My son was made fun of because he doesn't know how to use a urinal: Advice?

Hello ladies. This is a question just to see what other moms experience has been… so my 7 year old boy recently told me he told his friend he didn’t how to use the urinal. He then proceeded to tell me his friend responded with, “now that’s sad.” I can tell my son felt bad and embarrassed so I told him what did he mean by he didn’t know how to use the urinal. He said he only uses the stalls to pee. I told him it’s okay if he doesn’t know and I can have his step dad teach him. He told me no and so I asked him why not. He looked really embarrassed and walked away. I gave him some time and when he came back I asked him about it again. This time I told him maybe he can mention it to his dad when he gets his weekly visit. He again told me no and that I was judging him. I am worried his father hasn’t even realized this. Should I even be worried? I feel like my son is scared of someone seeing his penis when peeing.

Has anyone gone through something similar? If so what could I have done differently?

Did you tell him how? I don’t think he’d really need to be shown.

He’ll use a urinal when/if he’s comfortable. I would leave it alone.

I know men that sit to pee. I wouldn’t worry about it. Your son is comfortable, so why change it?

I wouldn’t push the issue, using a urinal is not a mandatory thing. Leave him alone.

Maybe he doesn’t want to talk to his mom or a girl about it. I’d mention it to his dad and ask him to casually say something to him. Also, tell him there is nothing wrong with going into the stall, especially if he just wants some privacy. Help him with some things he can say to the other boys if they say something to him again so he’s prepared next time.
