl!

My mom has fairly bad allergies to animal hair, she breaks out and itches really badly. I have two dogs, and she knows unless I bring them, I won’t be visiting. She simply takes an allergy medication before I get there and just keeps up on them for the weekend. She now loves them (won’t admit it) and they love their Nana!

(Before there’s anyone bashing about disrespect, she’s a medical dog for multiple reasons, and my other one is just for love and cuddles)

Yeah tell her suck it up or be gone! It’s your house! She doesn’t have to come if she can’t take a benadryl etc…

Your sister in law sounds toxic.

I would tell your sister in law, that yall can meet at the park or something. Have a picnic. Go do stuff together, outside of your home. There’s no reason for her to cut people off for not getting rid of their pets. And there’s no reason, you can’t make a compromise, and just spend time elsewhere? If they don’t live near by, they can get a hotel room, while they stay. But if she can’t handle that, then she’s being unreasonable and I would hate not hanging out with my niece, but that’s on her mom, for being unreasonable about it.

Maybe your niece could start a desensitisation program at the doctors .

It’s your house, keep the pet. Id go visit them but if she’s that bad she won’t allow at least that then she’s being a little too over the top

Get rid of your family pet for someone who almost never comes over. Uhmmm hell fucking no. I’d probably get another cat just to make sure sil stays fat away.

lucky I wish that’s all it would take to get rid of mine :woman_shrugging:t2:

Does she pays your bills or rent/mortgage ?
Find a new SIL, … and get more cats

Good she doesn’t have yo come over

You’ve been in your house for 2 years and they have visited twice? Please don’t waste your time accommodating for people who barely make time for you.

keep the pets they are family

Tell her that you won’t do anything of the sort unless she gets her kid allergy tested and it comes back positive… then tell her to suck it up and give her kid Claritin before they visit.

This sounds extremely over dramatic. They want nothing to do with u, I seriously doubt that. We don’t get rid of our pets because other people have allergies. :woman_facepalming: I can’t believe this was even posted. I mean c’mon common sense. U said they’ve only visited twice in 2 years. Why would u even consider getting rid of your cat for that???

My kids also have a cat that’s very much a part of our family. I would never get rid of her. If someone is uncomfortable with her, they don’t have to visit.

I think you keep the pet but they obviously won’t be able to come over because of the allergy. Maybe try getting together out somewhere or at their house?

Well it was nice knowing them. Have a good life!

That’s her choice. Really she should take her daughter to get an allergy test before she starts demanding other people’s lives.

I am allergic to cats, my family knows this. I have really bad allergy attacks when I visit friends and family who have them. I’ve never asked to have them put away. But they do it when they invite me over. If they have only visited you twice, cut THEM off. Not your pets.

If they don’t live with you keep the pets.

Give kid or kids allergy meds or don’t come over. My children suffer from animal dander allergies, but that doesn’t stop us.

I have 4 pets…2 cats and 2 elderly dogs. I have “people” in my world that I know dont like coming over because of the fur and all the other dislikes of a houseful by some people. I do the visiting. Am happy to do so. I get to a place in my timeline and leave in my timeline. Problem solved. If anyone asked me to get rid of my pets that would make them the person who doesn’t belong in my world anyway. This should be an adult outcome thinking about the kids.

Wow smh she already made that decision for you. Have a nice life tell her!

They are wrong. Period.

Oh well I hope you write pets are loyalty and love stick with them

Let you kids keep their pets, byeeee sil!!! Some people aren’t meant to be in your life…

She can just not come over. I’d never get rid of my pets for someone with an allergy. I’d just go to them when I wanted to see them.

There is a very good invention that they may have heard of called: wait for it… ALLERGY PILLS. She needs to get a grip on reality and just butt out; pets are family members. If she wants to hang out she can do so in another location like a park or maybe at her own home!!! Don’t listen to her period.
