So I have a daughter that will be 2 in October, and 2 different teachers at her daycare have asked if she is autistic. What were the early signs in your toddler?
Picky eater or picky about textures of fabrics
Picky eater, speech delay or regression, spinning things or himself, quick to learn letters and numbers and organizing things into categories.
If you have concerns about this, I would definitely bring her to a development pediatrician. Good luck!
Do not let some teacher with no medical experience tell you your 2 year old might have autism or anything else. If you notice your baby is acting different ask Dr. Some teachers are just people off the street with no experience.
I wouldn’t try and diagnose ASD in anyone under five. Unless they’re smearing poop on the walls. Otherwise clues might include speaking at an advanced level (so mine was speaking in full sentences before two) or being non-verbal. A lack of eye contact or a dislike of certain textures in clothes or food would be clues to me. Not wanting to nap is another one. But seriously, you can speculate but not know definitively until aged five or more.
Unable to express emotion, unable to make eye contact, flappy arms, limited spatial awareness to name a handful but different people experience differently
