What can I do for my son and his constipation?

My son is about 18 weeks… 4 and a half months. His poops have been pretty normal, every morning. But now the last few days it isn’t the case. Today he went but it was much firmer and wasn’t much. What can we possibly give to help him at such a young age? He was a well check next week.

Get in to a worm bath with him and lay him on you’re chest

Will have to clear anything by the pediatrician but doing bicycle leg exercises with your baby (can find easy instructions online) are supposed to help but don’t give anything until you call the dr

I’m not trying to be a jerk just educate cause I didn’t know either……look up the definition of constipation in newborns :baby:….u will be surprised. Then after call the doctor when needed. Do not give ur newborn juice or Karo with out talking to a doc they can be very painful for tiny babies!!!

Add half a teaspoon of sugar to his bottle

Do NOT give anything to your baby without running it by the pediatrician first. People give such shit advice here sometimes.

My son was prescribed lactoluse at that age it’s really good

If formula fed then it’s likely the iron fortified formula is causing the issue and your pediatrician will have ideas on how to help. If breast fed then you’ll want to try elimination in your diet to see what helps or doesn’t.

Constipation is usually caused by not enough water. Babies need at least 2.5oz formula per pound of body weight for proper nutrition. If you are reaching the minimum daily goal then you can add a little extra water to one bottle a day after you reach the goal. It’s important to get the full proper nutrition first before adding a bottle with extra water.

call your ped. theres not much they do for this, babies can go multiple days without stooling and it be normal. you also cannot give a baby water before 6 months!!

Boiled cooled water with a bit of sugar in

Call his Doctor. He or she will completely understand. Trust me call his office.

If you’re breast feeding then you don’t get much poop. If it’s formula then you need to talk to a Doctor who can give you current advice. Under no circumstances do ANY of the things other than see a medical professional. Sugar water, juice etc should be no where near a child under six months without guidance.

There’s glycerine chips you can get at CVS

Your baby is very young and you need advice from a pediatrician not facebook. If he was little older I would recommend fruit juice. But since he is this young call his Doctor. Do not use suppositories or other laxatives.

Call the pediatrician. We used a very little of mommy’s bliss constipation ease

Prune or pear :pear: juice usually does the trick, try to stay the all natural course if possible. Alternatives can be harder on their little bellies

Your Son is now deliverd in Jesus mighty name Amene. Be sure to thank Jesus for his deleverance and miracle healing Amene

Don’t put anything in his milk please. That is ridiculously unsafe and outdated advice. No juices, no Kari syrup. They sell suppositories for babies, consult absolutely with the pediatrician first tho. I also read that a qtip with Vaseline does the trick too, but I’d rather play it safe with the suppositories.

Add some dark Karo syrup, better than white,I used it many times when my babies were on the bottle

My son struggled with constipation when he was a baby, he was prescribed the strongest dose of lactoluse but that still didn’t help him, he would go up to 6 days with no poo, he got really poorly and ended up going on calcough for a cough he had, the calcough seemed to not help with the cough but also helped with his constipation, it was discussed with the GP and he came off the prescribed medication and started having calcough when he was constipated and it helped

Sooo my son had surgery in his stomach so when it happened I was terrified that we would end up back in surgery due to bowel blockage we started small amounts of puree and oatmeal warm baths with tummy massage prune was to forceful ot made his stomach hurt all this advice came from his pediatrician it worked he’s almost 10mths now and we haven’t looked back it takes trial and error good luck mama

When my cousin was little she suffered constipation nothing helped her , the only way y was able to poop was if mom stimulated her .

There’s a lot of things you could try but taking with a pediatrician should be the way to go
