Should I have a c-section?

Hello Moms, today I had a growth scan at 38 weeks 5 days it was showing baby is 8lb 14 oz and the MFM suggested I consider a c section as my previous baby who was 9lb 2oz had shoulder dystosia, he didn’t get injured thanks to God but they said that could happen again so I should consider it I don’t know what to do! It’s a bit scary to think about it give me some opinions advice please

first scans can be wrong when they are estimating weight…second a csection I would only do if absolutely necessary it’s a totally different recovery and is way harder to recover from

As a mom who has been through a c section trust me when I say this if you do choose to have one you, you do not want to be awake for it … if you are awake you may end up with ptsd like me good luck with your birth and I hope you and your baby are both happy and healthy afterwards

I had a c-section with my girl and she still had her shoulders get stuck :sob:. It’s really all depending on how you want the recovery to look like imo. Natural birth tends to have easier recovery and range of motion. The c-section will leave you hurting for a couple weeks and very uncomfortable to sit stand or lay down

So I’m a c-section momma  I’m scheduled for my 3rd c-section in 3 weeks.

My first c-section was after 27hrs of labour and was absolute hell. I was warned that I would probably need one because of baby size, but I hate needles so was against it . Baby 1 came out at 10lbs 13oz (40weeks, 4 days) Recovery was hell, but I was told it’s because I laboured so long before.
My second c-section was schedule, I was 39 weeks. I had absolutely no complications and recovery was 100x better. Baby was 10lbs.
My 3rd c-section is on the 27th of this month. I have requested it. This baby is showing large aswell (currently estimating 6.5/7lbs)I’m 35 weeks currently.

I can’t say on difference of natural delivery vs c-section but I can say that c-section delivery is definitely different. And recovery is generally longer. I had limited mobility for 3-6 weeks, then still had to take regular breaks. I definitely say coughing and sneezing hurts like hell

I’ve had 5 natural. Heamorrhaged on 1st but didn’t on others but then 7wk ago had c section it is harder recovery. I’m solo parent so had mqnage from when home day after and still feel drained. I was awake and it isn’t so bad with spinal it is just recovery.
I had no choice she was breach and low birth weight and I had gestational diabetes, I’d choose natural if could but she was 10 yrs after last kid and I’m 40

Yes!! I loved both of mine. 11yrs apart

As a mom of a stillborn baby girl. Always safe rather than sorry in my opinion.

I would deliver naturally if at all possible. I had an emergency c section because my baby had unreassuring heart rate activity with my youngest. Took me almost two months to recover, couldn’t even pick up my own baby the first few months because I was too weak. With my oldest I walked out of the hospital the day after delivering carrying my baby in his car seat. Obviously if there is an emergency medical reason allow the c section. I was awake. I was not traumatized by being awake however my son did come out blue and needed to be resuscitated. I also ended up needing to be resuscitated and then almost died of sepsis. He was in the nicu for over five weeks, and I was admitted in the hospital for almost two months.

They told Me my son was 8lbs + he was born 6lbs 10oz… the grow scans aren’t always correct.

Im a c-section momma to 3 of my kids and my last two i choose to have it done to me its easier to deal with all the way around

I have had 4 c-sections in a 5 year span. I was up and walking around within 48 hrs. Only taking 800 ibuprofen for pain when needed. The difference is something only you can decide based on your pain tolerance and how you personally handle things.
If I was having anymore, they would all be c-sections
