If a dad is present get him to take him in every time he goes and sit the child on the toilet to get him used to it if no man I did the the same with my 2youngest at the time when their dad passed away

Honestly my daughter turned 2 in may and I was really getting myself worked up about potty training so any way I thought I’d try her see how we got on and seriously she did amazing. She is now fully potty trained and honestly she did all the work herself really i used to panic and stress thinking how bad it will be and it was actually nothing like I thought it was totally fine. We do a massive celebration every time she loved that xxx

You can throw some Cheerios in and let him try to sink them. Buy little toys from dollar tree, get some stickers, every time he goes in potty let him put a sticker on the calender , when he gets 5 in a row let him pick out a toy. Best of luck to you. Set a timer and set it every hour and let him try.

You need a potty seat easily accessible and no pants watch for cues such as grabbing his bits or standing weird when you see those cues ask him where his potty is or gentle reminder of where it is also have a small reward for every successful potty and tons of praise every time every kid is different it take lots of time and patience

We tried having a diaper free day once a week. At first my daughter wanted nothing to do with the potty, it took a couple months before she’d even sit on it. We skipped the potty chair, all she did was play with it. But when she finally started sitting on the potty we went diaper free and put her in thick cotton training undies for day time. For night time we still had her in diapers because she knew if she had an accident at night it would be okay. Then if we went anywhere we used pull ups and called them bye bye undies. She understood that they were undies that she was not supposed to pee in but if she had an accident that it wouldn’t make a mess. She had 1 accident in her pull up on a long car ride. She was out of diapers at night in about a month!

My oldest son started training when he was told that he couldn’t go to pre-k without learning to potty. That worked because he wanted to go to school. He was 3 when he trained. My youngest son had no interest and fought it. One day, he came out of the bathroom and said he went all by himself. He was 3.5. I remember how stressful it was trying to teach them and struggle, when they wanted no part of it. My MIL said they will go when they are ready and they did. We made it fun, once they learned, by letting them pick out their favorite underpants and pull-ups. Then, they were rewarded with a sticker chart and little prizes over a 6 month period for continuing their training.

Start asap. the longer you wait after 18 months, the harder it is. get a potty and give a special candy - he only gets one for sitting on the potty - clear the whole day for nothing but this - every time he sits clap, give a piece of special candy. doesn’t have to do anything but sit… then tell him you are supposed to pee on that potty. any little effort gets a special candy - all positive nothing negative, doesn’t matter if he doesn’t get it right, make it fun. you will have him peeing in the potty evey time by the end of the day - any accident, say that’s ok we will clean it up, next time you will remember to go in your potty and get a special candy. If he wants to try even though he just had an accident - that’s great - still gets a candy for the effort.

We bought a urinal for kids,on same day he started using it - no accidents since then. With pooping - just go with their time, the more you push the more it gets delayed,be patient it will happen, just continue to educate him why one needs to poop in the toilet. Each child is different, just be patient.

Set a timer on your phone to go off every 15 min for a few days. Don’t stress him out about it. I’d sing a potty song when the timer went off, making him excited to try to go. My son was potty trained in a week. He was also 2 n half.

Get a bag of jelly beans. Give the child 1 every time they use the potty. They will be done with training before the bag is done

I bought my son his favorite cartoon underwears tell him hes a big boy and award him after he get it…my daughters were so easy to potty train…good luck

We live in the country. Taught my grandsons to per outside. Worked great, till one day Mom took them to Target. They got out of the car and promptly peed on a tree. Mom said what are you doing? Well we pee on a tree at Grama and Grampas house!:joy:

Make it fun and rewarding! Make it a game for them. Each child is different and do not force it.
Use a pull up or diaper just small enough that the child can feel that they are wet. … it seems to be doing the trick for my granddaughter 2.5yro.

Be patient. It was two months before my daughter really got the hang of it. It’s not a 3 day, long weekend kind of thing. It’s a change in routine. Kids take awhile adjusting to change. Patience is important

Dude, best tip. Go get a clear container (plastic because of the age group) put their fav candy in it. They get a “reward” every time they hit the potty. Once the container is empty take it away, because the training will be done. Remind them you don’t get a treat either.

its been years but I kept a small bottle of dish soap in the bathroom----he LOVED making bubbles in the toilet—right on to those that say get a stepstool or a platform of some sort!!

Maybe this is not the time for him. Relax a little bit. This is what I did in my daycare. I had a sheet with the day of the weeks on it and when they went potty I let them put a star by there name. I praise them when they went. And I said it’s okay will do better next time. When they didn’t. It

I bypassed the potty chair. I got a step stool and had my boys pee standing up so you don’t have to teach them twice. Also, bypass pull-ups, they feel like diapers. I put my boys in regular underwear, they peed down their legs a couple of times before it dawned on them. I also got them before the stubborn age of 2. Lol.

For both our boys we sat them on the potty backwards and gave them a marker to color but for poop we are still trying with our youngest. The oldest we told him Santa wouldn’t come if he didn’t poop in the potty. Yes I know it’s mean and Santa would’ve still came but it worked

My son was good with peeing in the potty but never wanted to poop. Not even MnMs worked. I finally convinced him to poop in the potty by making it a competition to see who can make the bathroom stink more, him or daddy. Now I’m constantly asked “mom, you wanna come smell it?” But it worked. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Bring out the potty chair in the living room so he gets used to it before moving it to bathroom. When you’re ready to train, Find favorite character underwear and place on potty chair every hour. Reward for going in the chair. Good luck.

Potty trained three boys! Started with putting cheerios in the potty to aim for! The adult men played too. Kept a score board! Usually have to pee 15 minutes after drink or 30-45 after eating to poop…time it & just let them sit on potty reading a book or playing a video game! Won’t take long till they notice the “feeling” to go! Use cute undies, their favorite characters! Don’t get up set about accidents! Scares them from trying. After an accident, put them on potty for a few minutes! Each kid is ready at different times, but when they are it easy! Good luck!

Do the naked 3 day method, I tried every other method before doing this and it was the only that worked. Get them completely naked, have them try to use the bathroom every 30 minutes, worked like a charm for us, only 1 accident and it was outside!

I tried my boy when he was 2.5.
He was not getting it for 1-2 days.
Retried when 3
No real progress.
I decided not to insist and not to press.
I tried again at 3.5.
Everything happened in 1 day!!!
Also fully night trained without any stress.
Only tip: go with their time.

All I did was left potty in bathroom and when I went toilet I took my son with me and by the time he was 2.5 he was dry during the day. Dont stress over it they will do it when ready. My mum use to tell me if u rush them it can put them of.

“Oh crap! Potty training” book. That technique worked in getting my 18 month trained by 2yrs old. There were minor setbacks from him being in multiple households but he overcame it!

My sons good with his little potty but afraid of the regular toilet and afraid of standing to pee. He’s a little weird lol

We used cheerios with my son, made it a game. My husband also always took him to the potty with him and it turned into a race…

My 3 year old will pee in the potty and walk in the bathroom alone but will poop right in his underwear and refuses to poop in either the little training potty or the regular ones so any tips are appreciated

I just took my kids into the bathroom and put them on their potty when I needed to go. Then they would want me to go when they needed to go.

I got my 3 yrs old son a potty watch, themed potty seat, potty treats, and potty chart. I was potty trained with no accidents in 2 days.

Why do parents leave it later than our generation? Is because they dont have to was nappies or because babies don’t get so sore in todays today’s pants, not a criticism because i I know things change . But most of us older ones got them clean at about eighteen months coming up to two. Try to stay home while getting clean and put pants on they dont like being wet so watch carefully and each time take to potty and lots and lots of praise , no bribery that wont work , good luck hope this helps x

We went on vacation when he was about 2 1/2, I told my son pull ups weren’t allowed on vacation and he was potty trained within 2 days. :joy:

My mother in law had 6 boys believe it or not she use to put 4 or five Cheerios in the toilet and let him aim at them to learn to pee she said it worked on every boy

Not sure about boys…by the time my daughter was 18months she could go by herself…i was a very determined mother…i will start training son as soon as he turns one…
Tip:let him wear underwear all day…

Step stool or I taught mine to pee on a tree. I found briefs or boxers were better then regular underwear my son would always pee immediately in those.

I would put Cheerios in the toilet and have my son aim at them.

Not rocket science, place the potty in a specific place make them wear undies everyday during the day let them have accidents rush them to the potty when they do. 3-4 weeks u have a potty trained toddler .
Your welcome.

Paitence and persistence nemind tips and tricks lollies in potty wtf??!!! :woman_facepalming:

2 years old with all my children. No nappies night and day.Only a few accidents.

Try playing sink em with front loops in the toilet. Make it fun to use the potty

Don’t force.
Make it a regular trip every 1-2 hours.
Quick try and when there is a return - praise.
When nothing an - oh well next time.
It’ll happen don’t get fixated.

Nooo pull-ups. Just go straight to underwear. Pull-ups are just like diapers. They soak everything up and he won’t feel any of the wetness.

My would earn a cheap “Hot Wheels” car every time he pooped in the big potty.

I put fruit loops in toilet do they had a target

No diapers or panties let there bottom be bare in the house they will go to the potty. Really works!!!

Fruit. Loops aim for the color that mom says. Teaches colors as well

Have another older boy show him how.

Put cherrio in bowl and have him aim. Make it a game.

Start with being naked and using underwear. Also ask every 45 mins

Can I get in on that deal?

Summer time is the best time to do it let them run free and tell him to pee on a tree worked with my boy😁

I used the potty myself and the toilet in front of mine.

And a treat after words works to

I used a potty chart I got off pint rest and that helped a lot

I ran an inhome daycare for 13 years. Trained many boys… i had them sit backwards on the seat at first, hold onto the lid of the toilet and aim down. You can throw cheerios in there if you want them to aim for something. When they are confortable with that - might take a coupe days up to a week or so… then have them stand and try it. I also had a potty chart i sent home with the kids each day. 2 stickers for poop and 1 for pee. Id have a prize box with little stuff from the dollar store they could pick out of at the end of the week. We would celebrate successes with me and at home. Make a HUGE deal out of their accomplishment. Call gma a friend whatever. Let them share their success… also i never used potty chairs. You wont have one with you when you are out and they have to pee. I would also take them 30 minutes after each meal or drink, at least every hour between meals. During the day underwear… night time pullups. Do not go back and forth with diapers. This confuses them. Am i a big boy or not. Start on a weekend… i always told my parents it was not my job to train their child. We were partners. We worked together.

Fruit loops in the potty.

Heaps of awesome advice!

Ping pong ball in the potty/toilet for target practice x

Outside! Sink the cheerios I. The toilet bowl water!

My son is 3… I learned that letting him go without pants & a pull up,he will go straight to his potty when he has to go… I’m still having a hard time getting him to poop on there though.

Backwards on the toilet with dry erase markers

Teach him to pee on a rock

I got my son one of these off of amazon. Hang it on ur wall… And the fun of it was he had to try and hit the orange spinning thing he thought it was so cool :joy: My son learned really quick and then switched to the toilet with no problem.

Decide when to do it, Dedicate a weekend, Block off an area to be designated area for training, potty close by, Summers are best go outside less of a mess, Take pull up away and do not go back… lots of underwear, puppy pads from dollar tree for bed, car seats, Lots of water to help them pee a lot, Pee when they wake up, before you leave the house, when you get to where you, when before you leave, before bed, before you go anywhere far away from a potty(leave one in the car if you need to) -frequently. Don’t ask just automatically do it… I do it now my daughter is 6”5, my son is 8. I tell them to go before we leave the house they “never” have to but it’s funny how many walks we have to come back to the house bc I didn’t “make” them before we left!
It’s not that bad, you just have to stick with it… :toilet: good for boys and girls :raised_hands:t3: got one of both you can do it lol

Make it fun, let them pick out their favorite underwear and tell them they can’t get them dirt(don’t poop on spider man :joy:), they usually hate being wet or dirty. Few accidents and they should get the idea.

Started potty training my first son at 2… he was full potty trained by 3.5, but with accidents at night sometimes. My second son was potty trained 3 weeks before he turned 3 and we did no training at all. He just stopped peeing and pooping in his diaper so we put underwear on him. He had maybe 2 pee accidents at night, but we forgot to have him go pee before bed so that’s our fault.

They get it when they’re ready. You can’t force it. Each child is different.

www.pottygenius.com has lots of helpful tips/tricks!

Just let him go with his Dad.

Bribery! Pee=candy poop=matchbox car

Put Cheerios in the toilet and have them Aim for them and also you can do a potty chart ! Do a potty chart on the back of the door every time he goes give him a star !

I left my boys only in t-shirts around the house so they just ran to the toilet when they had the urge to go. No hassles with pull-ups or pants, and they got it in one weekend

Cheerio’s! Works everytime

My son is currently just over 2 and has been refusing to be naked so thats been fun before he loved it, ran around didn’t pee anywhere and came to the bathroom with us but didnt use his potty wanted in our shower. :joy::joy: Boys are weird.

I always let my son pee on his dads car wheel,he thought he was being naughty.

Consistency is key. Both of my boys were potty trained around 2.5 , my youngest was harder until his daycare finally got on board then he was fine.

Fruit loops in the toliet. Makes for fun target! My son loved this
