Get your man snipped…
Sounds like you’ve been through enough! My husband saw how much I struggled on birth control so he manned up & got a vasectomy. The procedure was quick and he recovered way easier than I would have from a tubal.
My kids are now 45 & 43
For me it was the most liberating thing to happen
Implants weren’t invented yet but that excruciating IUD was horrible
Yes a little work was needed to work hormones and stuff but for me the best thing I did
Especially as high blood pressure was always an issue with taking the tablets
I’m 58, had my tubes tied after my second child, I was 21. Haven’t had any negative issues.
I had my tubes removed during my csection with my last. The periods suck but no pills no shots no condoms. So it’s wonderful and worth it.
Periods are more painful but you don’t have to worry about birth control or having babies!
I had mine done in may after my 5th c-section. All went well, 3 months post just had my first period. Wasn’t heavy at all. No other side effects apart from the odd cramp here n there.
I’d rather give birth every month with no epidural than have the menstrual cramps that came along with tying them…
My husband and I are opting for him getting a vasectomy. Birth control doesn’t agree with my body and hormones so we decided the best route for us was for me to not get my tubes tied or removed, and instead him get the less invasive surgery. I would bring it up to your husband as a possible option. I was suprised my husband was on board with it once I explained all the pros about getting it done rather than me getting my tubes tied or taken out. And how much better I will feel not having to be on birth control.
Tubal ligation syndrome is horrible and your doctor probably won’t tell you about it .
I had mine done the day after I gave birth. (Doctor recommended it due to my blood issues) worst periods ever now! I know when it’s coming 3 days before. I’m an absolutely miserable person and cannot stop the huge surge of hormones. He had a vasectomy done too. (2 members in my family years after their vasectomies, became pregnant again) it sucks but I’m dealing with it because I’m done having babies
I’m glad someone posted this! I was wondering about the pros and cons too. Ty
They don’t tie them anymore, they burn them off completely so far besides the bad periods, no cons. I had a c section and had the tubal ligation done as soon as they pulled my baby out. So you might just want to request to have a c section done. No birth control to worry about, no condoms, no worries lol
My periods are super irregular and heavier… Days before I start ill get pains everywhere and nauseated real bad. But hey I can’t get pregnant.
Periods way more painful and longer for me! And there is still a chance of pregnancy
First how old are you? Some drs won’t do if they think you are too. Young. Daughter had her tubes tied and had heavy periods. Ended up getting an ablation about yr later. No periods now. Doing great
No cons for me. Surgery was super easy and very little recovery other than just no heavy lifting. Periods are like clock work and have been lighter and shorter.
Take into account every woman is different…my experience, I got my tubes tied the day after my 5th baby. I tried different birth controls and obviously didn’t work for me lol after 4 boys and with my last baby I had complications, I decided she was my last baby I asked for a tubal ligation. I didn’t have any side effects and major plus I didn’t get pregnant lol
I found it to be extremely liberating. No more side effects from bc, and no worries about getting pregnant.
Get the ablation also.
Just a suggestion… make hubby get Snipped. My husband volunteered because he said … “ you carried two children, gave birth twice. “ He also knew the thought of getting my tubes tied scared me, every female on my father side, had complications and had to have a complete hysterectomy within a few months of getting tied. Plus, it’s a much less invasive procedure and healing time is shorter and easier for him. Let him do this. Just my opinion.
I had clamps put on mine. Best decision EVER
My periods since have been awful. 9 years later and it still hasn’t gotten better.
Love my tubal… best gift I ever gave myself. No side effects or worries…
I had mine tied after my second csection and best decision ever. I knew I was done having babies…
Period come a little early but they aren’t horrible so it’s all good! Nice knowing I don’t have to worry about pills or any other type of bc!
Had mine at 22. Best decision!
I flat out got a hysterectomy. And let me tell you. If you’re sure you’re done. Do it. It’s the most liberating thing in the world. I haven’t had a period in over 6 years.
My periods have been horrible and it’s been 5 years
Had mine tied with last child, 13 years ago he was born via c section so it was done at the same time, period pain was horrible afterwards, like i would literally be throwing up sick it was so painful but obgyn prescribed me max strength naproxen and i have zero period pain ever since, still have some irregularities like i bleed heavy for 2 days then almost nothing for 2 more but as long as i dont have the pain im fine with that
I suggest have hubby get a vasectomy or you get a hysterectomy. My periods are worse and it’s almost 18 years later. A man heals much faster from the procedure than a woman does.
For me, my period got heavier, never had cramps until I had my tubes tied
But on the. bright side I stess free from worrying about getting pregnant and stress free from worrying about birth control.
I’m about to go for my ten year check up to make sure everything is still tied tight
Also my Dr burnt mine as a extra measure. Because there is a slight chance they can become untied. Very slim chance, but it can happen
I’ve heard some woman who have horrible periods and cramps etc after but my experience has been pretty great honestly. My daughter was 2 when I got mine done so very active and besides not being able to pick her up for a week or so I only had to take a few days off work and was out trick or treating 3 days later lol. I have noticed some months I’ll have more cramps then I used to but it’s worth it to me to not have to be on any birth controls. My main complaint the first 2 days after surgery was the bloated feeling from the air they use to puff up your abdomen. Also and it’s weird but you get a pain up into your left shoulder and my Dr warned me about that and that was the most painful part for me but nothing unbearable. I barely used any pain medication after.
Personally, if youre done done, find a doctor who will remove your fallopian tubes all together. Theres more risks with ties or clamps (even the risk of pregnancy) then removal. My OB is removing mine in 2 weeks but Id already had one removed 12 years ago due to a cyst with zero issues.
Pro- you do not get pregnant
Con- my periods were messed up and i gained stomach weight (i used to never gain weight in my belly before)… but remember the Pro outweighs the Cons
I guess only cons for me is my period is pretty heavy the first 2 days and the healing process from the tubal (tubes removed). It hurt really bad for me for like 3 weeks. Also the sometimes wanting another baby but then I get back in my right mind and super glad I got my tubal
I got my tubes removed after having three girls couldn’t take that chance of having another girl lol but my husband wasnt to happy with me
Had my tubal ligation 10 days ago after having my baby8 weeks ago. So far i have had no issues, recovery was pretty easy, painful of course the first2-3 days but since then, no pain. Haven’t had any period yet so I’m. It sure on that part, but they said there would be no hormonal changes, so i guess i will find out within the next few months
My husband is getting a vasectomy in the next month. Easier and quicker! My body has been thru enough carrying and giving birth to 3 kids.
I got sterilised after my last pregnancy 13 years ago and the painful periods I experienced afterwards made me regret it thank God for the menopause
Will be one of the best decisions of your life 35 yrs since and not one day of regret
My husband had a vasectomy and it was only a couple days down, plus his insurance reimbursed us all but $12.00. Also being that you have trouble, weigh all your options because I ended up having to have a hysterectomy. My body was killing me slowly. I lost all my stored blood, had to get infusions, take shots regularly and every vitamin that was depleted I had to take. Talk to your OB find out what path your going down. Do what is good for your body.
I had mine removed almost a year ago and it was the best decision ever. My husband and I already knew we were done having kids after our third. We also know in the future we would like to foster children.
I had a tubaligatuion many years ago. It felt like a game changer. Three years later with heavier and more frequent periods I ended up having a full hysterectomy. What was worse, was that it could not be done vaginally because the clips on one side had actually fallen into my pelvic cavity. I was very lucky that I had not fallen pregnant.
You have the option of having a tubal ligation (reversible - another term for getting them tied) or tubal removal (permanent - they cut/burn them). It does decrease your risk of cancer. I had a permanent removal 5 months ago after my 3rd baby was delivered via c-section. I had horrible night sweats for the first couple of weeks. My period is way heavier then before with more cramps and lasts longer. I dont regret it, but I may look into a hysterectomy.
Unless you are already planning a section, it is way easier for hubby to get a vasectomy. Good luck with whatever you choose!
You’ve spent adult life taking contraceptives etc, it’s hubby’s turn he gets the snip no worries
I had mine clamped and no problems, though it is quicker and easier if he gets nicked. No hospital stay.
Had my done back in 93 had no problems best thing ever did have a hysterectomy in 2016 but that was due to fibroid tumors which run in the family
I had mine done after my son was born and it was a little rough at first but now I’m good.
Me & my Husband are #TeamSpayedAndNeutered…
Pros: no worries or slip-ups, Cons: I haven’t experienced any Cons, actually
I had mine removed during a c-section with my third baby. No regrets. Some women say their periods are heavier than before, but that is usually tied to no longer using hormonal birth control because there is no need with your tubes removed. Good luck!
I had my tubes tied at 26 after 3 children in 3 years. Never regretted it. I knew I didn’t want more children. I’d gotten pregnant with the last two while on the pill so I asked my doctor if I could get my tubes tied after I had my 3rd and she agreed. Then at 30 I had a radical hysterectomy. No more babies for me. I was very happy with my decision
Had mine tied just over 20 years ago. I can’t say if my periods have been worse or better as they have always been bad. One of the best decisions in my life but it really is a very personal decision. I have never regretted my decision though.
I have mine done when my last was born. I had her c-sectionals they tired and cut mine them that was 13 years ago. I had no problems.
I had mine done at the same time as my c-section. So no extra healing time. Period is heaver but cramps are the same. Mine were always bad so I can’t judge on it. I m glad to have it done, but also a little sad. Knowing I won’t have another down the line. But I know my body wouldn’t handle it.
Con of getting them tired and cauterized your pretty much screwed if you change your mind
