My Toddler's Cheeks Turned Hot Red After He Ate But I Can't Figure Out What Caused It: Advice?

If he is fair skinned sometimes that happens after my blonde hair blue eyed son eats ranch/ketchup/dressings, after they are wiped off it leaves red marks like that. Only him tho, he does have food allergies and allergist says its common for fair skinned kids to do that and not to worry :woman_shrugging: I would take pics tho in case it happens again or to show your ped!

My daughter did this but we never really figured it out which food did it but I was something she was eating. She grew out of it

Sounds like an allergy to me but when in doubt check it out!

No wonder so many young momma’s are afraid to reach out! Just look at the backlash🤬

Our son used to get this from sugar around his mouth, like syrup or cotton candy. I didn’t read thru all the other comments, but saw some commenting on the wipes and not the fact that he’d just eaten. Also I didn’t read what he’d just eaten.

My fair skinned little red head couldn’t tolerate acidic foods until the teen years. Her cheeks, torso, and back got red

My grandson had the same reaction. We later found out he was allergic to milk products and it had touched his face.

Its a skin allergy most likely

My son was allergic to jicama. It turned his checks red.

Sounds like a rash from food. My children experienced this as well. Eggs, dairy and wheat would be the first things that come to mind.

It sounds like Fifth disease.

Food allergy…something he ate?? Recall whaat he had

Write down what he ate. Could be an allergic reaction. I’d keep a log book. Allergies can pop up at any age.

I’ve always heard that baby wipes are only to be used for your baby’s bottom not their face.

Take him to a walk in? Bc he definitely could be having an allergic reaction

Irritations and reactions to things can occur even though you have used the same product for a period of time. It’s not unusual.

Did he have ketchup. My grandson turns red from ketchup.

Make a list of what he was eating & see an allergy specialist.

What did he eat ? My daughters cheeks turn red after eating strawberries, tomatoes, ketchup etc

2 of my kids would get that when they had an Ear Infection .

If its a new pack of wipes the ingredients might have changed…

Give a warm bath if. He going break. Out in a rash that bring it out to see it spread it could somethin else

Could be eczema or another similar skin condition

If you are worried go to a pediatric walk in center.

We had this in my youngest daughter and it was fifths disease

Ranch or ketchup can make skin break out.

Did he have anything different to eat? Could very well just be hives. Try Benedryl

It could be the 5th disease thats how it starts out rosey cheeks

My son is allergic to the aloe in the wipes could be the same thing

Did they eat ranch??

Food allergy, maybe?

Was he eating ranch dressing?

Take him to the dr if your worried

Contact your child’s pediatrician. Facebook isn’t the place for medical advice.

Some wipes have been known to cause allergic reactions similar to what he has.

Sounds like an allergy.

Ranch dressing has this affect on my grand daughter.

Sounds like hand, foot, mouth

Could be a contact allergy. When I was younger certain condiments that had a higher acidic level would cause my face to get red if it came in contact with my skin but otherwise I didn’t have any issues eating them.

Why are you on FB.

Take him to his pediatric ian

Depends on what he ate.

Give him water to drink…hes dehydrated

Wipes can do that… Hope he’s ok.

Don’t use wipes on his face.

Possibly contact dermatitis.

Tomato sauce did thet to my kixs.

Geez. PLEASE CALL HIS PEDIATRICIAN. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR HEALTH ADVICE AND CERTAINLY NOT FOR YOUR CHILD.

Call your doctor, not Facebook!!!

I STRONGLY agree with Jacki Mrak and Journa Tribble !

My 20 month old has this issue with everything. Sounds like he was allergic to the food. My sons doctor said some babies are just like that. If there is no signs of him struggling to breathe and he acts normal i would just call his pediatrician in the morning. Its a scary thing when you use dr. Google.

This happened to my son when I used to wipe his fave with wipes. As soon as I stopped and started using just water it never happened again

My daughter had gotten the same way after she had some oranges when she was about 10 months old, she still loves oranges and hasn’t had a problem with them since. The citrus was just a little to much for her body to handle. So it could have just been something that did quite agree with him. Same thing happened to my nephew when he ate blueberries.

It might be a form of teething. Maybe his mollers are coming in?

What was dinner?

Certain foods turn my son’s and my face red just because we’re pale. We both love spicy food but get bright red when we eat it. Even things like paprika make us red. It’s not an allergy, it’s just from being pale

Did he have anything new? Any sauces? Sounds like a mild reaction to something his body doesn’t agree with.

My 3yo son recently busted a packet of taco bell fire sauce on his face, he thought it was ketchup, and his face was red after I cleaned it off. His first birthday there was red icing from his Elmo smash cake and he had red spots all over where the icing was on him after we washed him off.

My son does that when he eats ranch. I have to wipe it off right after he eats

My son gets this way if he gets ranch or ketchup on his face while eating. I just watch him closer if he’s eating foods with “dip dip” and wipe his face as he’s eating. Then wash his face with warm water after eating. Sometimes its still a little red even after doing that but goes away anywhere from half hr to an hour.

Probably just rosacea my son has it we can’t use wipes on his face

My 9mo.granddaughter got a severe rash from baby wipes that even desinex couldn’t clear up.The wipes looked like what my daughter had been using but had a lotion added. She took her baby to the doctor who gave her a prescription ointment that has solved the problem.Re-check the baby wipes.

I’m a food allergy mom. This is how it can start. Take note of anything he’s eaten tonight. He could’ve eaten it before now and never had a reaction, sometimes it takes being exposed a few times before one takes place. You did the absolute right thing with the benadryl!! Bravo. I’d call the on call provider for their pediatrician right now and explain what’s going on and she will tell you what to look for further. Good luck!!!

Did he eat anything different or new? Even a new brand of condiments? My grandbaby had an underlying case of eczema and if he ate acidic foods and it got on his face it would cause it to turn red. Luckily he outgrew this.

My son would get like that after he had eaten like cheese or food that is hot to the skin, like any kind of tomato sauce. Might’ve just that.

If you fed him anything with tomatoes or tomato sauce that could be it. Tomatoes are very acidic. This happened to my daughter. We took her to the doctor and when I mentioned tomato sauce he said that was it.

My parents use to say my face would go bright red when I was cutting a tooth

Yea the stuff in the wipes may have changed… My son couldn’t use the wipes he came out in a rash…

Is he allergic to ketchup???

I would not use Baby wipes on his face .

This happened to my daughter, turned out she was allergic to chili powder. We had just just finished eating chili.
