I need advice, my son is three and we brush his teeth every day. We have been using fluoride free toothpaste which is 0-3 years and stage 2, he did fine. But recently we changed to toothpaste with fluoride, which is stage three and he hates how “spicy” it is. It’s a battle in the morning and night to brush his teeth. Any advice? Thank you in advance.
It’s the minty flavor that he finds spicy. There are plenty of kid’s toothpaste w/fluoride that are different flavors. Most stores carry some.
Get a toothpaste that isn’t mint flavored. My oldest daughter refused mint toothpaste for the longest time and it was such a battle. My advice is to change toothpaste flavor and maybe get some sugar free mint gum so he can adjust to the mint a little at a time. That’s what I did
Use different brand not mint. My kids used strawberry I think it was.
Tom’s with fluoride strawberry. Only thing my sensory sensitivite son could use for a long time
hello has a dragon dazzle, blue raspberry flavor that is not minty.
Hello’s strawberry flavor will be a winner. My son hates “spicy” or hot toothpaste too, but loves their watermelon. We avoid fluoride at all costs tho!! It can cause developmental delays and other things. Look into it.
My grandson says this also, with gum or candy, toothpaste, etc that is minty, spearmint, peppermint. He says it’s spicy and doesn’t like. He likes anything fruity or even sour but not “spicy”
