Should you go to the ER for hives?

My child has been having a productive cough for the past two weeks. This morning I noticed hives on her lower back. She has never had hives. Do I take her to the emergency room? She does not have a fever. She has an appointment tomorrow with urgent care for her cough. Thanks in advance!

My son had got hives when he had an ear infection I called health line and they went through some processes over the phone and sent photos to see if they required urgent attention. Unsure if you have healthline where you are or something similar but I recommend if you do. But they got me to push on the hives with a glass to see if they went away with the pressure if they do it’s not to concerning

It’s probably a viral rash

You have to think of what else you’re exposing your child to if you do go. Try benadryl first. If no labored breathing or high fever. Stay home… wait for his/her appointment.

Have them test for strep throat. It’s going around.

I’d give piriton then go to app tomoro. I’d say likely a viral rash. And the cough can last weeks like 6 to 8

Just wait for the appointment

You can have hives/ rash with rsv to my kid did

Could be a rash from the virus . It isn’t an emergency I would wait til appointment

Rashes can be common if a child is not feeling well. Unless she can’t breathe I would just wait until her appt tomorrow. Try a little benadryl

Have you giving benadryl for the hives? If that doesn’t help then go see a Dr (not er unless child’s breathing is labored etc) er will give benadryl and wait to see if it helps so you try it first

Some viral infections cause rash would see what Urgent Care says

When in doubt,be checked out
