Id start by reaching out to the sibling the children belong to. Do they know their seats are unsafe? Can they afford new ones? Can you help them with new ones? Or dad? Or check your local buy nothing groups and ask for seats in there?
Im not sure why your first reaction is to report rather than communicate but I hope you are able to get the family educated and maybe new seats too

Just go buy new ones, cheaper then a funeral. And you’ll feel good about yourself for helping keep them safe. You don’t even have to say anything just put drop them off.

Are you just looking to make someone mad? Why not ask your siblings about it rather than trying to get them in trouble? Or cause family drama? Either way leave the kids out of it. You’re trying to make it bigger than it is. Either ask their parents, help them find new ones or hush. There’s no need to report them and cause problems.
Why is everyone jumping OP’s a** for their first thought being to report their sister? Maybe their sister is a sh*t mom. You don’t know the whole situation.

Why not help get the kids into safe seats instead of trying to report them?

It’s 100% NOT safe!! Call the police, only if you’ve spoken to your sibling first and they refuse to get new seats. The police can help you both find local resources to get free seats if she is in financial need! Also, in my state there’s an organization called childrens hotline or something where you can call 24/7 if you’re in need of something & depending on the urgency is how fast they can bring it to you, but they have free things for families in need! They’d be able to give her free car seats! I’m in NYS, reach out if you’re in my state or if you want my help locating an organization close to you! They brought me a free brand new pack n play in my time of need

How about help them get new ones if they can’t afford it. Instead of just reporting them. Idk try seeing if they need help before you cause them to need more.

Why are you all jumping her ass about reporting her sister, The children are one and two years old they should be in really good car seats. The one year old should still be backward facing. If it’s only plastic and they’re broken they’re not helping the kids so yeah she shouldn’t just mind her own business. Those kids’ lives are at stake. Maybe her first thought is reporting them because her sister is an jerk and won’t listen to her. She’s not being a Karen by caring about those kids. For all you know maybe the sister will sell the new car seats for money. Give her constructive advice don’t be a dick.
Why don’t you buy your nieces new car seats and discard the old ones like a normal person would?

Unless there are other issues, just buy them new car seats…

How about trying to help them. Maybe they don’t have the money for 2 new car seats or they don’t realize there’s help. Talk to them

How about buying more if they can’t afford better instead of judging. And if there’s more to this story, then you should be concerned about more than unpadded car seats!

I mean…if you have the time to go and report them, why not just use that time and see if you can find new seats to replace them if you can’t buy new ones? Maybe fb marketplace, your county social services office or WIC office or something? Why not try and HELP your nieces be safe instead of reporting it and potentially getting your sister/brother in trouble or made to look careless or neglectful?

Ugh… why would you report this?!? Why don’t you see if they need help getting new ones or a agency to help them!

Who needs family like this? report first? wtf HELP THEM

Why report them? That’s drastic. There are programs to help her get new seats or if she can’t afford them maybe you could help. I’m confused at why that would be your first thought? Did you inform them of your safety concerns and they are ignoring it?

Mind your own business seems like a good idea to me. Many people don’t even use car seats.

How about help her get new ones?

With family like you who needs enemies!! You are the example of why this world is so cold and hurtful! Those are your nieces, before jumping to hurt family why not gift them new seats? You went through and examined the seats and have thought about reporting her and even went as far as typing up your evilness to a group on Fb, you probably need to reevaluate your priorities and get help for yourself about why that’s your first thoughts instead of just going out to buy new car seats for “your” nieces! I don’t understand your thought process or reasoning on hurting family before helping. Glad you aren’t part of my circle. Smdh

If you love these kids and want to stay in their lives, then try to find a way to help them without stirring up family drama and getting people in trouble.

When my oldest was younger, she would get her car seat so dirty, I washed it several times, so many times it actually fell apart. At the time I was a single mother, barely able to pay my bills, so she rode in it for a month or so til I could afford a new/used one. I felt like a horrible parent the whole time, but it was definitely safer than nothing, I would honestly just got buy her new ones if you can afford it, I would have literally cried if someone had done the same for me🥺 it’s easy to judge when you don’t have to walk in someone’s shoes. And honestly even if you called cps or something they would probably just get her new ones. I had a cps case once and the bought me new pack and plays because the one my daughter was using was sinking in the middle.

Buy them new car seats…duh!! Stop judging and just get new seats!! If you cant afford them, them ask around your community…if I was closer I’d just give you mine…perfect condition. This is fir the kids…not creating issues within the family…

You would report your sister and/or your dad? You are a winner. how about helping out your nieces and get them some new car seats, instead of trying to create an even bigger problem.

I’d at least talk to them first
Maybe they don’t have money for nicer seats… maybe buy some for them. I know you’re coming from a good place, but try to help them.

You can go to several places and they will give you free car seats. Extension office, some fire departments, police dept.

It’s 100% NOT SAFE or legal to use expire or damaged seats. Styrofoam broken is damaged. Altered seats are damaged.

Maybe suggest to her that the local state police departments will help you get new seats or maybe offer to help get new seats. If you’re not going to help then don’t say a word honestly.

You can go to the highway patrol office in your state and they will GIVE YOU NEW CAR SEATS if parents are not able to afford them.

Some insurance companies offer car seats at reasonable prices and walmart has some that are relatively inexpensive. Maybe offer to help, or offer some advice. Some people may not even realize carseats have an expiration date.
Maybe you should try and help them get them new car seats before reporting your own family…

Wow. This is your family and you want to report them instead of helping?!? Maybe instead of trying to cause them problems, you could help find a solution. Replace the car seats. Ask local charities, local Facebook groups, or a number of other places you can reach out to for help replacing the seats.

Maybe act as an adult and talk to the parents and find out why their children are in these seats. I’m sure (as a parent) they do not want to put their babies in these seats. Maybe money is an issue? Can you help them out? Can you find them a resource? They may be thinking something is better than nothing.
Before reporting I suggest find out the why behind the seats.

Maybe you need to regroup… The fact that the mom hasn’t provided the proper seats and you wasting time trying to figure out if you should report her… You are something else… Your Family needs to see this post to see how trifling you really are🙄

If they are otherwise good parents I would ask them why the seats are like that then maybe offer to help them get new ones, they may be struggling financially to buy them new ones. Carseats are expensive and having to buy 2 at the same time may cause them to not be able to pay a bill for that month or something. When your family falls into though times you should try and help not call family services on them as long as they are good parents, and you can be a good parent and not be able to afford something for your child because times are tough for a lot of people, especially people with multiple kids since daycare is anywhere from 500 to 1,000 a month per child in most places.
This is the problem with society. Instead of offering help or actually helping the family or the person in need, they just start accusing and judging them. Instead of trying to find the way to make her life more miserable, buy her new car seats.

Sounds to me like you like to make Trouble. The fact that you would even consider turning them In make me question your family morals. Like why would you intentionally
hurt your family?
Do what you can to help and not hurt. Maybe the kids parents can’t afford better ones and feel something is better than nothing.
Not everyone has money. Grrrrrr

Speak to your sibling first. If financially possible help them to get the kids new seats. If not financially possible then look into programs that offer cheap or free seats. If your sibling refuses to use new seats then they obviously don’t care about the kids safety and you can report them. I’m not sure how much good reporting your sibling will do since most cops and CPS don’t seem to care about carseat safety.
Not having any of the padding or covers isn’t illegal nor is having the label worn off and yes you would be ta if you called the cops or cps on them for something like that. If it is such an issue, surprise them with brand new car seats. But expect to drop a pretty penny on 2.

Not legal whatso ever… and if god forbid they were ever in an accident and one them were hurt or worse they could be charged with child endagerment up to murder for not having them in the proper seats.
Instead of reporting it and causing more problems for everyone, just get the kids new car seats as a gift. Help them out, don’t cause drama…

Some people are uneducated about it. Instead of reporting or coming at them for only being able to afford those car seats… help them grow. Educate (politely) why they are the best option and maybe present them with better quality car seats or help them figure out how to go about obtaining them. People are so quick to judge in matters they have understanding about. Maybe this will help you grow too. Be a decent human.

Try either finding or buying new ones for them and educating the parents on how important it is to have car seat safety. I wouldnt jump to reporting them. Altho you may be able to go to human resources and see if they can help. Also if you have an Anns New Life center around you, they give out baby items free.
