Needing advice about a GI appointment

Looking for some last minute advice before my daughters GI appt. Just turned 4, chronic constipation. She’s been on Senna and Miralax every day for 1.5 years and she still ONLY poops if we give her a suppository once a week. I have been dismissed for too long but it’s the only pedi GI office in the state. Help me advocate for her

You NEED TO POOP MORE THE ONCE A WEEK. dang mom she should have been given a suppository more then once a wk! And how much miralax does she have each dose and how much water and electrolytes does she get? My son saw a specialist when he was little (he has sensory issues so he didn’t like to poop because it felt funny so he would hold it and become constipated). When he was 2 to get him started going he got half a cap of miralax everyday and needed to drink it ALL within 30 minutes and to cover the taste and to help keep him hydrated and to hydrate his poop he said mix with Pedialyte or some Gatorade (but not red colored) and to have it in a small 4-6oz glass. For my son the size didn’t work so we made a game out of it…we lined up his red mini solo cups (he was obsessed with cups and toby Keith) and we did shots to see who could get them done first and darn HE ALWAYS BEAT ME. we did that mix and game everyday for 60 days. And had to keep a log of what he ate, drank and when he went. His biggest thing is he hated water as it tasted funny and I get that some water is gross. So I would mix Kool aid or Gatorade (and make it just strong enough for the taste/flavor) and he was drinking 1-2 pitchers of it everyday and once we got him drinking regular he started going everyday, he was feeling better and also understood it was good to go! Hr is now 11 and only gets stress constipation and he has an emotionally abusive teacher this year so we are just making sure he drinks a 16oz water bottle everyday with the mix in it and he goes (as he says) “smooth as ice cream that nobody wants to eat” lol. Now myself, every time I eat within 30 min I have to go even if it’s a fun size candy bar. But I would also ask that an X-ray be done of her intestines to make sure she doesn’t have an obstruction and to see how backed up she really is

Our Granddaughter was like that, they should do like an xray, and they can tell if and how much stool back up she has. Also they can test for Tethered Cord Syndrome…she was on Miralax and Exlax to help her go. We ended up Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where we discovered because the constipation wasn’t addressed ( by the Drs) properly part of her colon had died. With treatment, most of it came back but she still has a small part that didn’t.
And ask about Slow Transit Constipation…

Obviously she needs a full workup but they need to look at Hirschprung’s Disease
