what are you getting for your 18 month old and 6 year old daughters for Christmas? I have no idea what to get my girls for Christmas! They have so much clothes , so much toys and I don’t even know what to begin to get them. They have a huge family and I know they are going to be getting a bunch of toys and clothes anyways but what do I get them ?
For the kids in my life I have started to do stuff to do like zoo passes or swim classes or bike riding days type thing
We are going to Disney in April so I got mine suitcases, and other things for trip.
A trip! Our kids have more than enough so my husband and I decided to surprise them with a trip to Disney😁
We do 4 things. Something you want, need, wear, read. Sometimes it is a couple of things in each category and maybe 1 big thing if they are asking. We have also done a couple of small things and then given cards for adventures. Trampoline patk, zoo, pick a restaurant, maybe like Disney on ice or a concert or something like that depending on age.
What about experiences? Tickets to something you can do together? Seasonal passes maybe. Do they have a play-set outside? That’d be a great joint gift.
My Teen Grandsons like Paintball and I FLY! Gift cards and Hoodies!
I feel this. My kids have so many toys. I’m getting them new comforter sets. I also got educational puzzles featuring the world and the US states, and a science kit.
I do things like a little weekend vacation. Do something you can make memories instead of buying them something.
Time, give them gift cards and tell them they will have special times with you and make it a date night for some of them one on one.
We buy them something they need, something to wear, something to read, something to watch and something to do. So my boys are getting lots of clothes, new water cups, slippers, my oldest is getting a rock tumbler my youngest is getting a soccer net. They both get a new book and winter gloves. I crochet so my boys get something with love. One year we couldn’t afford Christmas so I pulled together a few bucks and got them small things like a stuffie and stocking stuff like coloring books. What we learned is we buy the big gift and everything else they want their grandparents and aunt buy them because it takes the stress off us and we can get the books and stocking stuffers and a few smaller items.
How old ? In my house we make Christmas about games. So I usually get fun games, books, gift card, and clothes/matching pj’s.
Crazy thing is my kids always like the stocking stuffers (toothbrushes, gloves, gift cards)
How about experiences? Something special to do together.
Experience gifts. Mine are getting tickets to Lego land, the zoo, COSI, a weekend trip to Castaway Bay (an indoor water park).
Experience. Memory making experience. Even stuff to do together to create traditions for the holiday.
Experiences maybe like a zoo trip or something along those lines
My sons easy, he just likes money put on his Steam account to buy new games or add ons.
How about some arts and crafts?
Passes to zoo water park movies sky zone museums gift cards
Experiences! play places, season passes for a local amusement park etc

Lessons in something , activities for the whole family , a trip somewhere
Try something new !
Bikes for both of them and a helmet for the littlest. New bed set for the biggest. We always get a new family board game, and our elf brings gifts when he comes the first time (slippers this year). Probably a family season pass to the local ice rink and maybe one to the zoo but it’s a long trip. Boys are 11 and 4.5
I felt this !! I got them LED lights customed to their names, to hang above their vanity, so far. I thought that was pretty cool lol my kids don’t want any toys, they are to old , they asked for new Nike blazers and apple watches Wich I got but that’s about it so far.
Get them experiences to places they might like to go!!
Take them on a mini vacation you can drive too!
Family membership to zoo or children museums
A family pass for the zoo for the season
Great wolf lodge is fun at Christmas time! I’d say take a trip!
I’m doing nothing. Mine always have to wait till tax time. They kno the deal lol
Same! My kids are getting older…they have everything. I think one thing I’m getting them are custom Light signs for their rooms with their names!
I’m bringing my daughter on an overnight to New York. Experiences cause he also has too much stuff
We do 3 needs & 3 wants in our house. And pj’s for Christmas eve!
I have no idea I just wing it. If I see something they’d like I get it.
An experience gift make memories that will last a life time instead of buying toys that break in a week. A bike a scooter craft activity kits a special peice of jewelry
Family passes to water parks, theme parks etc.
Get them memories. A trip to Disney or something like that. They’re gonna get all they other stuff from other people so buy them memories to make with you.
Movie theater pass if your local one offers them or any kids type things that offer passes like that
Have a night of new Christmas pjs, baking, movies etc. I’m right there with you, I’m getting my boy one specific gift he really wants and hopefully just doing as much of Christmas events we can also going to our local Walmarts and stores to get from the angel trees and teaching him to give back to the less fortunate💙
Memberships to places like the zoo or a childrens museum. Movie tickets. Jump park tickets. Experienced make great presents
We do family vacations! My son wrote to Santa and asked to be put on the “big kid” list, which means instead of presents Santa brings a family vacation. Christmas morning he’ll get a certificate for a particular location and time frame, hidden in the tree. This also gives me time to request the time off and pay for/ plan the trip. Last year we got a cabin in a known area with lots of forest and hiking. We went in the summer. One year we went to a big indoor water park resort for a weekend. Look for deals on Groupon as well, they help. I still get my son a few things here and there but the family vacation is the main gift and he really looks forward to it.
My oldest is a horror movie junkie. So he’s getting all kinds of collectibles. He’s also getting Canada soccer stuff if I can find it.
Board Games, movies, movie tickets, slippers, treats, bed sets/ pillows
Bedroom makeover? New bed set and decorations to match the new theme
Take a family vacation/trip instead of gifts… even if its later in the next year…
My oldest loves bugs and insects so probably get her something to do with that. Puzzles, games, coloring kits, jewelry making kits
Give them an experience - an behind the scenes tour of a zoo, trip to Disney on Ice, a dance class, etc.
Bowling, skate passes, swim passes, water park, planetarium, laxer tag, cheer lessons, art
Class, cosmetology class
Gift cards to concerts or dept stores
Expiriences,movie passes,art classes,trip to a local zoo or museum,weekend away,etc.
I am getting mine candy a vacuum that actually vacuums and a lot of arts and crafts supplies to keep them busy.
Experience gift card type gig
Books. Experiences. Choose a shelter to sponsor- have your kiddos take a laundry basket and fill it with great clothes and toys they no longer need to love and can be given to others to love.
Unique gift such as puzzle shape shifting boxes, games. I also get them new set of sheets and comforter set .of course the go to gift cards …plan out an experience…buy gift to go with it…this year we are doing a cruise…so they will get to go on a shopping trip for a new outfit, swim wear or whatever they want to pack for it with a limit of course. LoL
I have teenagers. My son wants shoes and hockey stuff. And my daughter wants money. So that’s what they’ll get. They have a younger sister (4… and not mine) so I’ll probably get her some things too so I can wrap something.
I don’t know because I can’t even afford my rent or groceries right now. I feel like I’m failing so much as a momma.
A family trip. Get a backpack for each with snacks and clues.
Ive been collecting small toys on shein like fake jewelry, lights for their rooms, the glow in the dark stars for the ceilings. And then i have been hitting up the clearance racks and getting coloring supplies and summer stuff like kites, floaties for the pool, chalk. Clearance clothes. And then ill buy them each one nice gift if we are lucky.
We are going through our stuff and getting rid of toys and clothes to clear out their rooms. Then, I’m buying them new bedroom furniture and stuff to go with rust for Christmas
For our son mini bike & gear & our daughter an Oculus it’s all their asking for this year. Might do a few other small things.
Maybe if it’s in your budget just gift cards… To like fast food places and such.
How old are they? Tablets? Bike? Scooters? 4-wheelers (don’t forget helmets), game consoles, a puppy, tv’s for their rooms…
How about a savings account.
We get a big trash bag and he picks out toys and Spider-Man(elf) takes the old ones to Santa to fix to give to other kids!
We always go through our clothes and toys in December and donate what they don’t play with and what doesn’t fit.
Experiences…think movie tickets, gift cards to local arcades or trampoline parks theme park passes etc
My son is turning 14 and asked for a Nike hoodie, sweatpants, and shoes. And he asked to have his bed upgraded from a twin to a full.
I would get them things they can learn to do hobby type items. I know my girls want to sew like me so I’m going to do that for them. Maybe knitting supplies as I can teach my girls and youtube is great. They make all kinds of bracelets right now. Art kits and how to items. Maybe paint by number stuff from hobby lobby not the really cheap ones if they are older they have better ones . Also could do woodworking things or build and paint your own birdhouse ect ect the list goes on and on with hobby stuff. Plus it gets my kiddos away from TV ect. They play outside a lot but with a harsh winter on the way ( getting our first 2 inches of snow tonight) I know this will keep the kids doing things besides electronics during the cold months
Gift card to urban air, zoo membership. Diary, hair stuff, purse, art stuff, or sign them up for an activity the like like dance.
So many clothes and so many toys! They could collect all the ones they don’t need anymore and give them to the needy.
Oldest (17) is getting a mini fridge, some bins, make up, nail polish, curling iron, hair stuff, bath and body stuff, clothes and shoes, blanlets, lots of books, and a mini camera. Son (16) is getting some disney 100 collectibles, a keyboard (musical kind), ear buds, clothes and shoes, bath/body/hygeine stuff, random things I find lol. Youngest (11) is getting skates, hoverboard, squishmellows and stuffies, hair stuff, bath and body stuff, make up, crafts, puzzles, books, clothes and shoes. Bonus daughter (14) hair/make up, crafts, perfume, body spray, nail polish…normal “girl” stuff. Xmas eve its tradition they get gift certificates for mini golf and laser tag. And I’ll grab some random gift cards as well. It’s hard to shop for older kids. After awhile they even run out of ideas lol
My kids are older, 15 and 21, so usually gift cards. So they can buy what they want. Buying for them is so hard.
Wish you luck as we’re in a similar situation. Son is almost 13 and we just moved in with my elderly Mom. His space is limited so a lot of his toys had to be stored already, he’s kind of at that stage of one day he’s still a kid and wants toys the next he big boy items, and we are on a limited budget so the big boy toys (game systems, TV’s and such) aren’t financially feasible.
Some possibilities that we’ve done are,
events and/or activities such as zoo/museum memberships.
Family fun trips to locations of their preference.
Redo their bedrooms into a theme of their choice.
Items in a collection (my son collects Pokemon cards and Audubon nature books)
Or depending on age discuss getting one family gift and then using the rest of the money that would have been spent and each adopting an angel off the angel tree or a surrogate “grandparent” for Christmas and they shop of someone instead of receiving.
An experience to somewhere near you?
Get them an experience instead of stuff. Museum pass, movie tickets, bowling, zoo.
Start a collage fund for them put it in a piggy bank
You could do an event! Or trip to somewhere local. Teach em how to go through their toys and give away what they don’t use or need. Make a day of it, making space for new items.
Create traditions not surrounding material things that’ll be exciting.
How. About starting them a shavings account , and adding to it each holiday , and buy only a few small things to open
It depends on the age. I bought my granddaughter makeup it’s washable because she steals her mom’s.
How about an experience instead of things
Give them cash that way they can get what they want
Nothing this year. I can’t afford it anymore.
How old are they?
Get them experiences, instead of clothes and toys.
Get gift certificates to Build A Bear, an Arcade, the movies, the zoo or aquarium.
They still get stuff out of it (like their Build A Bear and whatever they win at the arcade etc) but they get to go out and have fun doing something, instead of something they will wear once or a toy that will get thrown in a toybox and forgotten about.
My youngest daughter is 10 and for Christmas this year, she said she wants a room remodel… something that makes her room look more like a grown up room than a little kids room.
We bought her a new bed, mattress, bedding, desk char, dresser, curtains, LED lights and some stuff for her walls.
Savings account. Whatever Christmas money the get. 10% goes in savings.
Money towards park day or vacation
This seems to be this issue for many people, why not tell family to scale back on the gifts and have each family just provide gifts for there own familys and have nice get together with family as much as you want to buy everyone something the costs are to high and some parents are not able to buy what they want for their children because other family members are buying them the same thing. Its a little different if you actually need the help to provide your children a christmas as so many people are in that position as well unfortunately.
If you have the money give them cash to me Presents are not Mandatory
A outfit + plus shoes, hoodie or a coat or jacket with gloves & toboggan , hygiene products, tooth brush, bubble bath, games, crafts, jewelry making, bed sets, bedroom decorations, scrapbook, those little cameras have them take pictures of different things each day until Christmas, and, baking cookies, Christmas Lights!
Depending on how old they are how about some shares in disney?
