Hello moms. I am 22 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with sciatica. Its so bad that my lower back sticks out 1 inch from the swelling. My right leg swells so bad that i cant wear tennis shoes. The pain is unbearable at times. I have attented physical therapy. I take Tylenol, the max daily dose. Warm baths with epsom salt, elevation, ice, heat, topical ointments…you name it I’ve tried it. I can no longer drive more than 30 minutes. The pain goes from my lower back ALL THE WAY to my toes. I have seen my obgyn and primary care docs. They both have told me and i quote “there is nothing else we can do for you.” I dont know what to do. I have two other children and im a SAHM. Im at the end of my rope. Suggestions please. Any old wifes tales?? Special remedies?? Anything? I feel like giving up.
Tennis ball and use it to roll at the top of the pain to attempt to relieve the pressure down your leg.
I use ice gel too. I struggled insane with my first baby. Now I’m struggling again with number 6
Its so frustrating and painful
I am going to follow this for other ideas to try
Have you seen a chiropractor before?
Try CBD ointment, yoga and soaking in Epsom salt bath
Tens machine think u can get special pregnancy ones x
See an DO provider who specializes in OMT.
I had therapy that worked for 3.
Massage works wonders. I was a therapist for 10 years and taught my hubs how to work on mine because I couldnt walk with my first baby. Few weeks and I was back to normal
I agree with the suggestions above about seeing a chiropractor…they could do mild adjustments while your pregnant… also check into a massage… just make sure they work with pregnant patients.
And a Tins Stimulator would probably become your friend. (You can purchase online, or through a medical supply company if your doctor with write a script for it)
Good luck. I wish you relief with your pain!!!
I use bear grease, you can see if turmeric is safe during pregnancy and lots and lots of stretches to lengthen the sciatic and reduce inflammation
Chiropractor or search for stretch exercises for lower back and sciatica relief. I saw this in Reader’s Digest once. The exercises work in 72 hours.
I did pt, but I really had to work hard at my exercises. Like it took 2-3 months for them to help.
Stretch mama
Pintrist some stretches that relieve the pain
Sitting in the butterfly and just leaning forward feels SO good
If you have a footstool, get down on your hands and knees and use it to prop up your chest. Have hubby massage your lower back and try and pop your upper back
That saved me so many nights
I second chiropractor!!!
I know you’re pregnant and some will be totally against this, but try CBD oil. There’s no THC and it does amazing things!!
Try chiropractor, they did muscle/tendon work and showed me at home stretches to do to keep the area loose
I dealt with this my whole pregnancy and I feel for you. I had to take Tylenol more than they wanted me to and a heating pack and laying down was all I could do to get a little relief. When they say they can’t do anything else they really can’t! It sucks so bad and I’m sorry you have to go through this. Just stay strong!
A chiropractor helped me
Go to a chiropractor. When you make the appointment tell them you are pregnant so they put you with the right person.
Chiropractor is the best sweetie. Try it
Search for a chiropractor that specializes in maternity adjustments. Hopefully they can help you out. Good luck mama, I know how bad sciatica is as I had I with my second pregnancy and unfortunately I still have it. Most days I’m good, but when I get a flare up, it’s the worst. You can also Google pregnancy sciatica stretches
I had acupuncture it really worked CARY orthopedics Dr Scott ??? Can’t remember his last name
Chiropractor, yoga, be careful on the tylenol theres a warning on the back of the bottle saying to not do max daily doses for more than two weeks in a row.
See a chiropractor who specializes in pregnancy related care. The relief might be temporary, but it can help.
After you have your baby please get an MRI to see if it isn’t a ruptured disc. I had both my femoral and sciatic nerves pinched from a disc rupture and surgery was what saved me.
The pain is truly unbearable and I’m so sorry for you. Hang in there and try to keep your spirits up.
With regular daily stretches… A tens unit helps me to defer the pain so I can function! You may have to check with using it while pregnant.
Dr. John Bloodworth is a great chiropractor I’m sure he could help you.
I had sciatica pretty bad w my 2nd. This one I get issues once awhile but not like the 2nd. See a chiropractor- like as much as it takes lol. And my dr honestly prescribed a pain killer for it I was around my 7th month, and everything was fine.
I saw a chiropractor. I had NO back pain and I was carrying twins

My sister is pregnant and just tried dry needling. She said it helped a lot!
Chiropractor. Find a well reviewed one, ask if they know how to care for a pregnant woman. If too expensive or insurance won’t cover, ask your doctor for a referral. I know many doctors look down on chiropractors so they rarely suggest them, but a good one can do wonders
Chiro and then a maternity massage should help.
Chiropractor saved me.
Go to an Orthopedic Dr.
I agree with a chiropractor that specializes in pregnancy as well as essential oils.

My niece had this and was later diagnoised with MS.

I had good luck with a chiropractor, it took quite a few sessions but really helped to alleviate the pain.
Chiropractor!! Had similar problems with one of my pregnancies and they really helped me
Chiropractor regular visits I have it bc of scoliosis plus a sacral nerve pinch that’s not gonna be fun during labor
Look into DDP Yoga. Created by Diamond Dallas Page, a professional wrestler in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s a mix of yoga, therapy, and calisthenics. I can personally say that it REALLY helps back pain. I have arthritis in my lower spine. https://youtu.be/bIXOo8D9Qsc
