Should toddlers go to a movie theater?

Would you say it is appropriate to take toddlers to a movie theater? I just don’t see how this would end well…but my friend wants to take her small kids to a movie with us and I prefer they didn’t go so I am wanting to get others perspective on this/

Yes. They are humans, they deserve to experience things. We have taken our toddler twice, the 1st time was a little iffy but still ok. The second time she loved the movie and did very well. Are you seeing a kids movie? If so then I would bring my kids if I were her :woman_shrugging:t4:

I was sooo apprehensive about taking my wild child when he was only 2. We went to a kids movie and picked a seat that he could walk around in front of me comfortably. He watched the whole movie standing. And was super good.
Take the kid, they only learn if you show them.

It depends on the kids. My son went at 3 and he sat the whole movie quietly and enjoyed it. If it’s a movie they’re not interested it won’t be a good experience for you. Let her know if you guys can make it just a girls day or kindly decline.

There are often “baby” showings of Movies which are more appropriate to take under threes to. I’m not against toddlers in U movies as long as the parents take them out if they do get noisy or restless.

I take both my kids to the movie. As long as they can behave themselves. But it is kids movies, they are gonna laugh and stuff. Loudly.

My oldest first went to the cinema at 2 and a half and she done really well she loved the movie we watched she’s now 5 and we still go cinema a couple times a year
My middle child is 2 and a half but has sensory issues so he wouldn’t currently enjoy it
But if the parent thinks the child will enjoy it why not just try x

I have and would again, most people expect kids to be at a kids movie, and if you don’t, you probably shouldn’t go to a kids movie :joy::woman_shrugging:t3:

Pick one for the adults :woman_shrugging:t3: everyone pays for their ticket :woman_shrugging:t3:

I took mine when he was maybe 4 or so to Frozen 2. We waited for the crowds to die down and did an early morning Saturday showing and sat in a place easy to get out if he got bored which he did. But it wasn’t an awful experience and it seems that was also when a lot of other parents had the same idea

All my kids and grandkids loved going! They have movies for them! It’s about how well your kids are!

Took my oldest around 3, he sat through the whole movie without a peep. If it’s something the kiddo is interested it, it should hold their attention a lot longer than you think.

Depends on the movie. If it’s an animation and will keep their attention then all should be good.

If it’s a kids movie yes. They only learn by doing.

If its a kids movie its fine yes.

Kids have to learn about how to behave in public so it’s good to start them off young. Don’t take them to an adult movie and if you don’t want them there then you need to stay home.

At kid’s movies, yes. Of course. Everyone expects kids to be at a kid’s movie.
An adult movie at 9 pm? Nope.

Honestly you would be better not taking them
Even if it’s a kids movie. They won’t enjoy it. Maybe the first 30min. I raised 4 and have 4 grandkids. They all have been the same. Even the 6 year old gets restless. Go enjoy the movie with out them.

Sure if it is a kids movie but be prepared to leave and lose your money if it doesn’t work out because it isn’t fair to make a whole theater deal with your child after they paid to be there as well.

Depends on the movie if it’s a kids one that the kids would watch sure. If it’s not no, they’ll be board.

I have takeny grand sons since about 2:5 they did Great

Nope cause I knew my kids wouldn’t be quiet I got 4 and if I pay to see a movie and there a kid there bugging me I’d make them leave I’m not paying to hear kids (have enough of that at home) UNLESS it’s a kid/toddler movie.
