Question for ultrasound techs

Are there any ultrasound techs here? I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant. At 10 weeks, I took the Sneak Peek test, which indicated it’s a girl. At my 13-week scan to measure the back of the neck, the ultrasound tech kept referring to the baby as ‘him’ or ‘he.’ Is this a common phrase used by ultrasound techs, or should I be concerned that my Sneak Peek test was incorrect and I’m actually having a boy?

I’d assume the tech was wrong before I’d assume the test was, tbh. My techs would always ask if I knew the gender before they referred to the baby as he or she, otherwise it was just “baby”.

They usually always refer to the baby by him or he well they did with all 4 of my pregnancies anyways.

10 weeks is wayyyyy too soon. Someone who told you a gender at 10 weeks does not know what they are doing. Not an US tech but I work in an OB office and know what our US techs have said.

Why be concerned? Isn’t the main thing that the baby is healthy?

They can’t tell the gender at 13 weeks. It’s just the wording she used.

Also don’t be too set on the sneak peak thing. Theres always chance of it being wrong

Girl mine was all boys but my last delivery the lady helping my doctor during my C-section was like she’s almost out! I said excuse me?! Lol

Before I knew the gender of my babies they would always refer to them as he or she. Even when we knew the gender they would still mix them up. Gender can’t be determined at 13 weeks so it’s unlikely they would know any different! Congratulations! 🩷

I just want to say don’t trust sneak peak. It has been inaccurate many many times. I would either wait for anatomy to confirm or see about doing NIPT testing through your ob as that is the only blood test that is correct

Some people just use that term, I wouldn’t use it as an indicator… a false boy result is more likely than a false girl results on the sneak peak twst

Some of you are too worried about gender instead of health of the baby.

Tech could be wrong. I know someone who was told all through their pregnancy that they were having a girl, they brought all girl stuff and was ready for baby, once they gave birth she gave birth to a boy

they’re not supposed to gender at all. id wait until your anatomy scan at 12 weeks the look of the genitals can change dramatically at 20 weeks it’s very rare to misgender. I know personally 6 people that have had wrong reads with sneak peak tho.

Even though we knew the gender of my baby due to NIPT, the technicians flip flopped genders all the time. I had a high risk pregnancy so I had a lot of scans done. The tech admitted that due to my chart saying unknown because Dad didn’t want to know and we didn’t want any chance it might slip out at an appointment, she just used whatever baby she saw before me for the gender. If she saw a girl before me then it was “she” the whole appointment, and vice versa. Even when little man made it completely obvious he was a boy :person_shrugging:

I mean the sneak peek test can absolutely be wrong especially if you did the at home version. Did you do the NIPT in office? I’d go off that gender. 13 weeks is still too early for them to even be able to see what the gender of the baby is. It’s likely just the wording the technician used.

I did sneak peak too and my result was boy. I did the NIPT testing next at 12 weeks and confirmed boy. You should do the NIPT testing if you want early confirmation! Then at 20 weeks at my anatomy scan he was again confirmed as a boy.

My daughter had the blood test done early on and was told she was having a boy. A couple of months later her ultra sound showed she was having a girl. She now has a beautiful 9 month old daughter.
