What can I do to stop my kids nightmares?

My 5 year old is starting to have nightmares. We cut out sugar after 5. Bedtime is at 8 (her school starts later so she wakes up later). She sleeps with me, she always has pretty much. No major changes, no YouTube influences as we don’t allow it. She wakes up routinely around 2:30 or 3 terrified. What can I do to help her?

Could be night terrors. If that’s the case, you kind of have to let them ride out.

Night terrors. Unfortunately pretty common and something that is tied to development so will fix itself.

White noise or sounds of nature are helpful sometimes

What does the pediatrician say?

What I did for my son when he was younger was get him a dream catcher and explained what it was. That the webbing caught the sticky bad dreams, and the holes in it allowed only good dreams through, it helped some

My families very spiritual. My daughter went through this… it was literally beginning to scare me too and I couldn’t sleep because she was tossing and turning and crying in the wee of the hours. So we cleansed the entire house. We got some holy water said a prayer in each corner.

One big thing that I noticed with both of my kids, is that during growth spurts there would be night terrors and peeing the bed, even if it had not happened in months. It would sneak up, go on for about a week, they would suddenly be an inch taller and it would stop…. White noise is great, and a night light, but no blue light while sleeping! Hope this helps

Night terrors can be a phase. Does she appear asleep or fully awake?

Put a Bible under her pillow. Pray over her, her bed and her room. My momma done this with me. I’ve done it with both my kids.

Maybe magnesium? For deeper sleep

Pray! And teach her to pray as well, pray over your entire house.
If pediatrician says it’s okay, magnesium helps with sleep.
