Meds have been a blessing for me. The only side effect I have is weight gain, and being tired all the time but those are better than what I was feeling and going through. I hope that helps

I took sertraline for a year.
then I went off it and started taking St.johns wort,it is natural and works just as good as sertraline, I wish I would of known about this before!

I take citalopram. It gives me blond moments…lol but keeps me going

I take Zoloft. I haven’t had any side effects from it. It’s actually been helping a lot.

I’ve went through basically all of them and all they did was increase my depression and anxiety they also made me sick… gave me migraines and made me fat.

Zoloft, only thing with it is do not just stop taking it you’ll get sick. But otherwise no side effects

I’ve been on lexapro for 10 yrs now and I never had any side affects.

Your side effects may be different than another person taking the same meds. You will have to try one for a couple weeks and see how you react. Dr will usually start off with Zoloft or Prozac. Zoloft gave me digestion issues and Prozac only increased my anxiety/depression. I’m now on Lexapro with no side effects so far. It might take a few tries to find what’s right for you. I would suggest getting an “as needed” anxiety med like lorazepam too so you can get some relief now while you wait for the daily meds to kick in. The as needed anxiety meds work right away.
Good luck:heart::crossed_fingers:

Idk I went through them all nothing worked great for me…I’ve been off for years…

I just started Wellbutrin we are in the works of possibly adding Effexor into the mix as well and I also take hydroxyzine at night for anxiety.

Side effects are subjective. Everything causes something

I’ve taken celexa and Wellbutrin. It helped to a point but I ended up feeling so numb like I wasn’t sad but I couldn’t feel anything at all. Sex drive down to nothing. Wellbutrin was actually the better of the two I think I wasn’t so foggy and I could still laugh.

I take Effexor XR, 225mg for OCD, Panic attack disorder, Depression and anxiety.

It works well for me if I take it correctly. If I miss it I get brain zaps

I take mirtazapine and propranolol. No difference yet because I’ve not been back on them long but no side effects either. The worst for side effects was sertraline. I hated those.
I hope things get better for you🤍

Weight gain, loss of sex drive, worsening of symptoms, tiredness are all common symptoms. It may take a while to get the proper meds and dosages. It also doesn’t work immediately. It can take up to a month or more to build up in your system.

All medications have potential side effects. Some medications don’t work for certain individuals. Normally though if you have side effects, they go away after two weeks or so as your body gets used to the chemical change in your brain. You also may not notice a change in mood for up to four weeks. Just make sure if you are on any other meds or taking any kind of supplements/vitamins you share that with your doctor because some things will interact or inhibit the antidepressant from working. I feel like most doctors start off with Prozac and Zoloft to start. I could be wrong. Then will adjust dosage or add a secondary med from there.

Nurse here! I took celexa for awhile but hated feeling like a zombie. I hated not having emotions. I couldn’t cry at all. Also some other side effects I hated. I decided to take a natural route and come off my meds. Overall for most of them, say goodbye to having any emotion, good or bad, and say goodbye to orgasms. (Yes you heard me) very common side effect. Note- not everyone will react to the meds the same way as another person.

It’s my understanding that there are now genetic tests that can be done to see which psychiatric meds will work best for you. A lot of people with ADHD are doing this now.

I take Vraylar for bipolar depression but had to add prozac to it to get some relief. As a bonus a side effect of Prozac can be weight loss which is happening for me. As many know depression meds can cause weight gain and my side effect of losing weight is probably rare. Everyone has different chemistry so what works for you may be diffetent than any comments you read. Can often take a few med changes finding one that makes you feel stable. Like I said meds may cause some weight gain but its better than having suicidal thoughts if you have been. Prayers as you get through this!
