Should I buy premie clothes?

Currently I am 21 weeks and 3 days, at 21 weeks 21 days I was in ER for bleeding for the 3rd time this pregnancy. They learned I have a short cervix (3 mm long) and was 1 cm dilated. They have added a Cervical cerclage, medication to stop contractions and antibiotics. The specialist for high risk pregnancies said with hope, this will extend my pregnancy 4-6 weeks. If there any Mamas who had this proceedure, how long did it help you and was baby in NICU? Should we look into starting to buy premie clothes/supplies? If so what is recommended?

If your baby is born early and in the nicu they likely will not be even allowed to wear clothing for a while. I wouldn’t buy anything until your baby arrives and that way you know exactly what you need.

I was 3 cm dilated at 20 weeks and 4 days. The doctor did a cerclage (shirodkar). I was on strict bed rest (bathroom as needed, shower every 3rd day, and appt 1 tx a week). I went full term. I set milestone dates to achieve and before I knew it, I was 40 weeks.

No need to buy anything yet. I had my son at 25 weeks. He was in the NICU for 4 months. It was well over a month before he could wear clothing. Just relax and worry about that sort of thing when the time comes.

Pelvic rest and do as little movements as humanly possible. Stay well hydrated. No stress.

Just wait on buying anything for now.

I would buy a few in case. But if u dont the NICU will more than likely have plenty to share. I wouldnt buy a ton of premie.

No cerclage with my preemie babe. She came at 22+5.

Next pregnancy after, cerclage was placed @14w & got it 37+4. Cerclage was taken out a few hrs after being in labor bed. Soon as it was out I had baby a few hrs later. I had a great experience with a cervical stitch.

If you go that early your gaurentted nicu time the hospital will have everything you need I wouldn’t but anything till after baby arrives they won’t even be dressing him at first

It really depends. I would buy a few things to start with. If babes is born in 4 weeks I would buy while babes is in the NICU. Not all NICU babes leave in newborn clothes.

We used preemie clothing even on my 8 pound kids at least for a few weeks.

I had it until I was 37 weeks and had to stay only for 2 weeks due to breathing issues

There’s a page for stuff like this. It’s hard to tell cause 4-6 weeks they are telling you, but it could be longer. I had a 34 weeker & a 35 weeker & neither had a nicu stay. My 34 weeker needed preemie clothes but not my 35 weeker. & if it’s a nicu stay, they will provide what baby needs until going home. I’d wait a bit to see how the pregnancy progresses before going all out. I’m on my third pre term labor & got a few things preemie just in case, but I got for free on the offer up sites. That way I can give away to someone in need if I don’t end up needing them.

Happened to my sister at 19 weeks…she had her son at 38 weeks

Ask on mom groups for bit of clothes just be on safe side

I’d buy a few just to have in case

Goodwill always had preemie clothes when I looked :slightly_smiling_face:

I have had à cervical cerclage , it is not a medication , they just stich your cervix closed so it Dosent open , I had one put on with 2 of my pregnancies , I was 17 weeks pregnant both times I got the cerclage done , had my baby second at 38 weeks and my 3rd and 35 weeks , it really does work mama hold your head up! They held up for over 20 weeks for me , just make sure to do whatever the doctor tells you , it unfortunately Dosent stop the contractions but your cervix won’t open

Waste. If in the NICU they cant wear it.

If baby is born 23-36 weeks they usually go straight to the NICU as they are not full term, underweight and still developing their lungs, with the sounds of what your going through its best to start buying some premie items if you can but the hospital will have some items (not all) that you will need

That early, they will be in the NICU. And they typically only allow a diaper while in their care.

Don’t stress about premie stuff what u need to do Is rest and keep that baby in as long as possible not being rude but rest

to lose your soul mate is one of the most hardest thing to give up on, but love on its own is not sufficient enough to build something deep and meaningful. A successful relationship needs both love and overall compatibility which entails of understanding, and trust, it was really painful to lose my relationship when my fiancé couldn’t trust me enough after a little misunderstanding but as it was I couldn’t love anyone else or love her less, i was opportuned to meet Dr lago via his YouTube ad of which I got in touch and he told me not to give up despite all the discomfort and discouragement and he assured me a positive result after his work, and he did came true like he said. So without doubt I’d recommend him to others on here with issues in their Relationship/Marriage, reached out for help with the info below👇 email: drlagospeciall@gmail.com or Whatsapp +2347060550594.
