What can cause blue fingernails?

Hello! I posted a little bit ago about my finger nails turning blue and having an ER trips. Well they sent me home that night with no answers and I haven’t been able to get anyone to tell me why it’s happening. I’m 26 weeks pregnant now and last night my feet swelled up incredibly fast and they started turning blue. The color got better after a few minutes but the swelling is still there and they feel like they’re burning. I know I should probably go to the ER but I have a feeling they’re going to say that same as last time. Anyone have a similar experience?

Sounds like a circulation issue? What was your pulse ox?

I may be wrong but it sounds like you may have Poor circulation or poor oxygen levels

Could be preeclampsia. Call ob for sure

Touching ur blue waffle :laughing::laughing:

Swelling can be a sign of preeclampsia. I would call your local labour and delivery and go in to be checked. Don’t go to an er

Go straight to labor and delivery sounds like your blood pressure and swelling is cutting off certain oxygen to your fingers/fingernails or could be you have severe low iron or Blue fingernails are caused by a low level or lack of oxygen circulating in your red blood cells. This condition is known as cyanosis. It occurs when there isn’t enough oxygen in your blood, making the skin or membrane below the skin turn a purplish-blue color

Your fingers and toes turn blue when they are not getting oxygenated blood circulated to them. I’m sure they took your pulse ox at the ER and it must have been normal or they would have admitted you. So that means it is not an oxygen issue but a circulation issue which can be typical with pregnancy. It could be a position you or the baby are in, so put your feet up and lay on your left side. Call your Dr and make an appt to be seen so you can get a checkup and discuss how to take care of it. I don’t think it is a huge concern though.

Could be lack of oxygen in your red blood cells… you should get a second opinion.

Please call your OB! They have people on call for after hours. That doesn’t sound like something to play around with. Idk what your o2 saturation was but what’s not good for you, is not good for baby! Either way way you’re swelling and turning colors. Please call them! Hope you feel better! :blue_heart:

Reynaud’s syndrome??

Sounds like preeclampsia!
Did they do your blood pressure when you went in?
I wouldn’t even mess about and just go to your maternity ward and get them to check you out and make sure bubs is ok

Idk if it’s at all related, but for the last 4 months of my first pregnancy I had carpal tunnel. All my fingers were numb and worse at night. My Dr said it was normal and he got me a wrist brace.

Get to the ER & DEMAND to be tested for preeclampsia :cold_sweat:

Go see your midwife or whatever you guys call them that sounds like preeclampsia which is so dangerous for you and baby!!

Call your OB, Skip the ER and go straight to L&D.

Not sure how it works where you live but if possible call the labor and delivery dept at the hospital and Explain what is going on.
Where I live you can call L&D and speak to a nurse or doctor and explain what the issue is. I think they would tell you to come in.
Or go to another hospital or L&D

My daughter’s finger nails turn blue and they said it is Reynauds syndrome. They especially do this in the cold, snowy weather.

Sounds like your severely anemic…you can retain water and salt but you need to see your doctor ASAP because it sounds like it’s affecting your cardiac system and you’re not getting enough oxygen in your blood.

Get to another ER, an entirely different one.

Call labor and delivery or your dr. It sounds like the start of pre-eclampsia. Definitely need to be seen by a different dr.

Edema - caused by excess fluids trapped in the bodies tissues - go to the Dr immediately!!

My sister in law went blind and slipped into a coma shortly when she got it.

I agree with it sounding like preeclampsia! Call your midwife or doctor on call asap! Someone that works in that specific field will want you to come in and be tested! Sometimes er doesn’t do what’s needed. Where I live, my midwife had me come right in for a couple different things and told me not to check in the er because sometimes they shrug off things that someone working in the birthing pavilion wouldn’t.

See your OB now. It sounds like poor circulation at the very least. Your baby might not be getting proper oxygen. Don’t wait!

Skip the ER and walk STRAIGHT into labor and delivery ward!!! Tell them you are worried about pre-eclampsia and have them check you and baby. Sending love and luck your way!

I wouldn’t wait… call OB!!! If they tell you to go to the hospital DO NOT DRIVE YOURSELF! Either find someone to take you or call 911.

I would call your personal doctor caring for you during the pregnancy as they have your medical history and can help you more efficiently than the doctors at the er

Go to a different ER & get a different Dr ASAP. Don’t ask FB. Keep changing drs until someone gives you an answer.

You sound like you need some iron are you taking your vitamins

I had special prenatal vitamins for my sons pregnancy that had more iron for this reason

Definitely sounds like preeclampsia… mine was missed and only caught after they tested my urine to check my protein levels.

Don’t go to the regular ER. Go to labor and delivery where your OB is on staff and let them check you out. They can monitor you and your baby at the same time while they run tests to figure out what’s wrong.

Bypass the er, go to labor and delivery and tell them what is going on. At my hospital anyone over 20 weeks isn’t dealt with in the er.

l get paid over $187 per hour working from home. l never thought I’d be able to do it but my buddy makes over $18551 a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The possibility with this is endless.

Lack of oxygen/blood circulation, they can go blue if you are really cold etc but if that’s not the case it needs to be investigated as it’s a warning sign for surw

I thought blue nails meant lack of oxygen for baby :woman_shrugging:
Go to er now…

Go to a different hospital . Blue fingers means bad blood circulation , feet burning means also bad blood flow. I am not pregnant but my legs were swelling and feet burning, i was put on water pills and it all cleared up. Go to another ER. I saw my cardiologist .
