What age did you take ur baby in a pool?

My baby is 3 months and I don't know if it safe for him.

All three of mine had been in the pool from a few months… all were capable of floating and rolling on to their backs by 6 or 7 months. Always with an adult in the pool and one on one… but in my view, the earlier the better for their safety and your peace of mind.

Just don’t. Wait till next year. They can’t be in the sun… too little for sunblock. They can’t regulate body temperature like us & the chlorine is not good for their skin.

My eldest 2 months. He loved it so much he fell asleep. Youngest 6 weeks. Both water babies still.

My daughter was about 4 months the first time I took her to the pool. I was very careful and kept her cool and in the shade. She’s almost 4 now and a total water baby.

Tested my 3 month old a couple weeks ago- feet first. Swish around then went to knees n bottom of diaper- as long as he’s happy and seems to enjoy it- just go slow! Cold water is a shocker! Especially to baby boys!

First time she was 3 weeks old

I took my babies to swim lessons at the Y.

Why wouldn’t it be safe? As long as you or someone is holding the baby, they’ll probably love it :two_hearts:

2 -3 months for all my kids the earlier the better

Infant swim classes teaches your baby how to flip over and float if they’re in the pool and even swim.

When your baby turns into a running toddler, theyll be safe.

I don’t know if it’s true but I’ve read that babies can swim at birth. I’d think salt water would be best and a heated pool.

My brother is a lifeguard, and he recommends 4 months.

My oldest was 10 months, my middle boy was 2 months, my youngest was 6 weeks - at the hot springs outside Bozeman, MT.

I took my oldest to swimming lessons at the Y when he was a few months old until he was almost 2.

My daughter was 3 months

My son was 2.5 before ever getting in a pool, my daughter was 3 months

Hold the baby and they’ll be fine :joy::joy:

Around 4-6 months, but only bc she was a winter baby lol.

Word of advice start when they are young. My son was born in the winter so couldn’t really teach him how to swim around that age. He has finally learned how to swim but sometimes water still scares him.

With the germs and chemicals as long as the the belly button is healed and no open sores
But when in doubt ask the pediatrician

I think any age. But not supposed to apply sunscreen until 6 months. So keep baby covered and in shade.

4 months and in our pool.

The baby is fine in the water

2 months in our pool. Public pool was just recently and he’s now a year and a half

My mom took me and my sister in the pool at 6 months. We totally enjoyed it and both have been fish ever since

My first was about 2-3

I had summer babies , so after a few weeks old.

Lifeguards in Canada say when a baby can hold their head/neck up.

He can be in water just hold him close and don’t let his head get super wet to avoid ear infections :slightly_smiling_face:

When I was cleared by my OB we were in the water!

I was 6 weeks and swim like a champ. It’s a natural instinct for young babies.

They recommend 6 months. They also do not recommend sunscreen until they are 6 months.

My daughter had swimming lessons at 6 months…at the y

Like six weeks old I think. Because I was also cleared so it had to be around then. Maybe 7 weeks

I did it at a few months as long as theirs sun screen n your holding them your solid. But we also had an almost fall baby. So I had to wait till we went out of town with a pool

My daughter went swimming in a lake at 6-8 weeks and started formal swim lessons at 3.5 months. Only waited so long for lessons because of covid closures.

My summer babies, like a few weeks old. In my own personal, salt water pool.

Mine were both summer babies, in FL. As soon as I could get in, they were in.

She could swim without a floatation device from 1.5 years old

Some people put their kids in the water as early as 6 weeks old. He will be just fine! :heavy_heart_exclamation:

My baby was about 6 months. I would say it’s fine!

He was around 3-4 months when we put him in the pool. He’s 6.5 months now. He loves water. We did a kiddy pool barely had water to start but he’s been in a huge in ground pool. I just have him in his float and stay with him. He’s learning to kick his feet under water.

My baby girl was like a month in a personal kid pool. And she is now almost 4 months on the 5th and august 28th she went in the lake for her very first time. She absolutely loved it

Just hold him so he doesn’t inhale any water. Also remember he’ll be a little slippery to hold.

Mine was four months, but idk as long as you are being safe just go whenever you feel ready…

My oldest was 5 months and my twins were 4 months when they first went into a pool

My son was born in winter so he was like 8 weeks old by the time he went in the pool but i would have done it earlier it wasn’t so cold

9 months old and that’s only cause he was born in October or else I would have done it a lot sooner and same with my second baby he was 8 months old and same reason he was born in November and the only pools we have here where I live is only open in summer time.

I took my daughter to a water park when she was 4 months old.

Lots of sun screen and a good floatie or life vest and baby will be fine! Maybe even love it!!

Would the chlorine in the pool be harmful to baby’s skin??? Other than that it should be fine for the pool.

My daughter was 1 month the first time & has been going in ever since , my son was 7 months but only because he was born in October .

Both kids were 3 months old

At 6 months we went to a mommy & me swim class

He was about a month old

My kids went as soon as the umbilical cord came off

My oldest was born in June and as soon as the umbilical stump fell off we had him in water. Just remember lots and lots of sunscreen, hat, maybe a short sleeve shirt to protect shoulders (and make him easier to hold on to because wet babies are slick :joy:)

You can get a water sling that’s like a ring sling, but for the water.

My daughter is 9months.
We brought her into our cottage lake and pool.

They have this floater for babies.
My son was in a similar one at 6months, we use to go swimming in our friends pool.

Just keep your hands and eyes on them.

The earlier the better actually. My son was in the pool around 2.5-3 months old.

The younger the better

Go for it, just be careful. Not only the water is a threat; the sun, other children, dehydration are all real pool time problems. Stay hands on with baby and you’ll be okay, baby might even love it. Don’t ever turn your back to baby even if it’s in a floating device, and give them frequent breaks in shade :slightly_smiling_face:

Any age is fine ,just always remember to put a hat on his/ her head, instead of putting sunscreen on the baby until 6 mos old you can bring the baby in the pool with a onsie on, also, slowly introduce the temp of the water😊

You can take them in when they are just a couple weeks old

Both my son and daughter were born in August and as soon as their cord fell off right in the pool we went

Both started swim classes at 2 months

it is bad for water in there ears

Earliest was 3/4 months

Babies cant regulate their body temp so don’t keep them in the water for long. Risk of infection is also a concern under 2 months
Best kept out of direct sunlight but there are babysafe suncreams you can buy . Also a hat and proper sunglasses…good luck keeping them on lol

call me old fashioned but in my opinion that is way too young to place a baby in a pool

I live at the beach and all of my kids had been in a pool/ocean by 3 months. I did hold them and just dip their toes in, I would be concerned about a newborns skin in chlorine, but all mine just loved experiencing the water.

Chlorinated pools, I waited until they were about 1 year and walking because I didn’t want them soaking in chlorine so young, but the beach and lakes and other natural water sources they were in from almost day one. All my kids are naturally drawn to the outdoors.

My 1st was about 2 years old and he is scared of big and deep pools. I’ve been trying to work with him on it hes been doing a little better. My 2nd he was about 5 or 6 months old(he had medical issues so we had to wait) he loves it

I put my daughter in the pool for the first time at 3 months old, it was an indoor pool so no need for sunscreen. She only lasted about 10 minutes. After the pool we washed off the chlorine. In my experience though I probably wouldn’t do it again until my baby is at least 6 months old. It’s really hard to keep their temperature regulated and they get cold super fast. Within 10 minutes she was shivering, and the minute she got water on her face it was over , she was pissed.

3 months old, it soothed him so nicely he fell asleep while I carried him in the water:heart_eyes::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Babies can’t regulate their body temperature so you need to make sure the water temp is warm enough for them!

My son was 8 weeks old. He slept the whole time. Our pool is heated He absolutely loves water now.

You can take them into water as early as a day old. I’d recommend waiting until at least 2 months though. Chlorine shouldn’t be an issue if they’re using appropriate amounts. Make sure nothing is ingested.
Just wash well and moisturize baby immediately after.
Babies can have sunscreen applied at 6 months.
Other means of sun protection for younger ones are needed (hats, long sleeve swimsuits, shade floats, ect.)
Because of their inability to regulate temperature at that age you just need to make sure they don’t get too cold. Ideal water temp is 88-89 younger than 6 months and then between 82-88.
They have infant floats that keep them entirely out of the water as well if you are looking for the experience of being together in water rather than submerging.

5 months he was born that November

We used a baby float with a shade. 30 mins at a time if not less
Long sleeves
Swim cloth diaper
And shorts
Water shoes
And a hat

It just depended on when it is warm enough to go in the pool my youngest son went at 6 weeks my older four were born in the spring or winter so they had to wait until 6 months or so

6 months for all of mine.

I bought an inexpensive nylon front carrier and brought her in at 3 months so her 2 yr old brother could play in the pool
