What can cause a toddlers toenails to constantly break off? This has been happening for a few months… I made a doctors appointment but couldn’t get him in for another month so I am just curious what could cause this

Depends on what you mean by breaking off. It could be something as simple as an injury or lacking specific vitamins or even a fungus. Or could be something more worrisome. It’s hard to say without knowing the medical background, diet etc. It’s always better to wait and have the doctor take a look. If they appear infected or start to cause severe pain then I’d change that routine(sick) appt to an urgent care appt.

Most physician’s state that this is related to a cutaneous sign of systemic disease such as hand-foot-mouth disease. The nails will grow back in a couple of months.
