My toddler complains of tongue pain...advice?

Hey mom’s definitely calling his dentist in the morning to set up an appointment but just wanted to pick your brains. My 2 almost 3 year old has been complaining lately that his tongue hurts. I’ve checked his tongue everytime he says that to me and of course I see it every morning and night when I brush his teeth but I don’t see anything wrong or weird looking on his tongue. Is it possible it’s something I can’t see but he can feel. I just find it soo odd and I’m kinda wondering if it’s just him making a random complaint to get my attention.

My first thought if you aren’t seeing anything obvious would be an ear ache. Ear pain radiates. Good luck. I hope your little one feels better soon.

He talking too much. Tell him to be quiet more. :joy::joy::joy::joy:

Sounds almost like thrush. A dentist or a pediatrician would be a good idea

Strep . Not 100% but a family dr. To check his ears and throat would but your mind at ease

Could be a few things.
Brushing tongue to hard
Salt in food
Acid from drinks
Ear infection
Cavity
Etc.

Might have Hot Mouth Sydrome.
His tongue might be hot. My brother had the same thing

If he has been having a lot of fruits, fruit juice, or other acidic foods or drinks, then you might want to limit or cut those out for a while.

has he eaten spicy food? my daughter has an issue with her tongue when she eats too many spicy foods

Could be cramped too tongue is a muscle

My tongue hurts when I get ear infection or sinus infection. My son complained his tongue hurts when he has too much orange juice

It can be a vitamin deficiency, or a food sensitivity.

Hidden cankers is my first thought, my son just went through this. He told me his “jaw”
Hurt, turns out it was bad canker sores on the bottom of gum line hidden fat down I couldn’t see them till I pulled his lip down real far…

Could be vitamin defiençy

Possibly ate something too hot and he burned his tongue?

He could be allergic to the toothpaste, I am allergic to fluoride it makes my tongue burn and swell.

Could be tonsils, or look under his tongue, maybe something stuck under there…

I sometimes get these sores in my tongue that are like a swollen taste bud… they’re small and white and you really have to look for them but they hurt a lot.
