My daughter’s 9th birthday is coming up. She really wants fake nails. What are your thoughts? Would you allow your child to get them?

My 10 yr old niece uses the stick on one’s all the time. She loves them. They were great stocking staffers for Christmas too!

Not at 9 years old. My daughter’s dad (divorced) let her get them too young while she was visiting him and playing around, like kids do, she fell and ripped off not only the fake nails but her own nails as well. It was horrible. 9 is way too young!

Let her be a child. Thats for adults. she shouldnt be concerned about her looks at such an early age.

Me personally, I have told my girls nails & makeup once they enter HS. Bit you are your daughters mother, only you can make the decision that you feel is best

Have her do the dips or gel
Mine got hers done at nine. She’s 11 and she’s had them done 3-4 times. It’s a special occasion why not. Get them short. Make it a spa day.

Made my daughters wait till they were 13. They should be a little more mature. It’s not a one time thing. Fill ins every other week. Gets pricey
A year ago I wouldn’t of let my 9 year old… after the passing of her dad… I realized life’s to short and can be taken from us at any point… let her have fun… but be sure to talk to her about all the ouch moments they could cause…
I let my 2 oldest daughters do the press on ones with nail glue, i dont think they are ready for the actual acrylic kind yet.
They are 8 & 9.
My 9 year old got the press on ones for Christmas, and they were the “long” ones and she absolutely loved them.
I’ve been taking my daughter to the nail salon since she was 3 but just polish and gems If she wants she also gets the ones that stick on
Salons where I live won’t do a child that age. They will offer color only.

Get her press on nails ans nail glue. Wayyyy less damage. I’m sure you could even call some places and see if they would apply them so she still gets “the experience”

No…the nail place I goto told me, they don’t like to do anyone’s nails under 16.

Press Ons would be a great alternative to the other more permanent options than can damage nail beds! They make so many more options and designs then they used to!

Not good for her nails, they’ll probably be ruined. Maybe look into gel x nails which is like long lasting press ons. Maybe those won’t ruin the nails
My vote would be for press ons or a nice manicure with painted nails. 9 feels young for acrylic or gel nails…and they’ll damage her real nails.

Just take her to get a manicure and her nails painted. Too young for false nails
I personally wouldn’t but I would get her nails painted pretty.

mine does at 11 on occasion. at 10 she did glue on and stripes and nailpolish. but no gel or acrylic

Yes. My daughter will be 7 and I put them on her because it makes her happy. Let her enjoy the little things. Honestly it’s a lot better then the things kids are doing nowadays.
My girls love the press on/glue on, they don’t last long, but are fun for them, you can get a bunch for super cheap on Amazon!
Fake nails sure. Acrylics no.
Not! Very unsafe they ruin your nails and are prone to infection.

My 9 year old has had her nails done at the salon. They only did nail polish. Not all the extra stuff. She’s done press on nails. I’ve done her nails with the glue. She doesn’t keep them on very long at all. To each their own.
I would for sure take my daughter to the salon and let her do the whole manicure/pedicure thing at that age but I would probably hold off an any acrylic until she’s older. Press on nails could be a great alternative! It’s cheaper and doesn’t require regular maintenance.
They ruin your nails. I won’t let my daughter get them and she will be 14 this year
