What are the symptoms of breast cancer?

I just turned 30 & found a lump on my breast this week. I have an appointment with my doctor next week, but since finding the lump &, of course, googling symptoms of breast cancer, I’ve noticed so many more signs that I feel I should have noticed sooner. I thought these things were normal being a busy mom, but after talking to friends about how I’ve been feeling, they assured me it’s not normal… I guess I’m wondering if anyone else has been through this at such a young age, & if so, what were your symptoms?

Help a mama out and respond anonymously on our forum. What are the symptoms of breast cancer?

Hoping to make you feel better… I found a lump at 30. I freaked out. My mom was in her early 30s with breast cancer (removed and she was fine). I had a mammogram done, and they told me it was…something else. Hard tissue basically. They said at different points in your cycle it’s normal for it to not feel the same, and checking regular throughout your cycle is key to knowing when something is wrong. So don’t freak out yet. You’re still young, and breast cancer this young is rare.

I had a similar scare last year when I turned 30 as well. My ob ordered an ultrasound, and it turned out to just be fibrocystic breast tissue. There were a few small lumps in different places, but they are just these little cysts about the size of grapes that can happen sometimes. Definitely get checked out, but I hope this makes you feel a little bit better that it may not necessarily mean cancer.

I have fibrocystic breasts constantly find lumps I have regular ultrasounds go see your gp definately to be safe x

I had a lump which was a benign fibroid.

I found a lump and it turned out to be fibrocystic change. Good luck.

I had a lump when I was like 23 I’m 27 now. They said it was not cancer, I had it removed and they said it could’ve been caused by being on birth control for so many years. I wouldn’t worry until you have it checked out. But do get it checked out!

It could be fatty tissue or hard tissue. It’s best to go to your doctor. But dimpling of the breast (it’ll look and feel like an orange peel), sometimes discharge from your nipple, inverted nipples, swollen lymph nodes but sadly sometimes there’s no symptoms besides a lump

I’ll be 30 this year and have had several lumps in my breasts, they were called fiberadenomas (non cancerous) they grew fast and were really painful so I had surgery to have them taken out. Always check with your doctor about breast lumps/rashes and get an ultrasound or mammogram.

I was 36 when I found a lump

Tired all the time but inability to actually sleep. In addition to a lump, pain at random times but not all the time. Breast would feel hot to the touch sometimes. Clear fluid leaking from the nipple. Those are a few symptoms I’ve been dealing with.

I am 35 and just had this scare last year. You can ask questions and Google but the only way to get a real answer is to see a doctor and get a mammogram and ultrasound of it. I got lucky and mine was just a cyst! Hopefully you get good news too.

Diagnosed at 35 with breast cancer. See your doctor

I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer two years ago. I was 38 when diagnosed. Some symptoms I had were a large lump, pain would come and go depending on my cycle, the pain was only in the affected breast, my nipple was inverted, because I was stage 3 I also felt a lump in my arm pit and had pain in my armpit.
Always check with a doctor as soon as you notice a change. It may be nothing but it’s always best to find out.

I found a lump and ended up having a biopsy. It turned out it was just an infection and with antibiotics it all cleared up.

Lumps when i was 17. I thought it was because i had learned how to drive a dirt bike that summer and my boobs were just sore from all the bouncing around. I seen an oncologist after being seen by a gyno and they turned out to be fibrocystic changes. Annoying af. My ex mother in law also gets cysts and has to have them drained. Best to get checked by a Dr.!

I wouldn’t be asking FB. See a dr!

3 lumps in my breast and it wasn’t cancer

Try to keep calm and not panic before seeing your Dr! I know that’s easier said than done lol, I’ve been there. But finding a lump yourself can be SO many other things that are nothing and the stress of you worrying about it before you know anything aren’t helping anything. I really hope it does turn out to be nothing and sending good vibes until you get to the Dr!

I didn’t have any symptoms at all and mine is stage 2. The only way mine was found I went for my yearly mammogram.

I’ve had several small lumps on my breasts. Antibiotics have always cleared them up and I’ve just had a clean mammogram.

Lumps are common when breast feeding, drinking too much caffine and stress. Stay away from the google, itll make you worry more. See your doctor and go from there.

Yes and it turned out to be a plugged milk gland… best wishes for you

I know people who’ve found lumps. Some had cancer, some did not. Wait to see what the Doctor says and don’t worry yourself to death googling things x

Lumps are not unheard of for women who are still menstruating. Do get it checked but don’t panic before you find out what it is. Some women’s breasts are more lumpy than others and you and your doctor will be able to determine what your normal is for your breasts once you get checked.

I had breast cancer. I was much older than you. Didn’t have mammogram for many years. When I finally did, they found a tiny bit extremely early stage. Lumpectomy and it was done. My sister had found a lump and it was nothing

I had a bunch of lumps. Everyone of them was NOT CANCER.

I had a lump at the age of 22, four months pregnant, it was scary because I had to give consent for a mastectomy before surgery , so thankful it was not cancerous

I had a lump and went through BC stage 2A in 2020. One of the things that helped them determine what it was was the location where the lump was had darkened and a biopsy. Don’t panic before knowing anything.

I’m 10 years older than you but back in September one of my nipples was leaking (I’m not pregnant nor have I ever been pregnant) so I had a mammogram & ultrasound done & they found that my milk duct was full of fluid due to hormones. No sign of cancer. Til this day it still leaks. They think it might b due to my iud. Sending prayers ur way

My sister was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer on her 30th birthday. I won’t give details because it’s not my story to share, but I will say if they find cancer in one breast, PLEASE make sure they scan the other breast for tumors as well.

I found a lump when I was 21/22. I had it removed after a few months of observation. It turned out to be a giant fibroid. It was benign but if I remember correctly it could turn malignant. I am at risk of breast cancer now, but I haven’t had any further lumps and I now have titanium floating in my breast.

I had mine examined at a similar age, turned out it was fibro cystitis, which is benign tumours in the breast.

Question: Is the “lump” hard and can you move it?

I had a lump and pain in chest, leaking milk and I don’t even have a uterus. Had blood work and mammogram and nothing was found. I quit caffeine, even coffee and it all went away.

I have lump too, but is not cancer they did the ultrasound , I have more cells that fat . Yes make a list of the questions and symptoms you have will help your doctor. Stay positive and is not always cancer. Have a friend with you and a family member go with you.

Could be abscess/cyst too. Go to your doctor girl don’t get more ideas from google or on here … you’ll drive yourself crazy

I know its hard, but don’t worry yet. I’ve had a few lumps and have a history of breast cancer on both sides of my family. So far they’ve been nothing. A really good sign, from what the doctors told me, is if it hurts and moves its normally non-cancerous.

I found a lump in one a few years ago. Doctor found it too. Sent me for an ultrasound and it was a clogged duct. Don’t worry, have your test done

Oh my
All this stuff I am reading is so scary!
I had a lump several years ago when my breasts were larger. The Drs checked it and I went in for further testing & was told that it was just fatty tissue in my breast.
Had a scare 10years later and again nothing. Breasts a lot smaller. But I swear the darn machine that we get the mammograms in will give us a problems if we don’t have one! Ugh, I swear they hurt so darn bad!!! My mom-although she died when I was 19, of an unrelated illness, had numerous breast issues-cysts. Never cancer. Very bizarre to me…just how does that happen?!

I had breast cancer and it took 15 lymph nodes and I have been cancer-free now for 5 years so they can get it early won’t be too much problem

Yes…it was just a cyst, non cancerous. Best wishes to you.

The last thing anyone should do is look their symptoms up on the internet. It’ll cause so much unnecessary fear and stress! Breast lumps can be several different, harmless things aside from cancer. And even if it is cancer, it may not be late stage and 100% treatable. I went through this when I had to get cervical biopsies and a LEEP. Waiting to know if the abnormal cells were cancerous was torture! In the end, I had no reason to even worry. I know it’s easier said than done to not worry when the big C word is involved but please try to relax, immerse yourself in distractions and STAY OFF THE INTERNET!
Good luck to you!!!

Had she recently recieved her covid shots?? That was a question I was asked and they told me that lumps in breast and armpits have been linked to the shot and will go away. Luckily, mine went away. Scariest months ever!!
I’m hoping this is the cases for your sister, sending love and positive thoughts !!

My friend is 35 and she was diagnosed 100% with a very aggressive kind of breast cancer just a couple months ago. I was standing with her when she got the call :disappointed: every single cancer center she has called to try to get help and treatment has told her that they absolutely will not do anything to help her until she turns 40! So depending on your state, they may not do anything until you are 40. She told them pretty much thats f’ed up and she will be dead by then.

I was diagnosed at 32 with breast cancer after I found a lump on my breast.

Praying it’s just a cyst and not cancer for you. I have stage 4 and it’s hell :disappointed: I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

I had no noticeable signs. My lump was so small, but found on mammogram.
Daughter found lump, but no signs either.
Mine was taken care of with just s Lumpectomy. Daughter started with that but ended up with a mastectomy

I’m a breast cancer survivor. I found a lump in the shower while checking myself with a soapy hand. No symptoms, no soreness, just a lump that wasn’t there before. Signs can be none to dimpling in your breast, inverted nipple, nipple drainage or crepe-like skin on your breast and of course swelling, tenderness or warmth. I had no symptoms, other than the small lump, and no family history. I am out 19 years now. :v::muscle::pray::grinning:

Don’t google anything google will literally tell everyone they are dying google said I had anus cancer and it was not true

I had a lump under my arm pit and turned out to be a fatty lump, not dangerous. My advice, don’t google and panic yourself until you’ve been to your Dr

You’re doing the right thing by going to see your doctor. In the meantime, I would caution you to try and refrain from going on the Internet. There is so much information out there (some credible and some not) and it can be quite overwhelming and only increase your anxiety. Try to relax (as much as possible). Given your age, your breasts no doubt have a lot of density, so be prepared if they call you in for a 2nd appointment to get more views (depending on the type of mammogram that they do initially).

I was called back to do the 2nd views and called again because the radiologist saw something that caused her concern. I have a lot of cysts and am scheduled for 6 month mammograms, as opposed to, annually. I also have an appointment for a biopsy in a couple of weeks so I know how unsettling it can be when you don’t know. Good job on the self-examination and being proactive.

Cancer runs in my family and both of my sisters have had situations where they thought they had breast cancer and it turned out to be just a mass of muscle/tissue there are other things that it could be so don’t panic just yet.

Don’t stress over it. Do you drink coffee…caffeine can cause those lumps. Did they tell you to obstain from drinking coffee prior to your exam, could also be fibroid cysts. Don’t panic.

Just think positive till your dr tells you differently, could be something as simple as calcium or caffeine build up😉

I was 38 and had NO symptoms!! The only reason it was caught was because of a horse accident and I had so many appts one day one of the doctors happened to say let’s get a baseline mammogram to compare to in the future. 3 days later my world flipped…at first the doctors all said lumps are usually not any concern…but after biopsy it was cancer! After surgery they think the tumor had been there for 7 to 8 years and they took out 32 lymph nodes…it had spread!!! But you will drive yourself crazy trying to get all the info!!! Just keep laughing and praying and face it with a positive attitude…KNOW if it’s cancer you’re going it kick its butt!!! Please believe me when I say to laugh and stay positive…when I felt I couldn’t go on I knew it would get better…and 19 YEARS later it has been! Prayers for you!!!

Please don’t goggle. Sometimes it can just be a cyst or I had a lump and it was from when I was breastfeeding. It can be many things. Us women have lumpy breast as is and hormones, caffeine, Chocolate, menses play a big role…don’t over stress and overthink…think positive  please wait for your doctor to feel and send you for more in depth diagnostics…

I have and it was just a small case of mastitis you can get it anytime you don’t have to be breastfeeding stay positive hun!

I’m 30 and when I was around 27 a lump was found and I was sent to an oncologist for a biopsy and it came back benign. Try not to stress too much over it and def don’t google anything until you speak to or see a professional.

I recently found one too . Try not to cause stress , most likely a cyst ( alot of woman get cysts . ) but definitely good to always check and good you are going to see a Doctor and a precaution

Id wait for the results before you freak out. I usually get lumpy spots

I’m 30, found a lump just before Christmas! Put it off for weeks because I was so worried, got myself an appointment with the gp who then referred me to breast clinic. Thankfully was a cyst!
Think positive, don’t over think it :two_hearts:

Please relax I’m not a doctor but I’m one who gets the fat build up cyst all over her body arm pits and on my chest next to my breast just recently yes I gotten all mine checked out but I know from experience that in about a week or so most times with myself that there’s a white yellow bubble that forms once that happens if you grab a clean warm like bath water warm you place it on it will help with the pain and release the pusher my last doctor appointment at the hospital reminded me of it just letting you know this just in case it does pop before your doctor’s appointment but either way still get checked out because your doctor’s would still want to see it . . . Best of luck . . . Don’t stress too much

I had a small lump at one point and it was a cyst. My best friend had a small lump at age 24 and it was stage 2 breast cancer. She’s doing well today, thank God, but everyone is different, so definitely good to get anything checked.

I found a lump in between my breast. I went to a surgeon and found out it was scar tissue. The bra can do crazy things, especially since i have big boobs. Try not to stress so much.

Please stop googling symptoms. You coukd have benign cysts, or just hormonal lumpy boobs. Someone I used to know had many mammograms over the years because is hard lumps here and there that were just fatty lumps. You’ve done the right thing to get booked in. I had bc 3 years ago and didn’t have any if they usual lumps, bumps, puckering or drooping, and was by chance I found I was spotting over the course of a week so went to get checked and they found I’d high grade dcis. Try and stay calm and wait to see what the drs say

My mom has had lumps in her breast for several years they aren’t cancerous

I had breast cancer in 2015 (in my 30’s) and I really didn’t have any symptoms before I got chemo and radiation other than having the lump. There was one time in 2017 that my boobs were hurting so bad that I was convinced that it came back. I had it looked at and it turns out they hurt so bad because I drank so much soda. Apparently caffeine will do it. For my whole life I’ve been an avid Pepsi drinker and after that I stopped drinking it everyday. I do drink Cherry Coke when I go to movies (it was a ritual I’ve always had growing up). Now I’m always paranoid about it coming back as it runs rapid through both sides of my family. I found a lump last year and it was nothing and in looking at that one another lump came up.

My advice, don’t worry about it unless it is a definite thing. 9 out of 10 times it’s nothing. Just make sure each time you find something concerning get it checked out. Don’t google it because you will just stress yourself seeing all the possibilities and bad stuff.

I have a lump in my breast I’m 32 and they scanned and did a biopsy of it, came back ok is just benign, I had alot of the symptoms too but to be safe I’d see a doctor and make sure they send you to have a check up, dont just take the word of a doctor that it’s fine have an ultrasound, should be refured under the 2 week rule after seeing your doctor, but I wouldnt worry to much about it as it could just be nothing

Google fibrocystic breasts. I have this. I just get random cysts. It’s scary for me because my mother died from breast cancer so I know your concern. Just try not to worry. Worry causes more issues, nausea etc. Get it checked just to be sure though.

I am currently 35. A few years ago I noticed a lump as well. Totally scared and stressed myself out!!! Come to find out it wasn’t cancer. It’s a common thing that woman can get. I cant remember what they called it but some get one in their lifetime and others can keep getting them throughout their lives. I chose to get it removed as they said it could cause pain if I didnt. My best advice to you is to stay positive and don’t stress about it. Best wishes to you

My sister had a scare and turns out it was just scar tissue from wearing bras with wires. Hopefully it’ll be a similar situation for you!

I found a lump and it sore/tender to the touch. A Cancerous tumor is typically not painful unless its very advanced. Please consult your Dr asap!

I had the same issues its nodules and clarifications …

I am turning 30 this year. My best friend is a couple years younger than me and just found out she has breast cancer. Invasive ductile carcinoma I think is what it is. Started with finding a large lump in her right breast accompanied by shriveled in the area. Had a mammogram and ultrasound. Ended in a biopsy for the diagnosis. She will be having a double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery in the next few weeks.

I was 42 when I found I had best cancer. The earlier detected, the better chances are of good remission.

Avoid Google!! :blue_heart: reaching out like this to others who have experienced is a great start, next I’d say consult a doctor and have an appointment to be safe! Sending lots of positive vibes your way :blue_heart: just try not to wait too long because if it was something cancerous (knock on wood it’s not) then it’s better to catch it early!

Hopefully these posts have helped you, around my period I have a cyst in my left breast that swells up sometimes … that use to freak me out come to find out it’s totally normal and okay! I changed my diet too and noticed more sugary / processed foods would make it worse during my periods.

Extreme fatigue. Not just tired like after a hard weeks work, but so fatigued that it actually is a struggle to put one foot in front of the other.

How old are u? There are triple assessment to do they decide it on ur age, but nothing to worry, but don’t ignore it pls

I had breast cancer at 22. It was the discharge from my breast that actually caught my attention. I never felt a lump cause I never really checked. Definitely push for tests. I was fobbed off by the first doctor I saw because of my age. .

My mom had felt a lump in between her breast, but closer in toward one when she was around like 28 or 29, got it checked, they didn’t know much other than it was benign, she got it removed and it ended up being something like a ball of caffeine/sugar built up (as she explained it). At that time she pretty much lived on coffee & pepsi, but it scared her enough to change her diet completely. She said she just felt a knot one day and it scared her because breast cancer runs in her family.

Hay I’m 39 I found a lump 2 years ago. Try not to worry. Mine turn out to be closter of cysts
