Quick and inexepensive recipes

I need some quick easy inexpensive recipes please? I work full-time, and have 8 kids and we usually get home around 6-6:30 I’m tired of having them eat between 830-9 and then trying to get them to relax for the night and wake up by 5:30 in the morning

Crock pot is your friend. Also Goya black bean soup over quick rice, preferably basmati: those 90 second microwave bags, Minute Rice or make-ahead and freeze regular rice.

Pie crust shells + cut up chicken + bag of frozen mixed vegetables + can of condensed cream of (mushroom/celery/chicken) soup + any leftover veggies you have + instant mashed potatoes and Parmesan cheese. Mix veggies, chicken and soup, put in pie shells. Top with mashed potatoes and bake 30 minutes or so until heated through. Or use beef/hamburger and condensed tomato soup.

Indian food packets over instant rice.

I used to cook on weekends and freeze meal size portions to pull out during the week.

Chicken alfredo

Season tenders in your favorite seasonings
(I use paprika, cajun, cayenne, garlic powder)

Cook them with butter and oil in a pan. Remove when done.

Put sliced red pepper in the same pan and pour in heavy cream. Stir until bubbles then add parm cheese. Reduce heat and stir u til cheese is blended. Put chicken back in and cover for about 5 mins.

Put over pasta. I also like to add broccoli. You can top with bacon too.

This reads as a lot but it can be done in about 20 mins or less

Can you cook the night before and just reheat when you all get home? I don’t have any recipes. Sorry.

I have planned my meals for many, many years. Sit down on Sunday and check your refrigerator, freezer and pantry, then make a meal plan for each day and have a grocery list started.
Choose a meat, a potato or rice, veg, side and dessert.
For your large family, crockpot meals, sheet pan suppers, instapot, etc.
Soups and stews would work for your large family.
Sides examples: salad, applesauce, coleslaw, macaroni or potato salad, baked beans, cottage cheese, pasta salad. Desert examples: pudding, jello, cake, cookies, brownies.
Write down each day on a calendar so if there are jobs someone else can do or start something before you get home. Kids that are old enough can set the table, clear the table and load and unload dishwasher.
This way you know what you have e and are using up stuff on hand, plus you know what you are eating and how much or how little prep is Involved, and you can work around sports, band, cheerleading and church activities.
Some ideas: mestloaf,lasagna,sloppy joes, pizza,
Ham, roast beef or chicken, crispy chicken strips, chopped steak sandwiches, scalloped potatoes with ham or pork chops, walking tacos, Breakfast for supper, soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, kielbassi with cubed potatoes and green beans, hamburgers, hot dogs, baked fish, spaghetti, casseroles, etc.

Cook three different meats on Sunday, salad to go with it
Cook rice or potatoes. Stir fry vegetables are quick to do.

I agree with others in using a crock pot and pre-cooking my proteins on my easiest day so that meals don’t take as long, prep casseroles and refrigerate so you just come home and throw it in the oven but also wanted to add that you don’t always have to do things in a ‘traditional’ order, have the kids take their baths or do homework, etc while waiting for dinner to cook so they aren’t just sitting around waiting for dinner then rushing things after! Also, no one says dinner has to be complicated -sub sandwiches and pasta salad/green salad are also perfectly acceptable, dinner doesn’t have to be hot, doesn’t have to have lots of parts or multiple courses, etc-do what works for you!

You can do crockpot meals.

Get a large crackpot, you can fill it in the morning and have meals ready when you get home.
