My daughter has been begging us to go on a vacation, so around April, we were thinking about going somewhere. I am nervous that we won’t get to do much because we have a son who will be ten months old. She wants to go to Disneyworld, which could be in our budget, but I feel like we won’t get to do much there because of our son. Has anyone been to Disney with a child that young? Was it a good or bad experience? Also, where are some places you have vacationed that was easy with a baby?
Expect long days.
It’s very crowded, and you essentially wait in lines most of the day.
So I live near Disney world and have been going since my son was 4 months old. Just bring enough! But we did take a cruise when my son was 8 months and it wasn’t too bad I wore him in a baby carrier most the time!
We live about an hour away from
Gatlinburg. We went there to a small cabin with my son when he was 2.5 months old for a long weekend. It was great! Not too far of a drive and very relaxing for all of us.
You’d be surprised how many rides a baby can ride at Disney! I mean I’ve not done disneyworld, we have Disneyland passes and started going all the time when my daughter was 12 months old. She was able to ride most rides except maybe a handful that required a height requirement. So much fun, love Disney!
I went with a 3 week old and wore her the entire time at disneyworld. All 4 parks and got to ride some rides too. If you can take your time, do it! Baby will probably fall asleep in the stroller or if you babywear.
Leave the baby with a sitter
It’s doable. We took our 1 year old to Disney and he was able to go on most rides with us. It’s just hot and busy so we got a bit miserable just plan ahead. Get fast passes as soon as you get your tickets so you’ll at least be able to do a few rides a day.
I personally wont take a kid that young to Disney, thats just my personal preference. But people do it all the time.
St. Pete’s Beach FL when my son was 10-11 months. It was hot so he was exhausted more then usual. We had to plan around his schedule more then we thought, but we had a blast!
Most rides at disney that the baby can not ride with you, have parent swaps. Different lines and each parent gets to ride. Or take someone along with you to care for the baby while at the parks.
Take a grandparernt wit u
I flew to Europe with my 1 year old. it’s do able, just won’t get to do as much as you’d like. expect high stress lol.
We took our 7 month old to Myrtle Beach. His first time swimming in the pool and LOVED IT. he also loved the beach (fell asleep for his morning nap to the sound of the waves every day) but didn’t like the actual ocean much. We had a great time for our first family vacation!
We took our 3 year old and twin 1 year olds to Disneyland and honestly I wished I would have waited to go or at least left my twins home and take them back when they are old enough to listen better and didnt want to wonder off all the time. It was hard. My 3 year old was good and had fun on the rides but the long waits for the twins were hard. We also had to go back to the hotel for them to nap and missed out on alot of time we could have spent in the park but that’s just my experience, yours could go alot smoother lol
I would do Disney waterpark
Leave the baby with some family.
A week after me and my husband got married we went to Gatlinburg with our then 9 month old. She loved the aquarium
My son was 8 months when we went! He slept in the stroller with my husband or in laws while my 2 year old and I went on rides.
Before you plan a trip like that reach out to Lissa Pennisi Ryan. She would be able to tell you more about how that would be an your limitations with a baby.
I go to Disneyland in CA by myself all the time with my baby who just turned 9 months old
It’s not bad
There’s actually a LOT they can do.
And there are children rooms in every park where there are child sized potties and changing areas, nursing areas and you can get any baby item you might need like diapers, wipes, formula and snacks.
The First Aid areas also have family restrooms (but most parks have several family restrooms around each park as well).
I would do something in home town maybe fishing swimming until older there is so much ro do
Not disney, not good idea, to little. Go to Hawaii.
I took my youngest to Virginia Beach w/ us when she was 9mo for my eldest daughters cheer nationals. Spent 5 days playing in the ocean w/ her
I have an 8 & 2 year old. I’m waiting until the youngest is at least 4-5 so that he will remember it too. That’s an experience i want everyone to remember bc I don’t know how many times I can afford to take them. We do to go water parks a LOT. Have since my boys were old enough to sit up. We LOVE great Wolfe lodge (they have several locations) & wilderness at the smokies (summer time they have 2 outdoor but the indoor is never closed). We travel a LOT bc I want them to remember the fun we had on trips together. Thanksgiving of 18, My boys & I went to Vegas for a week. It’s NOT kid friendly late at night but we spent the day on the strip until about 8 5 nights that we were there. It’s so much fun. My son wanted to zip line across the strip for his bday present so that’s what he got if you have LOTS of money, sure do Disney if you know you’ll be able to afford it when the baby is old enough to remember it. If not, do water parks or small amusement parks. You can make soooo many memories with the one that can remember now and even more when the baby is old enough!
We took our 4 yr old and 6 month old to Cancun. And I was 18 weeks pregnant. It was perfectly fine. We are planning Disney as well and I’ll be 32 weeks pregnant and our kids will be 5 and 9 months. You can make it work.
I am a travel agent and Disney is not as affordable as you might think. It’s actually extremely expensive. For a family of 4 I would budget no less than $6-8k. I also would recommend waiting until kids are 5-6 so you can enjoy more around the parks and so they remember it otherwise it’s really not worth the cost! Cruises are great tho and there’s so many kid friendly ones with so many activities and also day cares if there’s something you and hubby want to do alone. Cruises are super affordable and you can get extra perks if you catch the right time for promos!
I have denied going on a famm vacation until my kids can remember, and when i can actually involve them. We will b going on a famm vaca this year tho, 3 and 7 yo.
I would hold off on Disney until they both can enjoy it but definitely look into Kalahari
Gatlinburg and pigeon forge are great places plus I mean Disney is usually really crowded and there wouldn’t be much you could do with a baby while there anyways
I took my son to Disney World when he was 3 months old and we had a blast! Go for it!
We went to Disney (Florida), Ohio, Missouri, Washington D.C., and Kentucky with our son before he turned one. None of the trips were really bad, he did a lot better than we expected.
Totally went to Disney and had a blast! I booked the trip for my oldest bday and then got pregnant so . She was exactly 6 months.
Dollywood is a great idea
California Las Vegas Colorado
When I went skiing I brought a sitter with me…she got to ski on our down time…worked great…
I live right by Disney world. I have a 3yr old and an 11 month old. We love going to animal kingdom with the kids!! Lots of animals and rides they can go on. There is a safari ride, bird shows, pandora!! It’s really nice with small kids.
Im an annual passholder at Disneyland in California and i took my daughter quite often from around 6 months to now her being 2 and a half and theres plenty to do she can get on pretty much all the rides even at a young age you just have to carry your son and your daughter can do the disney jr dance party they also have that at disney world
Would not go with a child that young, someone will have to sit with him, it’s loud and busy, lots of sick people who WILL try to touch him and it’s wayyy too hot to push around a stroller all day. Try a cruise instead, the one I went on had a daycare.
Not much you can do with a baby. They won’t remember but we live in photographic world so wherever you go you’ll always have pictures.
9 month old to Disney World.
We go to the gulf coast (alabama) every summer. We have 9 kids. Our youngest was 3wks old the 1st time we went for a day visit.
We did Disney with a 2.5 year plus and a 4 month old! Was a blast, did a full week at wdw, but we’re “Disney people”
We just left gulf shores Alabama with my 5 year old and 7 month old. Tons to do and we had a blast!
We had a ball at Disney (7 months) he rode rides in a chest carrier with his daddy.
We’ve been taking our son to the beach since he was around 3 months old and plan to do so with our next baby due in May! We are all beach bums! Lol Our son was 14 months old when we took him to Disney the first time and he was still a little young to do much of anything so I’d wait on Disney!
Kalahari is great. Actually going with a 6 month old, 2 year old and 5 year old in a few weeks. Ive been to Disney World when my son was 5.5 months and 3. Both times I had a blast with him. 3 was obviously more fun, but it still was cute to have him in pictures ect. It is totally doable with him being little. I went with a friend who had a 2 year old daughter at that time, didn’t hold us back at all.
Took our oldest two to Disneyland when they were 2 1/2 and 6 months. Staying at a hotel attached to the park and coming back to the room for a nap or two worked great. Snacks in the diaper bag and drink mixes to add to a refillable water bottle big money saver. We also took all 3 camping several times when they where little
We went in September to disney world with our 4 year old and 6 month old. We had a great time. The baby could go on a lot of things. There were other things we just ride swapped and wasn’t a big deal. There’s pros and cons of course but I loved our vacation
Great Wolf Lodge! My family has gone twice since my second was born. Once when he was just 2.5 months old and the other when he was a little over a year. The water park being in the hotel makes it so easy to just take the little kiddo back for naps etc.
We went to outer banks when my son was 13 months. It wasn’t ideal. But he’s also an extremely strict napper who won’t sleep out and about.
Pshhhhh all my kids took their first vacation around 2 months old. Beach. Mountains. Camping. Whatever strokes our fancy at that time.
Our family loves the beach. Our children have been going from 3 months and 11 months. We go yearly.
Had a blast with my 10 month old and 8 yr old. They have this baby swap at almost every ride. My 8 yr old was so happy he got to ride all the rides twice! Worth it. It’s fine. As long as ur willing to do it, it’s fine.
We drove to California and back with a 5 month old and while there went to the dodgers game and Disneyland
My youngest was 16 months and she napped in the stroller. It was ok but she’s heavy so getting on and off the bus was a pain.
My daughters first vacation was to Virginia beach at 7 months old. It was great! We walked everywhere and she slept in her stroller when she needed to nap
We did a beach vacation in September out little one was just about to turn 8 months when we went
We took our son when he was 7 months old, and he was able to ride a decent amount at magic kingdom. We enjoyed it, but we also got in through a friend. so that doesn’t change things
Could you be my mom?
We are doing a Disney cruise! They have a nursery you can check the baby into and do a bit with your older and a kids club for your older one so you and your husband can have some time!!
Great wolf lodge is awesome we took our 8 month old and he loves it and my older 2 kid’s also had a blast lots of stuff to do also
We went camping for a week in a tent… And stayed at a hotel in Jacksonville FL and went to the zoo and beach …first trip he was 6 months old the zoo trip he was 4 months old
We went to Disney when our daughter was 5 mos old. At the time she was our only one. Doing it w a toddler may have been different. It all depends on the person I guess. We have been to places when my son was 10 mos and my daughter just 3 and we did just fine.
Well I wouldn’t do Disney in April. It will be packed with spring breakers. If anything go in February or wait until a little slower time. I think both kids would love it.
2 cruises with a 6 mos old and 2 yo. They get stimulated very quickly and our room was close to everything so nap time was easily accessible. They had Dr Seuss show and build a bear activity my 2 yo enjoyed. Midday naps were pleasant. We didn’t do much at each stop though. Lunch a little shopping and got back on the ship. Watched shows in the evening and 6 mos old slept through shows.
Gatlinburg, TN. You can get a room on the main strip and walk to everything. Mostly everything is stroller accessible. It’s my favorite place to go. Pigeon forge, which is down the road from Gatlinburg has stuff to do as well but it’s a bit more scattered out so there would be some driving unless you just feel like walking. Dollywood is also located in pigeon forge.
Disneyworld is fine at that age. Most rides for your daughter only have one other passenger, so one parent can go and one can stay with the baby and take pictures. I’d highly suggest day passes so you can leave, take required naps and return.
The beach is always a perfect vacation at any age.
We took our daughter to the Chattanooga Aquarium when she was 10 months old bc she loves fish. She enjoyed it just got a little grumpy around nap time.
Disney! She was turning 9 months
We were a military family and my mom flew to Japan with me at 6 months and my brother who was 2:woman_shrugging:t3: we went to Disney land in Tokyo. We traveled a lot all over the world at all stages of childhood. I was the hellion lol I got two of my own who are just like me
Disney land wasnt so bad
Some days my mom stayed at the hotel with my sister when she was a baby and the one day came with us. She enjoyed the hotel and the swimming pool and just gettjng relax after travelling
I would never take a stroller aged child to Disneyland, that would be a nightmare Why not just go to the zoo or a small water park?
Been to Disney with small children numerous times. Still a blast!
We took a 4 yo and a 11 mo old to Dollywood. It was a nightmare! Had a better time about 5 years later.
When my daughter was 6 months old we went to dc. Kept her in the stroller and were able to walk around and check out the museums, she slept in the stroller too allowing us to enjoy. Got a hotel room that was a suite set up so she could sleep in her pack n play in the living room while we had the bedroom/bathroom area so we didn’t have to go to bed as early and be quiet for fear of disturbing. We also went to Asheville when she was 15 months and pregnant with our second, same set up with hotel, was great as she was walking/running and could explore the ground while being confined for the indoor tour. Best of luck!
Went to Disneyland with a 7 year old, 3 year old and 11 month old and it was fine. Just make sure to pack snacks and keep them hydrated. A lot of the rides in Disneyland (not California adventure park) we was all able to go together so it was a plus.
Disney World is fantastic for accommodating families! There is a 6 year difference between our littles so clearly not everyone can ride the rides. But the “parent swap” that is offered is fantastic and allows the oldest the opportunity to ride every desired ride at least twice. Yet there is still enough for the little one to keep him entertained.
I flew on my own to Ireland when my youngest was 10 months old. It wasn’t horrible.
We took our daughter camping at a state park her first time being at 7.5 months old, we go camping every year she’s currently 5 and loves it so much she keeps begging to go right now ( we have to keep telling her we will but not till after Easter when it’s nicer outside lol)
We went to a Waterpark hotel for three days. It was so fun for the 9, 11, and 13 year olds! My husband rented a cabana by the little tots area for the baby and me to be out of the sun when she wasn’t playing. We went back and forth.
Can the baby maybe stay with grandma and grandpa? I don’t think that that it’s not “doable” I just don’t know how much fun you could have or how much you can do with a baby that little.
disney was good we took my son when he was 2 months old because we have three older children and he actually went on quiet a bit with us and for the ones he couldn’t they do rider swap!!
Rent a condo on the beach. Best trip ever with our 4 kids at the time. Or go camping! We camped with babies regularly.
Disney Cruise or Myrtle Beach would be my recommendations
Babies are pretty portable , easier than when they are toddlers. Just realize you won’t be able to do everything but enjoy anyway. I took my 9month old to Europe and he went everywhere in a back carrier !
We took our 3 grandchildren ages 7 2 1 to myrtle beach on spring break then in October we were in Fort Myers and Disney we had the time of our lives
We did Aruba when my son was 9 months. Very family friendly island!
I went to disney when my daughter was almost 2 it was fun but she could only ride a couple rides
What about Sesame Place in Langhorne Pa?
You can do disney.
For rides: rider swap
