Question for moms who pushed out an 8lb baby

Moms who pushed 8lb baby how was vaginal delivery. I am so scared I’ll be pushing one tomorrow. Edit: how quick after you were induced did things start going? I’m only 1-maybe close to 2 cm dilated

I wasnt induced but my daughter was 8lbs and vaginal birth was fine! No tearing or anything. My first was 5lbs 15 oz and came so quick that I tore so it really just depends on labor. Trust your body and it will do what it does! Stay strong momma!!! Remember to try and enjoy the quiet moments before the action those moments will stay with you forever!!!

My son was 7lb 13
My daughter was 9lb 12oz. Almost 10lb.
She was the easier birth

I got induced with my second at 7am. Was born at 4:46pm. Born 8lbs 9oz. I was 1cm before hand. Got the epidural at 3cm. To me it was not different than pushing out my 1st which was 7lb 5oz :slightly_smiling_face:

First 8lb12oz massive head was in a terrible position and tore 3B. Not induced but had general surgery for repair.

Second 8lb4oz was in a lovely place and with spinning babies stretches for hips I brought her into the world with 3 gentle breaths and minor tear. Induced around 10am, holding baby at 4pm.

My last baby was 9 pounds and took 20 minutes

If you’re 2 they may break waters and put drip which can be quicker but more painful.
My nearly 8lb one was my quickest induction 6 hr Start to finish. But 2 after nothing started until next day when waters were broke. I’ve had 5 kids none the same and currently pregnant with baby 6 will be induction again

My son was 8lb 6oz and I was induced as he was 10 days late. I pushed him out fine with no tearing or stitches. Can’t remember how long I was in labour but it was about 5 hours I think. Don’t worry you will be fine. Just remember to breathe.

My water broke, went to the hospital, labor was just one big cramp and I was miserable so I got an epidural (aahhh! Felt kind of buzzed and happy almost immediately) and 8 hours later pushed out an 8 lb. 13 oz. baby boy, though until the end it was hard to feel how to push since I was numbed. I was 5’4” and 110 lbs when I got pregnant so that was a lot of baby for me. Thank god for the epidural!

I paid for an extra day in the hospital because after the drugs wore off I was sore and tired. Took a while to feel normal and I loved those cooling pads (you crack & shake them for some sort of chemical reaction) in my underwear—begged the nurses for as many as they could find for me and made my mom get me a bunch at the medical supply store after I went home. Took a couple weeks and lots of gentle exercises to get rid of my “Jell-O bag” stomach, but went back to work after 6 weeks.

Second child was easier, labored at home all night, got to the hospital too late for an epidural. Really painful contraction broke my water, but had the baby shortly after with one push (thank goodness for a local shot of painkiller though). I had gestational diabetes with the first one so thought this one might be smaller. She was 8 lbs. 4 oz., she not much smaller and it was a much easier recovery without the drugs.

She (hormones) pushed my hips out some permanently so I wound up having to get a size up in fitted skirts & pants after that.

Too late to worry about it now

From my own experience and after reading others experiences doctors are rarely right about the size of the baby they always told me I was having 8-9lb babies my biggest was 7lb 5oz and my smallest was 5lb14oz she was 3 weeks early. Either way momma no matter how long your contractions are baby will be here and it’ll be so worth it. Every body’s body reacts differently but hopefully you progress quickly and have an easy delivery.

I didn’t have a big baby (only 5.7) but I was induced at 7pm and she came at 12.29am

It’s fine, normal size. Count your blessings, my sister had an 11lb baby.

My first was 8lb 1oz and I had to have an instrumental delivery with forceps as she was stuck so I had a bad tear. My second who was 6lb 3oz I was induced with and from start to finish was 6hrs, I was a stretchy 2cm when started and they broke my waters, waited 2 hours to see if my body would go into labor on it own then started the pitocin drip. Try not to stress too much about it. Go in with an open mind and listen to your body!

I was induced around 9pm and had bub at 2.02am. You’re going to be okay hun  one breath at a time.

My first was 7.11, I had preeclampsia so they induced me in the morning, I didn’t start having contractions until about 4ish in the afternoon and he was born at 9:01 pm that night. The second one I started having contractions around 8-9 that morning, hubby finally dragged me to the car :joy: around 5:30 that evening and took me to the hospital (I was being extremely stubborn lol) she checked and I was dilated at a 4, she swept my membranes and accidently broke my water. Baby girl was born at 11:12 that night at 9 lbs 2 oz. Both kids I actively pushed for less than 20 minutes. Had an epidural with both kids but the second epidural was awful (people have said it’s normal but I feel like she didn’t do something right). I don’t think there was honestly much of a difference between actually having them. My goal is always just to get it done and over with as quickly as possible. Good luck mama 🫶🏻

Dont knw bout pushin an 8 out bt i have done 2 9lb ders by induction wasnt too painful as both my babies helped themselves out really vag wasnt too sore after a few weeks and pretty quick labours btwn 4 n 6 hrs start to finish n both were also 10 days late ( I do have 7 children 3 were by c section 4 were vbac bt 2 of the 4 were only in the 7lb bracket)

9 lbs 14 0z child birth is painful but doable ! You got this momma

My first was 4lb 8
Second 7lb 15 1/2

Second was easier. Very quick labour and easy delivery. Less pushing etc.

I then went on to have a 5lb 10 girl
8lb 7 girl
8lb 5 boy.

Try to listen to your body and be kind to yourself. No matter how you go, as long as you and baby are OK, that is all that matters

I pushed out a 7lb 14oz, an 8lb 9oz and an 8lb 1oz and the 8 pounders were with no assistance or pain relief.

Third one I was induced at 3.30pm and delivered at 8.20pm

My middle was 8lbs & he was my quickest labour, I wasn’t induced so can’t answer that part of question, labour was just under 5 hours with him, my other 2 were 5lbs 9 & 7lbs 2 & the 5lbs 9 was my longest labour, I think baby’s weight can help progress labour quicker by pushing down on cervix

I was induced at 8am and had my 8.5 baby at 1a.m the next morning.

My 2nd was a 8lb I was induced to laps around hospital everyone left me water broke delivered 4 hrs later induced at 7pm had 5 minutes to midnight 11:55 I was also 2 weeks over due

I was induced, took an hour or so for things to really get going. 13 hours of labor, no epidural, 8 pounds and four ounces. It’s not fun by any means, but the stitches to sew up my episiotomy was the worst part. Lol

I had an 8lb 1oz Baby Vaginally. All went well, I pushed 3 times he was born. You got this. Good luck all will be fine.

Walk and let gravity help you, as long as you can

27 hours of labor for me. After a failed attempt at a cervidil induction. after about 25 of those in labor I finally started to push. It is not fun. And you may very well tear and have stitches but I promise it will heal faster than you anticipate. The only thing I didn’t anticipate was the first month of healing at home my hips and lower back definitely felt it because they felt very stiff and would Crack alot when I moved.

I had a 9lb 10oz baby boy. Wasn’t induced, went into natural labor. No epidural either. It wasn’t much different than my other births. In fact, I recovered quickly. I was showering 2 hours after birth.

My first born and only vaginal birth was a 10lb 3oz and honestly it was relatively easy as far as births go. Once allowed to push it only took a few pushes and baby was out.

My son was 8lbs 1oz and my first baby and I had him all natural with no medicine and didn’t tear but was in labor for 21 hours.

My daughter was 7lbs 11oz and my second baby and I was induced with her due to medical reasons. I was 3cm dilated and -1 station when I went in and I was in labor with her for approximately 15 hours. (including pushing time)

I went in with broken water at 8am and they started me on pitocin by 10am (my doctor was leaving for vacation and we wanted the baby out before she left haha), I had my son by 8pm! Vaginal delivery was fine for me but I also couldn’t feel a damn thing because my epidural was turned too high. Recovery wise I was a level 3 tear but it wasn’t that bad? Worst part of it was the first maybe 3 or 4 days. Nothing ibuprofen and a bag of frozen peas couldn’t help!

8 11. I told them the head was too big for my pelvis. I was right. Other than that, was fully dilated without my waters breaking and no pain relief other than TENS.

I had a 8 lb 1 ounce baby his delivery went smooth but afterwards i hurt so bad i delivered a hour away from home the ride home about killed me his sisters who were 7lbs 3 oz and 7lbs 11 ounce did not hurt me like that

My first was 9lbs 12oz vaginal delivery, I had to have an episiotomy as his head was very big and I also tore and needed a vacuum to get him out. Pushed for 3 hours.

My first was 11 pounds 5 ounces and I pushed for about an hour and the midwife helped reposition his shoulder after he was crowned for about 20 minutes without moving down more. He came right out after that with his clavicle perfectly intact. I’m thankful for her skilled hands!
I did tear, but the recovery wasn’t bad, took about a week or so for everything to heal up.

I didn’t get induced for him, he came in about 6 hours (he’s my second baby).

All my babies have been over 8lb.
8lb 4oz,8lb 6oz,8lb10oz, 9lb11oz,10lb1 and 9lb1oz

I was induced with my 6th they induced me by breaking my waters at 6:30pm i goelt contractions every few mins at 7pm then i had 9 contractions in 10mims which was a pain and she was born at 10:30pm she was my longest labour.

GOOD LUCK :heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

I had an almost 10lb baby naturally. I was overdue by a week. Surprisingly I wasn’t even in labor an hour. She came so quickly. It really was my easiest delivery. Afterwards though lol  :joy:  It felt like I had :poop: a watermelon it hurt so bad to try to use the bathroom.

8 lbs isn’t big. It’s average sized. My babies are 10 lbs. I’m teeny tiny, 96-105 lb girl when I got pregnant each time. I pushed them out and it was fine.

I did the epidural but it wore off. I refused pitocin. I was in labor for a total of 42 hours but didn’t have a big rip just a lot of small tears. Overall the OB said I would heal much quicker and better that way. Everyone is so different though. It all depends on your body and how it handles labor and if you do pitocin it will speed things up a lot. Which will most likely cause a larger tear or having to be cut. My son was 7.6 and it was 3hrs 46 mins of pushing alone. My best friend had an eight lb baby and her labor was 9 hrs and three pushes and he was out. It’s so different for everyone. Move all much as you can in the days/weeks leading up to delivery. That will help keep your core strength up and should help delivery go smoother.

Both mine were over 8 pounds. It went surprisingly smooth actually my daughter was harder cause she was my first and I was 42 weeks with her when I went into labor. My son was induced at 38 weeks cause he was 9 pounds, they inserted the first pill it didn’t do much so they did it again and started iv meds and 10 hours later he was here.

I had two, just over 8 lbs each. One induced with epidural and second without. I’d choose without (if I had to do it again). It was a much quicker recovery for me…I was up walking around a few hours later and home 12 hours after delivery. Don’t be scared! There’s no turning back, just power through … it’s all worth it!

Honestly if you get induced you could get sent home if you don’t dialate I did not and the next day I was in full labor for my first only at the hospital 6 hours before I had my kid

My 1st was almost 9lbs. From induction to birth was 13 hours I believe (he’s 13 now so I could be wrong) they had to give me an episiotomy yo get him out after that 2 pushes and he was still it. so the stitches and healing was painful.

Have birth to a 10 lb.14 oz.baby boy, easiest delivery out of my 6.

I pushed out a 9lb baby a few months ago. You will be fine

My ex MIL had a 9.5lb baby. She was induced two days after her due date and it didn’t take, she struggled for another day, and they induced her again and she then went another two days and finally pushed him out. She was never right after that.

Female body is made to deliver a baby. It usually does the job. 7#8# 10# it works

I was 1cm dilated on Friday when I went in for my induction because baby had zero amniotic fluid. He was born 9lbs 2oz and I was in labor for almost 16 hours, pushed for 10 minutes. We used the foley bulb induction method with pitocin.

My son was 10lbs, I did vaginally

I was induced and had a 18 hour labor. She had shoulder dystocia (her arm got pinned in my pelvis) and I had a 4th degree tear from her being pulled out.

Thankfully, I had an epidural catheter in my spine and didn’t feel any pain. Just severe pressure from them trying to unhook her arm. Have no idea how long I pushed

Labor typically moves slow when being induced. Active labor is generally 1 cm per hour but it could take a long time to hit active after being induced. If it’s your first baby it will probably be very slow moving.

I was 2 they broke My waters at 3pm had him at 710pm he was 7lb 11. Few more pushes than my 6lb girls but no worse. You’ll be absolutely fine. Do as your told, stay focused, breathe well and remain calm your body will lead you xx

My second and third were 9lb 6.3oz and 9lbs exactly. Delivery was much easier with my second vs my third. Second was ready and not waiting for sh!t when it came time to push. They didn’t even have time to rearrange the delivery bed, the foot part was lowered but not put away.

I am no help with induction, all mine were natural labor. My girls were 6 days over due and born the evening before scheduled induction.

First baby she was 8lbs 1oz and labor was 19 hours with being induced. Second baby was 8lbs 14oz and was in labor for 12 hours. Third baby was 8lbs 1oz and was in labor for maybe an hour and a half lll

I had both mine all natural. Went into labor at home and stayed there as long as I could to let things progress without the doctors interference. I tore slightly with my son, recovery was about 3 weeks. I was almost back to normal immediately with my daughter. 8lbs is totally normal. Not large by any means.
Ultrasounds are also very inaccurate with measuring. Don’t let them scare you. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Enjoy your last bit being able to wholly hold them :face_holding_back_tears:

I had two 8 lb babies! 8.3 and 8.9, both had long labors but very easy deliveries! I tore a bit with my first but the second you could hardly tell I gave birth.

I had a 22 hour labor with inducement and pushed out a 10 lb. Baby. It was painful but not horrible

Being induced can be awhile I was induced on a Thursday at9 pm and baby didn’t come until 8 am Saturday morning… I was only dilated 2 cm. My daughter was induced at 10am and had baby at 7:3000 pm. Everybody. Is different. Some go quick se dont

My last 2 were 9lbs+, currently pregnant again, and I didn’t have to wait a long time to start getting up and moving afterwards. I also did completely unmedicated so that has an impact on recovery. No meds were easier for me to recover from and way shorter wait time to start moving around. Not really a difference between their deliveries and my previous ones when it comes to the actual vaginal stuff. Hope this helps. Good luck and praying for a fast, safe delivery for you and baby both!

Natural with a 9 pounder. It’s ok to be scared, but you will come out the other side with the most amazing little human. Better than you ever imagined.
