Questions regarding doctors appointments and kids

I’m just found out I’m pregnant with baby number two, I’m a stay at home mom. It’s likely that my husband won’t be able to come to every appointment with me and I have no one to watch my seven-month-old so ill have to bring her with me to my appointments, How does that work when it’s just you and your baby at the doctor’s will someone else hold her? On another note, I’m worried about the coronavirus we just got our first confirmed case in our county, and I have a lot of doctors appointments for me as well as my daughter who is just starting her helmet journey what do I do?? Should I choose not to helmet to avoid taking her out and wait to go to ultrasounds until this all blows over?

Your stroller will be your bestfriend

Depends on the office. I’m 7 months pregnant with my 2nd. My son is only 10 months old and my dr won’t let me bring him with me.

Use a stroller to keep her in there. They are not gonna help you with her. Also because of the virus they limit on who can come to visits. For most part its just patient allowed.

I brought a small stroller or bucket car seat when they were under 2!

Stroller or car seat or maybe a close friend or relative whom you know is safe and will take the necessary precautions with the virus currently can watch baby while you go.

i’m scared to even go to my appointments alone. and i have one tomorrow. so i feel for you

Stroller. By the time I had my 5th there was a couple times I had 4 kids in tow for an appt lol

You obviously need your prenatal care so if your OBGYN needs you in the office and you have to take your baby, out her in a stroller. As for your child’s visits, if the physician wants to continue now, then do it! Physicians are truly the experts on what is happening and what is deemed necessary, please listen to them and not people on FB!

I agree…a stroller will help tremendously. Ask if you can bring baby with you. Visits are limited. I just had my daughters 2 month wellness check and one parent only with the baby so hubby couldn’t come in nor our 4 year old.

Most offices are great with helping with your other child

Just had my baby Friday. I had to bring my 20 month old with me to every appt. it was tough but my dr office understood

My obgyn won’t let anyone but the patient in the office. So idk.

Unfortunately as of right now most dr offices aren’t allowing anyone under 18at appointments

I bought an umbrella stroller and that’s the best for doctors offices because they’re small and easy to fit into the smaller rooms.

I run an in home daycare (up until recently)! I just put them in the stroller if I have to take them! Umbrella strollers are best for dr office since there typically isn’t enough room for much!!!

I had 3 younger kids going with me to my appointments when i was pregnant with my last. My youngest was 6mo and i put her in her stroller and brought snacks. I have 9 kids all together.

Well If you have a stroller just put the baby in it and roll her in with you

I am 28 weeks and had to cancel all my apts due to my kids not being able to come.

Stroller. Also maybe see if you can do video chat appointments. As this virus spreads, many clinics are only allowing the patient to come in. Alone, no kids, no husbands. Experiencing this here in Houston :slightly_frowning_face:

Leave your baby in their car seat or stroller!

If it’s not super important, doctors offices are rescheduling appointments. Also, she isnt walking yet (assuming since 7 months) so you’re in luck lol, I had to do that with a 2 year old and it sucked sooo much. Just use a stroller, noone will be able to hold her

I would use a nice umbrella stroller or the baby carrier if the baby is still in it. Space can be limited in most offices. So the smaller the stroller the better.

You can take the baby, except for ultrasound appointments.

Order a rain shield for your stroller and bring toys with you.

Put her in a stroller no one needs to hold ur child

Take baby with you keep in buggy I have two kids and they have to come to every appointment with me x

If you have a good ob they don’t care and love to see the little ones. I made I had everything to keep the baby happy. sometimes I was lucky and they just slept through the whole thing

I would call them to see what their current policy is. Many are not allowing anyone but the patient. That includes bringing an additional parent/child. Some, that includes waiting rooms too.

I just learned the hard way to use a stroller! Lol

The nurses always took my oldest and watched her for me

A stroller will hold her

When I was pregnant with my second son I brought my oldest one with me to all of my appointments. He was there for every ultrasound right up to the delivery. He watched his baby brother very born with a double ear infection an a fever of 104° ended up power puking all over my delivery room an then fell asleep for the rest of the day

Stroller. and due to the virus my doctor’s office told me my children are fine to come, but I’m only allowed to have one adult with me.

I have two kids an 8 and 3 year old who go with me to every appointment some days are easy and some are a nightmare

Why would someone else hold your child? Leave her in her pushchair its not hard

  1. Do the helmet. There’s a time period where it works. The clinic will take the needed precautions.

  2. If you’re newly pregnant, you can do a telephone visit with your OBGYN. They will only have you come in when necessary. If you don’t have anyone to watch your child, bring them in a stroller (no one will hold your child for you) … and bring snacks and toys. Also, be sure make sure it’s allowed when you schedule.

I take my almost 7 month old daughter with me to all my doctors appintments except for my anatomy scan i have bring someone to watch her im 19 weeks pregnant

Being a stroller along and some baby snacks that’s what I always had to do. Or the car seat

I’m 10 weeks pregnant, and my first appointment I wasn’t allowed anyone, even my child, so I had to find care or not go. New policies because of the coronavirus.

My OBGYN currently doesn’t allow any children due to Covid. When they do allow children though, they require that someone is either there to hold the child, or they’re in a stroller. It’s best to call your own office and ask their policy, every office is different.

Your husband is going to have to stay home with that baby. They aren’t allowing anyone to come to the Drs office with the patient, not even children.

I took my kids during my entire pregnancy. Put the baby in a stroller and she’ll be fine. Also, I wouldn’t put off her helmet either.

If the ultrasounds are not medical necessity than I would skip them .I agree with the rain shield on the stroller be for the baby her appointment is important …as for taking her on any of yours .dont let others hold your baby .keep in stroller or you hold her …I once held my two year old durning a pap test …there is always a way

I have a 19 month old, I’m due in 3 weeks, I have taken him to every appointment in the stroller with a snack and his tablet. He sat right next to me on the bed for my last ultrasound & just hung out.
Nurses are always very kind & bring him books, etc.
As for the current situation with COVID19 call your clinic or hospital and explain your current situation, ask for their current rules, etc.

A baby that that small you could probably leave in the baby carrier car seat or bring a small stroller for her to sit in it you don’t have someone to come with you, sometimes a nurse will be able to take a baby during an appointment also.
I take both my kids to my doctor appointments. My son in his carrier and my daughter sits with him on the floor.

Get a stroller. Ull b fine

Car seat or stroller

They wont let me bring anyone into my ob apts but you can call and ask still

1st. I work in a dr. Office and dint worry about covid-19 at your appts. Patients that call in are not being seen there at the clinics they talk to a triage nurse and she will decide to have them stat home and rest or go be tested. They arent being the illness in the clinics. But to be careful they do have someone in every clinic screening everyone that walks in the door. 2. As for taking your children. Bring a stroller or a double stroller after the baby is born. Put toys, snacks, and drinks in a diaper bag to keep the oldest occupied! You got this!

Always keep a stroller in the car for things like this

I always take my husband and daughter with me but you might want to ask because of this virus my doctors only allow on person in and nobody under the age of 18

I would suggest stroller or car seat. My doctors office informed me that I am not allowed to bring any visitors with me but I could see children being an exception especially if you have no other choice. I would call and see what their policy is with the current situation

They likely wont let her in with you at this current time to your apt anyways. Our offices aren’t.

The appointments never take that long for me atleast, so I left my son in his carseat. Or I had a family member come with me

You probably won’t be able to bring them to your appts at the OB until the virus blows over

Get a stroller, it’ll be well worth the investment! I have three kids, ages 10, 5, and two. My hubby couldn’t make it to alot of my appointments during my pregnancy with my youngest. I would just pack snacks and put my toddler in her stroller. My oldest would sometimes read to her or play with her in the room during my appointment. It’ll be ok, most ob nurses, midwives, and obstetricians understand, it’s just the way it is once you have a child. I would also recommend keeping both yours and your daughters medical appointments. Most coronavirus cases are seen in emergency rooms or testing facilities. It’s unlikely that you would be exposed to it during any of the types of appointments you mentioned.

Put her in the stroller when the doctor comes in and give her a bottle and snacks other than that you can hold her before the doctor comes in and play with her like you would typically do

The nurses at my ob office loved holding my little while I did my appointments I know mine and my children’s doctor are using virtual visits unless it’s absolutely necessary to come in idk much abiut the helmet but maybe some of the visits can be done virtually

I always toook my 2 year old with my first pregnancy but she was able to sit quietly. Now she’s 4 and her brother is 2 and I schedule my appointment when daddy can come with and handle the kids

We aren’t allowed to bring children at all right now in Longview tx.

It depends on the rules where you live  here you are not aloud to bring a child with you to your appintements that is under 6 years old AND with the virus, no one is aloud to the appointement, no matter the reason :frowning: good luck

My son had an appointment for yesturday but mondsy they called and reschedule for may because of the Coronavirus. So they might call you to reschedule

I honesrly wouldn’t worry too much. Some places won’t allow children in due to that they can be a disturbance to the technicians. My husband works full time and he’s only come with me to ultrasounds. Midwife appointments and consultations he doesn’t need to be there for. Just tell your SO to be there for the important bits, try and arrange childcare if possible but it’s not going to be a big deal if he doesn’t come to most of them.

At mty OB office, they are only allowing mothers in at the moment. I watched them deny two mothers that had their babies with them.

Stroller works well… I used one woth my Dr appt. You do not have to hold your child 24/7.

Leave baby in stroller or carseat and use hand sanitizer after touching any surface. I wouldnt let anyone hold her or try to touch her or even get real close.

Most (like 99.99%) doctor offices and hospitals and clinics are not allowing children under 18 in unless they are a patient themselves. Time to look for a babysitter.

I’m at an OB apt right now and was told come totally alone

If you have a stroller you could buckle her in the stroller!

I’m 33 weeks pregnant with our second and as right now the hospital told me no children or spouse can come to my appointments with me, just me! When I deliver I’m not allowed visitors and my mom can’t even be in the room. Now they’re are saying they don’t even know yet if spouses can come into the room.

Before this virus outbreak (currently 30 weeks), I took both of mine to my appointments (2years old and 1 years old). I have a double stroller that fits them comfortably. I would bring them snacks and also put Disney plus on for them with my phone or iPad. Worked great.

Stroller, peppa pig on iphone, sorted - you won’t be the only one with a toddler in there don’t worry!

Stroller snacks or if you can get the baby to nap while at doctor it’s easy.

the nurse held my baby

It depends on your hospital, but I know that with mine (as I just found out that I am pregnant with #4), we scheduled my first appointment out until May. Also, anytime I had to go to the doctor and had to have one of my littles with me, if they were not content in the stroller with a snack and toy, then a nurse would come in and play with the baby for me.

I kept my 1 year old in a stroller with snacks. My ob was also who I had with him. He loved seeing my son and would talk to him the whole time telling him what he was doing, like listening to baby sisters heat beat. I also had a nurse who would come in just to play with my son if she didn’t have other pressing matters. I love my ob’s office

My kids are 17mos apart. I took my daughter to my appts. I brought her stroller, toys & wheeled her in the room. She got crabby at times. I held her during an ultrasound. It was interesting lol my Dr was wonderful & understanding.

It really isn’t very very important to go for appointments until some time… Let the Corona thing calm down before you venture out at all…

I always kept mine either in a stroller or detachable car seat… I tried to leave a little early so I had more time to drive around so my little one would fall asleep… th as t way she would usually sleep through the appointment

take a stroller carseat combo and take that to your appointments don’t put your baby in a while you’re having to get checked. Make sure the baby is fed and diaper changed that way the baby doesn’t cry during your doctor appointment.

Snack food, bring phone or tablet that has kids shows and kid games. Bring pram. For germs place a wrap around the pram and wipe down when you get home.
I have been doing this with my 2 year old every time I have a doctors appointment.

My doctor would hold my baby or one of the nurses would when I didn’t have anyone to go with me

Right now my dr isn’t allowing kids to come to apts. they ask if you can to come alone but if needed you can bring 1 support person so that could change your plans some.

You lost me at will someone else hold my kid? Yup. They hire people just for that.

Nobody under the age of 14 is allowed in the hospital where I go unless they’re going to an appointment for themselves and nobody but mom is allowed at OB appointments right now. But before all this went down, I just strapped my son into a stroller and handed him a toy for my OB appointments.

Right now my OBGYN isn’t allowing any children under 18 in the office and only 1 person. I’m in NJ
