Was the ISS teacher in the wrong?

So my 13 year old son is in iss currently at school. The teacher that is over it seems to me is out of line. My son claims that he calls him up to his desk, says something like “you’re a liar” and makes him agree to it then dismisses him back to his seat. My son says it’s his job to “scare them” it kinda doesn’t sit right with me why would a teacher call a kid names and speak negative things over them? Even if he was a liar wouldn’t it be better to give him a positive talking to about how it’s good to be honest and truthful? Not sure if I should address this or not my son is scared if I say something he’s gonna say my son is lying on him and he will get in more trouble

Does the teacher do this to only him or others, , I would discuss it with the teacher .

ISS isn’t supposed to be a pleasant experience. It’s meant to be somewhere the kids don’t want to go. They end up in there by breaking school rules-- think detention, but during the school day. The first person OP should be upset with is her kid for getting placed in ISS to begin with. If the kid is indeed a Liar, then he just got called on it. How about addressing that behavior? That being said, instead of being accusatory, I would simply email the teacher and hear what their version of events is.

It sounds like you want your child babied & not told the truth. If he lied then yeah he’s a liar. If she knows for a fact & called him out then good for her. She hit him with a bit of reality. Of course he doesn’t like it. He’d rather his wrongs be hidden & not be told to him. He doesn’t like hearing the truth. Teach him to own up to his mistakes not blame others who are making him responsible.

On the other hand if he didn’t lie & she just called him that then yes have a meeting with this teacher & the principal/Dean.

I would say something for sure and if teacher gave more problems, go up higher. That’s inappropriate.

Hey Mama-
This is tough stuff. Are you comfortable sharing a bit more information-why is he in ISS? That would be helpful.
