What can I do for a congested newborn?

How do you deal with newborn baby’s congestion??? She couldn’t even drink her milk because she’s so congested. I’ve been using saline nose drops on her and tried nose suction but her nose is so tiny.

Nose Frida…they work and a Mother will be able to do it to give their newborn some relief

Run cool mist vaporizer in the room she’s in, especially when sleeping. It will help. You may have to suction her nose to clear it out enough at first, but the vaporizer will do wonders

What does the pediatrician say?

Steminar nasal spray, humidifier in room, baby vix on babes chest, you could put a little in hot water away from babe but so it fills the air, bath in vapour baby bath. My lad was constantly congested up until 12mo, if he was congested, he vomited. It was constant. Steminar was a saver. x

Snot sucker, humidifier and vicks.

Run a hot steamy shower with a dollop of Vicks in the bottom and sit in the bathroom with the door closed

Definitely put Vicks vapor rub on her chest and put an inside on over it then put it on her feet and put socks on. Then put some right underneath her nose.

Run a hot shower without the fan on and hold her upright in the steamy shower room

If she’s that congested and that young, it’s time for the doctor. DO NOT put Vicks, or even baby Vicks, on a newborn! Regular Vicks is for 2 years and up. Baby Vicks is for 3 months and up.

My youngest son dealt with his he’s a sickly dude and at 6 weeks he got covid and had to be hospitalized and was horribly congested but a hot shower and sit in bathroom for steam and a nose fridda and a humidifier at night and for sleep best to baby at a upright angle so bouncer or a swing so it helps all that drain

Suction her nose and humidifier

Drop this in the bottom of a very hot shower, sit in the bathroom with the baby until the water stops steaming.

Dr. for sure with a newborn, wouldn’t want to be introducing a bunch of stuff to those brand new lungs.

Put your thumb between her eyebrows apply light pressure
Count 3 “onethousand” let go… they should be able to breathe freely for a few minutes to feed.

Def make a sick appointment

My wee boy was constantly congested the first few months, after visits to the GP who told me this was normal in some newborns, I used saline spray ( from birth) , massaged his chest and tried positioning him off his back when supervised of course. Being congested and lying on your back all the time doesn’t help matters. We also ran the shower and let the steam do its thing in the bathroom. You have to just be very careful what you use on newborns. Everyone recommended nose Freda to me but he had nothing to come out it was all mucus stuck in back of his throat that eventually broke down. It’s awful and you feel defeated but it gets better

2 of mine were sick with cold and flues at 2 weeks old we did hot showers (they liked the water quite warm) and laid them across our forearm so congestion wasn’t going to the throat but out the nose, vicks the feet and cover, Vicks the shirt and vaporiser on ,early mornings were the worst times so I had a vicks stick that I’d open and put by our heads to breathe in

Vaporizer if you have one. If not, run the shower really hot, don’t turn on the fan and take baby in there and hold them. The steam from the shower will help with the congestion.

Steam up the bathroom and sit with her awhile

Me personally since baby is a new born I’d go to the doctor. Like make a appointment asap. If can’t get one like today or n morning I’d try going to a walk in. But see if they can call u when it’s time to go back? Cause so many covid n everything else going around. Rsv is what scared me the most

Use a syringe with distilled water and flush one side of her nose and then do the other side this won’t hurt the baby
