Anyone else struggle pooping? I’ve been this way for years. I drink 90oz of water a day. Eat plenty of fiber. Every time I see a doctor about it they tell me I’m clearly not eating enough fiber and to try mirilax. I’m sick of doctors not listening to me about my stomach issues and don’t know how to make them understand mirilax won’t work. Help please.
Acupuncture is very helpful in keeping you “regular”.
My old neighbor was not regular in that department. 4 doctors told her she was just constipated. She finally scheduled a colonoscopy to find out what was going on. Turns out she had Stage 4 colon cancer. She just passed away this past fall. She had no family history of colon cancer either. She was very young too. Mid to late 40s. If it’s really worrisome to you, please go get a colonoscopy even if there’s no family history of colon cancer.
Try “Aunt Sue’s Raw Unfiltered Wildflower Honey” in a hot drink…but I think any unfiltered natural honey may work. I use at least three tablespoons a day. Good luck
If you have a high protein diet that could cause constipation as well…have you seen a GI specialist?
Magnesium and Vitamin C daily. Its best if you take them in pure, powder form with water. You can start with lower doses and increase until bowel tolerance (which means you’re pooping regularly.) I take 8 grams of vitamin C daily to stay regular. Extra benefit – its great for your immune system too!
I have the same issues. They tell me to drink more water but all I drink is water. Froated Mini Wheats helps me sometimes but not all the time.
You need to go see a GI doctor if your PCP isn’t listening.
Until you can do that, I think too much fiber can actually cause you to be backed up. So are you consuming the proper amount or possibly too much?
I’d also try prunes and/or prune juice if you can stomach it.
Believe it or not my daughters GI said she ate to much fiber. And Caused a megacolon. Cut down the fiber and see what happens. I recommend you getting a second opinion.
Magnesium. Vitamins or epsom salt baths
This is going to sound ridiculous but eat a bunch of brussel sprouts. Works like a charm. Also Magnesium but make sure its magnesium citrate. It has a laxative effect. I feel your pain.
Smooth move tea you’ll find it at almost every grocery store in the tea and coffee section I was a caregiver for the elderly as we age it becomes more difficult…always worked everytime.i drink it to when nessasary and is a pleasant cup of tea.
I understand your concerns. I was told to take dulcolax every evening. We also have a squatty potty, it may sound stupid but it helps tremendously. There is also a special therapy geared towards helping you to go. My gastro just prescribed linzess to see if it works. Don’t give up, keep going until you get answers!!!
I get backed up also. I have ibs c & d. I have tried laxatives that would give me horrible belly pains. Now I drink a capful of miralax in ape juice and take a chocolate miralax. I wait for the night of the 3rd day. I also don’t eat hardly at all, don’t drink a lot of water. But even when I did eat quite a bit still had onor the other. I feel for you. Hopefully someone gave advice that will help you on this. Being constipated hurts and is miserable.
Do you eat dairy ? Avoid it and drink green tea . Give it some time and it’ll make you feel better
Drink some apple juice it helps me
Ask your doctor for a referral for a pelvic floor nurse and get physical therapy with a pelvic floor nurse.
Eat actual fruits and vegetables. Apples oranges bananas greens cabbage green beans. It’s your diet and it’s more than drinking water it’s eating fruit and vegetables
Eat fruit daily. Apples. Pears. And berries. Grapes or Raisins. Spinach and salad. If you take too many laxatives your body will get used to them and you will be dependent on them. So stick with natural stuff. You definitely need a gastroenterologist. Insist on a referral. You may have IBS. IBS is either constipation or diarrhea or both.
I take stool softners daily any kind of medication will cause constipation
Ask your dr.for a referral to a gastrointeroligist
Try eliminating different foods especially dairy and gluten. I try to stay on like a Whole Foods diet and keep dairy and a lot of the processed and gluten products out and it’s done me wonders
Demand that your doctor makes a referral for a Gastroenterologist.
Have you been assessed for IBS-C?
Try stopping drinking milk and little to no dairy.
Try restoralax. Every day for about a week before you feel it softening. And then, if necessary, once you’ve had a couple Normal BMs, take once or twice a week. Exlax etc is too much of a punch to your system. It needs to be gradual
Give up yeast and eat more fruit. Whenever I have yeast now I really struggle.
Maybe research rx’s and recommend one to your primary. I got tired of the same run around and now I do research and suggest what I think will work and the doc is always more open to it.
Tbsp daily blackstrap molasses try to look up info maybe this can help
